Monster Hunter XX coming to Switch

MH3G and MH4 were announced at the same time, both for 3DS. If history had repeated itself, Capcom would've announced MHXX and MH5 at the same time for Switch, but they didn't.

So obviously MH5 is only coming to PS4.

They are doing the unveiling at the event in two days....

I think there might be teaser for MH 5 there

I enjoy it because it lets me focus on combat more so and not so much things like item management for gathering. Prowlers have to be downed 3 times before they re-spawn at the camp. They have infinite of gathering items, so no hassle there either. It seems like an easier mode all around really.

It's kind of lacking in play-styles compared to humans but there are a couple of nice focuses (traps, horn, boomerang upgrades to name a few).
Sounds interesting, especially the item management point. I had an idea that it would be a limited but fun mode to play, but not exactly easier. Will have to give it a shot.

I hope this doesn't get locked because I have genuine interest in this.

I've only ever played 3 Ultimate. Are there any major gameplay differences? Some people have been saying it's faster? I feel like I recall hearing a greater focus on verticality?

How about content? Is it still as huge a game as the numbered entries typically are?

Generations 4 had 4 different towns and 4 different styles per weapon to choose. Really fun stuff

You can climb walls...I think there has to be vines or specific material, though.

Seemed obvious after they showed a trailer with a mixture of HD and 3DS assets.

But yeah, now I need a Switch. Was just waiting on this confirmation.

Three of my biggest issues with Monster Hunter in the past have been:

1) Bad camera controls, first with the OG 3ds, then with the N3dsXL nub. Neither felt good or were easy to use. The Switch thankfully has 2 complete analogs so this issue should be gone.

2) Ugly 3ds screens making for a jaggy, visually confusing game. Sometimes, on the 3ds MH is just hard to make sense of visually. Switch should take care of this as well.

3) Player motivation(?) MH is almost Animal Crossing like in that you are dropped into the game and then you just hunt. I never got a sense of progression or narrative or more varied gameplay. I don't know when or how this will change.

Monter Hunter 4 came in with a focus on vertically, leaving behind the water sections from Tri, while X (or Generations) sped up the game flow and introduced different styles that complement your weapon choice, bringing a lot more variety and dynamic to the game.

All entries are filled to the brim with content, especially the "expansion" games like this one.

Monster Hunter made too much sense for the Switch so it's nice to finally get confirmation of a game coming to the system.

MH3U on the 3DS and Wii U was my first experience with Monster Hunter and it really sold the idea of how great that game is for both the big screen experience as well as playing it on the go. The Switch makes that easier than ever and this time there are less compromises to the portable version.

Not to mention, I got 4 but couldn't help but wish for a higher res version to play on the TV. Switch seems like now we finally may have the perfect device for Monster Hunter. It's going to be huge in Japan and may even push it to new levels of popularity in the West, just due to how much people seem to be taking their Switches out and playing with others.

All of this sounds incredible. I want it now. Damn localization, probably won't be out west till next year...

Let's cross our fingers for next month then, huh? For all we know, Capcom might drop this bombshell that we might get to see the switch version sooner than we may think. We'll see of course, but this is getting me all kinds of excited if Capcom actually plan to use E3 to announce something in relation with MHXX for Switch.

Eh its very possible to come out this year. We already got Generations so the localization is there (which is what takes the most time) and this is an expansion of that.

Personally the game just feels extremely lousy to control imo.
I bought it thrice on 3ds and each time quit feeling exhausted after a fight or two. Unless theyre reworking this or the next one for consoles specifically i cant get back into it

The game focuses on weight, momentum, and anticipation, which most action games do not.

I'm a little LTTP but HELL YES! Is it possible it comes out this year? Could a localization have been in the works since the release in Japan?

Announcement is sooner than expected. Guess it shows how the 3DS version under performed.

Excited for this, guessing September release.

Not sure, but I'd imagine that we'll find out on Saturday. I'm more curious about how quickly Capcom will localize MHXX (or MHG2 if that's what the localized name ends up being).

I can't imagine it would take that long. "Most" of the work is already done (thanks to Generations existing), and all that's necessary is to translate the new stuff and G-Rank content that's the primary focus of this expansion.

It's something I'd imagine that they would have gotten out of the way quicker, because they knew Stories was going to be a MUCH bigger undertaking for any localization force.

So.. isn't Monster Hunter XX an anniversary title with the entire MH4U cast of monsters, new monsters, and classic with G rank?

Hey y'all.

4) You don't want gaming mods to go hard as hell on port-begging, especially in regards to the Switch. Relax. If you have a problem, point it towards a mod. Even if I don't handle gaming side, I can pass it to another mod who will.

Actually, we do
