Far Cry 5 keyart revealed

I'm surprised to how strong reactions to it are in social media.
It's hilarious to see conservatives turning out to be just as much of snowflakes as liberals are :D I thought videogames were supposed to be apolitical fun, but I guess this ends when villains turn out to be white americans instead of brown or yellow people.

I love this. And there will be a lot of controversy around this - for sure.

To be a bit more serious: How this can even be remotely controversial goes to show how off-road things have gone. I can line up games where we kill islamic extremists (which of course does not equal that all muslims are bad), latin american drug lords (which of course does not equal that all latin americans are bad) and east asian autocrats (which of course does not mean that all east asians are bad).

But alt-right/christian cult/white supremacists? I can smell the 'anti-american', 'anti-white' and 'anti-christian' crowd from a mile away.

Hope Ubisoft goes all out.

Really glad Ubisoft is doing this. They haven't even fully revealed the thing and I'm seeing so many "agenda"s and "snowflake"s and "triggered"s. The hypocrisy is at once hilarious and sickening.

Hopefully it's tries to be more than a shoot bang, but all of the guns on the cover doesn't make that promising. I know it's a lot to infer from a cover, but honestly, it looks like the same formula. Capture outposts until x captured in region, then capture fort controlled by named enemy, kill big bad at the end. After playing wildlands and primal this year, I'm getting tired of it. Hopefully there's something to spice it up.

I was excited on the idea of a Far West Far Cry, but then they showed this...
I liked Far Cry and Far Cry 3 only, I will pass this too.

That was absolutely funny sounding, I couldn't stop laughing.

On a serious note if there is overwhelming evidence that this is true, the voters need to be aware. If the companies are sanctioned and he has ties to them, then he should stand down from the election.

I don't know the laws about dealing with companies that are sanctioned by the U.S., but he should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Anybody with knowledge on these business practices that could give us some info about these types and business practices and if he can be brought up on charges?

Sadly we hear a lot about politicians and the laws they break regarding dealing with companies from other countries. I am happy they are being questioned. Good on those reporters for standing up to him and doing the right thing.

Our politicians should be vetted carefully when they run for office all the way down to the lowest level, so voters know who they are voting for. Although sometimes it doesn't work as people have an "oh well" mentality. Meaning even if this is true, people will go "oh well" I stand with them on other issues and they are apart of their political party.

I can say I affiliate myself the Democratic Party, but most people in the military are Republicans, or at least most of them that I have ran into in my Marine Corps career. However, most of my Platoon back when Mr. Obama ran for office voted for him, I hadn't seen that in many of years and was mightily surprised. It was nice to see.

Thanks for posting this.

That art is incredible, but Its Ubisoft. Their reveal is always more interesting than their final package. I really hope they go all the way, but after 3 and 4, I am setting my expectation low

This may already have been pointed out - apologies if so - but the woman in the upper right looks a *lot* like Cheryl Tunt from Archer.

Guy to the left of the villain reminds me a bit of Boyd Holbrook.

my only concern with the art is we're getting another non-Vaas "i'm the villain but also your friend but not really" villain phoning you every minute

Vaas was cool and all and games need more interesting antagonists but after FC4 it was like, alright we've already done this before. hope it doesn't become a one trick pony thing going forward

I'm glad they went at it again with Pagan Min since he is an infinitely better char than Vaas but ya 3rd time would be too much.

imagine being legitimately upset that a band of racial extremists with likely fanatical religious ideologies are chosen as the antagonist of a video game

imagine being actually angry and upset about this representation

Oftentimes one of the traits of a great villain is that they don't see themselves as the villain.

With that in mind, the ass end of the U.S. is surely one of the best villains in human history.

Don't really see why there should be controversy. Religious extremist groups has been a villain setting for (mostly horror) movies for decades.

Last supper huh, atleast they are going all in on this and not holding back. Still keeping my interest, even though this also works as a reminder that it's still a Far Cry game which I wouldn't otherwise be that interested in.

I don't know how I feel about this. Suspension of disbelief and all but the setting is just so bizarre. Do they just cut all communication to the rest of the country and no one realizes what's happening? Pretty much every game in the series has taken place in secluded islands or small portions of third-world countries while this is friggin' America lmao. Ianno, just hard to swallow that the rest of the country is none the wiser, especially considering it's the USA.

I'll still buy and play it because the theme sounds great and I love the series. Hopefully the story is good.

I agree this happening on US soil seems weird, because like you said if this is a "secret cult" them getting away with what was shown in the teasers and this art is pretty unlikely unless the rest of the US is intentionally casting a blind eye to whats going on, or this is satirical lala land USA like GTA.

I dunno if its going to be ingrained in reality or fantasy with underlying truths, the Trump Adminstration is now part of Assassins Creed canon so who knows what they will do to explain why this is occuring in Far Cry.

Do you guys not realize how big the US is? How open and secluded parts of it is?

You don't know how these cults have risen many times over the last 50 years and people don't notice till they have entire compounds built sometimes?

Haven't read the thread yet, but I assume someone has surely mentioned the awesomely-realized HEAVY Fargo vibe in the teasers. My god, they're good.

This. Really, you get out there in the sticks, pretty much just East of the rocky mountains and west of the Mississippi (you know flyover country) the empty space out there is breath taking. Hauntingly beautiful in a way. But yeah...There is nothing out there. You could have a cult.

You'd have to be some kind of triggered snowflake to be upset about that.

And an asshole.

Weren't they both just exaggerated forms of the faction leaders in Far Cry 2 or the Jackal even? You did some work for them, but were as likely to screw them over as help them.

What are the chances that the rumored September release date could be true??? Really hoping for September.

The far cry games always look interesting from trailers and first demo presentations. But they never go far with me into actually purchasing or renting. This new one peaks my interest more than any other one in the past.

I'm excited for the storytelling potential. But will I actually play is based on how the game is structured. I want to soak up the story in a much quicker pace. I know this is Ubi so the game is most likely open world.

I'd say 99.9% chance it will be open-world, I think all Far Cry games have been.

Do we have any idea what time the reveal is coming tomorrow?

Just over 13 hours till the trailer drops, right?

I'm very pumped to see the trailer and have my fingers crossed for a September release date.
