Final Fantasy XV |OT2| For Jared!

Been chugging along. Stumbled upon some more dungeons, an armiger weapon, and a secret area that you can only fly to. This was especially intense, as I had to fight several level 70 chickens, use up all my healing items (I was in the 50s at the time) and then, later on stumbled into two lvl. 85 Marlboros. At this point, I was running on fumes, but it was brilliant, because I upgraded my magic a bit and was pummeling them with Thundara spells, which happened to save my ass.

I can see why people don't like the magic system, but after getting to end-game, I can see how it helps with tactics and making fights more successful without having to do a battle of attrition until your items run out. Magic has its place, even if it isn't mandatory for the main game. I'm definitely thinking about pumping more AP into magic now after that.

Just too good. Bless Florence!

Edit: I am on a FFXV OST kick today and so forgive me if I post way too many songs. .:D

It's funny, I was listening to the Florence tracks when they were first released, before I even played the game...and this track had me shedding a tear. Don't know why, lol. It just had a certain impact at the moment. I think I was overwhelmed, because I was already a fan of Florence's music, but then hearing her songs on a game I was anticipating, well, it was just an overload, ha ha.

I'll always wonder what context Too Much is Never Enough and I Will Be were supposed to be played in. The lyrics of TMINE don't quite align with the game as well as they should. I Will Be 's exclusion is terrible because it's one of the best FF pieces in a long time.

TMINE is played were it was meant to be played.

If you read the lyrics, and this is more my interpretation of it, it seems to be sung from Noctis's view in Chapter 14 before he enters Insomnia.

Just got to chapter 3 and am enjoying the game a lot. Just wanted to chime in and say that lol. I guess my expectations were lowered due to all of the negative word of mouth but the mood hit and I'm sucked in. I've liked the characters and feeling of road tripping way more than I thought.

What exactly is the "thing Noctis did that night?"
What did Luna maybe have right?

That whole section keeps the song from fitting into Chapter 14, for me.

It definitely feels like the song was written for a draft of the game's script that was moved past.

My take on the lyrics is that it happens during Noctis' "whatever" phase during
the chapters on the train
when he
doesn't want to face his responsibility
. In this view, I think the lyrics are general sentiments of Noctis reflecting in depression and anger on the events that recently transpired.

I'm about 80% of the way to a platinum, and it seems like it will be relatively easy to get there from here. Only 3 Armiger weapons left, plus hunts and finishing off the skills (most of my skills are already lvl8 +, except for fishing, which I barely used at all, lol).

I'm kind of starting to slow down in my playing, and will probably just do like an hour or so every day until then, and then I'll jump back in for when the DLCs drop. I'll do a NG + run through the game if and when Tabata drops a hard mode. If not, I might wait some time and get some other games in my system so I can return to this game with some fresh nostalgia goggles. :)

I'm thinking about trading my PS+ sub for a FF XIV sub now, because I still want some more Final Fantasy goodness ;)

I am thinking of doing a no-HUD run soon. Because I turned off the game HUD the other day and wow-wee was it super immersive! :D

Every time I see the smallest bump I hope for episode prompto info

Cool, we'll see what this survey is about. I'm almost finish with the plat. The only issue is that I'm only level 2 with Noctis' fishing skill, so that will be a bit of a grind.

And man, I hate how every thread about FFXV on the main forum is filled with shitty drive-bys. I generally just stay out of those threads. Sucks, because I want to discuss the game.

I don't get it's every thread. You'd think at this point something of some sort would be done. Same ppl every time with no interest to give feedback. Let me go do that for a gaf beloved game I won't make it past the hour

I got this game at launch, played it for about ten hours, then got caught up in other games. Tried to pick it back up last night, but I was so confused about everything, so I think I'm just going to start over.

Any recommendations on stuff to spend AP on in the early hours, or any tips that might not be obvious?

You guys think this game is worth playing? I generally enjoy final fantasy, but didn't have a PS4 when 15 launched. Got one now though and looking for a new game.

It's hard to say for everyone, but I enjoyed it a lot even with flaws. I would say give it a shot if you are interested.

