Final Fantasy VII Remake Team Urgently Recruiting, Here’s A Message From Key Staff

To be fair there's nothing here aside from blind speculation that Nomura is to blame for this game. I wouldn't say he's blameless for Versus though, he's just not the incompetent failure that detractors make him out to be.

It's like looking at a venn diagram of KH3, FF7R and FFV13 (FF15), with Nomura in the middle and still going "I still think it's inconclusive"

Ha my sister-in-law purchased a ps4 right after seeing the announcement. She only really likes indies besides FF7, which she has a pc for so the ps4 never gets used. She also lost interest when she found out its not turn-based....

Kinda sad she basically bought it for nothing, this game probably wont launch till ps5

Damn, if I was Japanese and knew how to code, I'd be all over this shit.

Working on my favourite game of all time would be a dream come true.

They're taking so long so they can make sure to perfect Tifa in HD.

Increasing their development staff?

Goddamn these threads seem to immediately shut people's brains off...

Yeah I'm not too up in arms about this (though I'm sure this is a 2018 title at the earliest). This just sounds like any employer pitch you'd seen on a company's website.

I'm not even sure if Nomura was involved in making that trailer. He didn't know he was the director of the project until it was released.
That's just bullshit that's spread. He didn't know until a briefing prior to that trailer. That trailer has Nomura's directorial touches all over it.

He even said he created it in one of the interviews, referring to Sephiroth's narration.

If literally anyone in here decided to start learning how to make video games today, you'd probably be able to get hired by Square Enix for this game by the time you're qualified.

I could probably start learning Japanese now and be done before they've released it.

That's been proven false, many times

Yeah, I would have thought so. Sucks for him that they revealed the project so early, but I guess half the intention was to drum up hype for recruitment at the time.

EDIT:
I could probably start learning Japanese now and be done before they've released it.

If you're serious - you could do this easily. I went from 0% knowledge when Dragon Quest XI was announced to playing games comfortably in ~7 months, and am reading novels and shit fine now at ~15 months.

Seems like Japanese developers have two gears

Either Sakurai: "I haven't taken a day off in three years and I used this keyboard and mouse so much my hands are permanently stuck in this position", or Nomura "I've been working on this game for 5 years and all I have to show for it is this Joker action figure"

Why does people think that recruiting new staff that will help make 3D chairs in high definition affects the game as a whole?

They're not waiting to form a team to start the thing, people come and go on the project...

The fact that they're recruiting isn't a surprise at all, it's actually pretty normal. But this:

For this project, we aim to surpass the original work in terms of quality by increasing the number of staff to strengthen the core company development as we head into the development progress phase.

Is a little worrisome. lol

Imagine it's 2022 and finally this thing is coming out for the Playstation 5.

And you find out it ends just before you leave Midgar.

Man, Yoshi-P can barely get a decent sized team to work on the MMO that is part of the reason the company is making money, and Nomura wants to drop that this game is just now starting to get into the "development progress phase".

Can't wait for the demo of the first episode to drop in 2019!
Seriously, how "grand" a vision do they have for this remake, lol.

I'm not trying to act like a blind fan. Here's my take.

FF7R was announced at E3 in 2015. So almost 2 years ago. No idea what the scope of this first "Episode" is going to be but I don't think see it really being in any trouble.

KH3 was announced in 2013, almost 4 years ago. They lost a year of progress due to the Luminous Engine. I don't really see this being Nomura's fault that they couldn't get KH to mesh well with an engine that's clearly had issues even for FFXV.

VersusXIII he shares blame for, obviously.

KH3 releasing next year would give them 4 years of dev time since switching to Unreal. That's a reasonable amount of time given the scope. FF7R is too early to even tell. Should KH3 come out next year half-baked like FFXV and we get through 2018 with next to no information on FF7R then yes, I can agree that Nomura is someone who's probably the problem.

I don't plan on saying Nomura is the problem or incompetent just yet because there's nothing with FF7 or KH3 that makes me think he's fucked up on those projects. That said, if he has we are going to see it over the next year or so and we're gonna get a good sign of it at E3 when we get to see what they have/do not have.

Again, I'm not going to blindly believe in Nomura as a director forever. Depending on how things develop I may end up doing drive by posts about how awful of a Director he is a year from now.

The thing is, they had no reason to announce the game that early at all.

During that time FFXV was finally ramping up development and getting some spotlight. They should have kept this under wraps for as long as possible.

Some people here I'm joking, but I'm 100% sure that Nomura will not direct the whole project

He will (probably) direct episode 1 of the remake, but at episode 2 or 3
of 5
they will put Tabata or Toriyama or someone else in the director chair

Nomura said his company duties are laid out until 2019 over two years ago, if that puts anything into context.

I'm guessing they plan on being done with the project at that time.

I really hate these announcement of games that don't come out for 5+ years. Just unnanounce it at this point then surprise me in 5 years times.

That's nothing. Wait until they announce Part 2 a year or two after the release of the first part only to potentially wait another 3 years for it to release.

Nothing less than a release date (even tentative) would be a goddamn shame.

For KH3 they absolutely need a major trailer. The game has shown so far the first couple of areas in the game and a CG trailer. They need to instill some confidence that the game has made the progress a game that's been in development 3-4 years should. E3 is going to be an important time for them.

7R they have some leeway given that it's a newer title but that will burn away fast.

I'm going to go with something not being translated properly.

I'm also doubtful of the episode idea as people generally think of it.

My suspicion is that they mean 2 or 3 different games.
