USF II (Switch) vs SFV which do you think will sell more in the end?

Principate

Saint Titanfall
Considering USF II is now out and Capcom's channel stuffing capabilities are widely well known (They manage to ship over a million SF IV 3DS as a launch title). Which do you think will ship more in the first quarter and which will ship more life time.

Points for USF II: Currently top selling game in Amazon US and France.

Points for SFV: Two platforms and longterm support.

I really don't want to think about a full priced version of SF2 in 2017 selling more than SFV. If it does it kinda shows how much they messed up SFV.

I can see USF 2 beat SFV longterm if it hits sub 15-20 bucks down the road and gets in a sale from time to time.

Ship? SFV. USF2 strikes me more as a small digital download game. Sell on the other hand...

Probably still SFV given the low ratings of USF2.

edit: I guess if it really is more of a digital download, then it being #1 on Amazon actually means double the $$$. Well who knows then.

Man, this is reverse Sophie's Choice.

I'm going with USF2, simply because we already know that SF5's sales are disappointing, and deservedly so. (The market place needs to punish games that ship incomplete and broken. USF2, by contrast, is a shameless cash grab, but it appears to be feature complete.)

The amount of people around here seemingly putting up with Capcom's bullshit and paying $40 for Ultra makes me wonder...

With Switch fever at a high and its game drought going on, I could see it selling pretty well, but like others have said, long term I expect SFV to do better. Its ongoing support is pretty damn good.

SFV has been at the top of Amazon's list several times as well. Ultimately I don't see USFII outselling it long term. The switch is doing well and people are hungry for games, but I doubt it has much lasting appeal.

Sure it has the benefit of being an early Switch title without competition on Switch but nobody is going to bother with this game when the obvious alternatives (smash port) are announced/arrive.

Yeah a USFIV port would be much more interesting to see sales comparisons.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Sony has current gen console exclusivity over USFIV (similar to the current gen console exclusivity they have over Injustice 1).

To answer the OP's question, that depends on if SFV has a relaunch planned & if USFII gets discounted in the near future.

SFV has more modes available:

Story Mode
Character Story Mode
Versus
Survival
Challenge
Training
Player Matches (Lobbies)
Ranked Matches
Casual Matches

USF2 has:

Arcade Mode
Versus
Training
Ranked Matches
Casual Matches
Way Of The Hado

That doesn't mean much. It likely hasn't shipped 2 million copies yet

I think he was referring to SFV's launch.

I really, really doubt USF2 will sell 1.6+ million copies

Switch is horribly software starved and while USF2 is overpriced by a factor of 4 , it's also cheaper then any other retail game on the console.

I'd be amazed if it HASNT outsold SFV within 3 months for that reason alone. I would rather have SFV sell more obviously but it's had its chance to shine already and people passed on it.

SFV has a little over a year's head start on USF2. This feels like a silly question.
I dont think that should matter. We compare sales to previous games in series all the time for example, wondering if it will sell more, less or equal despite the previous games have been out on the market for a longer period of time.

I think it can do that. Whereas SFV was supposed to be a hyped new entry in the series, Capcom had a lot of struggles with it being full price for what they gave, exclusivity on one console, etc. Switch has had killer adoption rates due to lack of games so far. If Neo Geo games are seeing 200k plus downloads, and more copies of Breath of the Wild are sold than there are Switch console sold, I can see that number being beaten for USF2 because it is cheaper, anyone who wants a solid fighting game on Switch has limited options etc.

I don't think it will go even near SFV but who knows..

PS4 has a bigger install base and USF2 is grossly overpriced and doesn't offers much new stuff.

Don't get me wrong, my copy of USF2 just shipped today, but I consider myself a (sucker for SF) minority in the grand scheme of things.

USF2 should sell decently well, even more than the average gaffer in a bubble would think.

But let's face it: SFV has been out longer, it's going to continue having more sold compared to USF2.

Sorry, that was the point I was trying to make about OP pointing out that USFII was at the top of Amazon. It really isn't a great indicator of strength. Neither of these titles are going to perform particularly well.

So we're going from Street Fighter 4 on 3DS to Street Fighter 2 on Switch...

Yeah that should give you a pretty good indication of how it will do outside of the FGC

Seeing how well Super Bomberman R did despite its reception and price, I'm not as pessimistic as some others on USFII.

It's the highest selling video game on Amazon US right now. (Currenly #6 behind 5 denominations of PSN credit and 1 month PS Plus)

Daily Amazon charts don't really mean all that much. If it's still hanging out near the top of the charts in a week, that'll be impressive.

I think it can come close in the long run. It's definitely going to do better than most people here think.

Nostalgia factor is strong with the Switch and casual buyers are not going to see the short comings. I don't think an SF IV port would have sold better either.

SFV got a lot of really bad press at the beginning. I think it lost a ton of what would have been day one sales due to the barebones nature of the release. USFII is more of a fully featured title plus it has portability. The game is universally liked so you know you're getting a fighter you'll enjoy.

FWIW, I bought USFII and did not buy SFV. Portability plus the fact I know I will play it mostly on the go, (with 2 player capability at the drop of the hat anywhere I go) made me grin and bear that price.
