Huawei also includes a dongle with more USB ports free with the laptop. Imagine that. However, no word on pricing yet. Huawei clearly going at the Macbook Pro/Surface Laptop market here.

There will also be a 15 inch model. No photos yet.

There is a 15 inch version with a lower res screen and a 930MX GPU.

While we got some hands-on time with the Matebook X at a press event in San Francisco, the Matebook D wasn't available. That model is like a larger version of the Matebook X with a lower-resolution screen, but a Nvidia GeForce 930MX GPU for better gaming graphics.

Matebook D specs

15.6-inch 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution (non-touch)
7th gen Intel i5 or i7 CPU
Estimated 8.5 hour battery life
Dolby Atmos sound system
Up to 1TB HDD
Full USB, USB-C and HDMI ports

My dog was murdered by a 3.5mm audio port and I will not rest until the standard is dead
Good for them. It still doesn't run MacOS, though, and that's why no one can compete for my attention.

The article didn't seem to mention a GPU. Is is just going to be Intel's integrated graphics?

Ultrabooks usually don't include a dedicated GPU in order to ensure it's as light as possible and preserve battery.

Edit: There is a 15 inch version with a lower res screen and a 930MX GPU.

930MX would be really weak, my current laptop has a 950M and it's already has trouble playing AAA games.

Won't be surprised if the price is extremely reasonable compared to something like Apple.

That usually tends to be the deal with Huawei products.

My only issue with Huawei is how little they seem to try to be their own company. Everything just comes off as an copy with their names and presentations.

I've heard good things about Huawei, be interested to see the price on this guy. Don't they make some of the best low range phones?

ummmm, these are two different markets.

MacBook Pro has a discrete GPU, Thunderbolt 3 functionality, and is meant as a serious professional level computer.

The Surface has an integrated GPU and is more of an ultrabook. The closest analog to it in the Apple world is the MacBook.

Mine has a 980M so it should be fine for the time being.

Did you look at how skinny it is? Most if not all laptops in it's size range have intel GPUs. The iris pro is actually decent compared to Nvidia low end offerings. In fact, it would be stupid if they put any of Nvidia current gen low end GPUs on there since they are so damn slow.

The MacBook Pro only has a dGPU with the 15 inch model, and comes with a Radeon Pro 450, 455, or 460. Those are not desktop grade graphic cards.

The MacBook Pro 13 inch versions only comes with Iris integrated graphics which I think the Matebook X is trying to compete with.

Couldn't imagine buying a laptop without a touchscreen these days.

Ick, I couldn't imagine buying one WITH a touchscreen. I can barely stand the fingerprints on my phone/tablet, not sure I could deal with a laptop screen covered in smears and smudges.

looks like an ultrabook, quacks like an ultrabook, so must be an ultrabook

seems like everyone has fanless 7.5W Intel iWhatever to announce

Company just copies everyone else

Do you own stocks in companies that Huawei is trying to compete with? It's weird you'd shit on a company giving you an equivalent product for cheaper.

If they can copy Apple and sell it at a much cheaper price, why would you not want that?

You need to read up on this company and the lawsuits. And yes I do.

"The Windows 10 laptop is the first fanless 13-inch model with an Intel U-Series processor. It has a sleek aluminum chassis that'll be available in gold, grey and pink. At 12.5mm thick and weighing 2.31 pounds, it's slimmer and lighter than the comparable MacBook Pro, which is 15mm thick and weighs about 3.02 pounds. (The 12-inch MacBook is 13mm thick and weighs 2.03 pounds.)"

The 13" is an ultrabook with integrated graphics. I wonder how the thermal are with a fanless design. The Dell XPS 13 2017 I just bought still hits 75C with a fan under heavy load. It's seems like companies are finally catching up to Dell's "infinity edge" display bezel.

There should be more tampons in gaming
Looks nice, Huawei is an excellent company that makes great products. My Nexus 6p has never done me wrong. I think this could be a great laptop for my girlfriend. I assume still no word on the pricing according to the preview video?

Aren't lawsuits handed out like candy in the electronics realm? Still, their tactics will help Apple more aggressively price their products and offer revamped designs going forward so I'm OK with what they've done here.