On a personal level, I connected with the story and characters quite a bit, and enjoyed the many dungeons. As I said in an earlier post, it's my 3rd favorite Final Fantasy (behind 6 and 7).

The derailing of every XV thread on the gaming forum is a huge bummer. A small group of people ruining any discussion every time a thread pops up.
Nothing is done absolutely nothing let me go ruin the witcher 3 or persona 5 or another gaf darling like I said I wouldn't last. It's every single thread really don't get it

Well, I am just glad we have a great community here. ^_^

I had people attack me personally in that thread and nothing was done. Sometimes, it really does feel like mods will only do something if it's against a game they like.

The litmus test will be whether anything is done in FFXII:TZA and FFXIV threads. Then we know if there truly is a bias, which I strongly feel exists.

There will be things done, but I don't think anyone should go out of their way and get banned just to prove a point.

I don't like 12 so I low key wanna do it to see but meh whatever that's stooping to their lvl

I'd rather not. I don't want to lower myself to their standard.

I firmly believe in constructive criticism. I am wholly against attacking others and having destructive negativity in those threads where the same posters constantly derail and sidetrack the topic of the thread.

Ah I would never than I'm just as bad as them

I'm nearing FFXV ending, and I want to know about the story in Versus. Iirc there were several leak threads. Could someone link to all such info please

Here's a good summary: https://nowloading.co/p/how-ffversus13-became-final-fantasy-15-an-analysis-of-leaks/4206064

The game centered about death, ghosts and hallucination/dreams. Noctis killed the female protagonist before the game started but he didn't remember. Ardyn was Noctis ancestor and he was responsible of the crystals disappearing over time (the only one left was Lucis crystal). Regis died in front of Noctis because his bodyguards betrayed him. The protagonists had to leave the capital because their nation lost the war.

The game didn't focus on summons that much (they still existed) and instead there were actual gods which didn't appear physically. One of the gods was the main antagonist of the first FF game. Each nation was inspired by a different capital of the world. The empire was using ghosts as weapons. Ravus wanted to kill Noctis for having killed her sister. The game ended in another dimension which was supposed to be their version of the after-life.

Other, even more unverified sources had
Noctis and the bros actively selling a street drug called Luna for the mafioso Lucian royalty, Gladio and Prompto both dying AFTER betraying Noctis to their respective fathers, and Ardyn being essentially Caius 2.0, manipulating everyone so he could enter the Unseen Realm to kill Etro for revenge.

FFXV is far less complicated than Nomura envisioned but I think the necessary sacrifices had to be made to make the game more accessible for a wider audience.

**snip secret story leaks about Versus XIII**

Hmm. I've never seen this before. After reading that, I can say that I actually like XV's more direct story, even if we didn't get enough of it in-game. This just sounds like convoluted Nomura junk (IMO of course). I am also getting flashbacks of XIII's convoluted story, which didn't really engage me either.

I mean, I would be curious to see what this would be like, but I don't miss it (if it is true). Ideally though, if we could have gotten the original Versus plus a completely different XV, I wouldn't complain either. In the end, I agree with the author about some changes being better, but some original concepts being interesting (if a bit convoluted). Cindy's original design was unequivocally better, though.

Whew. So Pitioss.

I finished it (well, I have one last switch to press in the main room and the final door, which is not much) and my mind is half loving it, half hating it. It took me somewhere around 4 hours.

For one thing, it is really well designed puzzles with hidden lore meanings (I didn't even really put it together until I saw the theories about it).

On the other hand, the control and movement system is not suited for this type of tight-nit platforming, so some of the sections (the skewed view platforming) were particularly frustrating. I was even shouting "I'm never doing this again!" when I was playing, but now that I've calmed down and analyzed it, I am going to go back in so I can piece everything together for myself.

So the current lore theory is that
Ifrit was imprisoned by Titan but escaped, and made his way through, but found Etro at some point (or Eos, can't remember her name) and was disturbed by this. He helped her escape. But notably, the theory is that the "genji glove" in the statue's belly button represents that she was pregnant with two children, going by what the Japanese meaning for "genji" is. Thus, it is theorized that these were the two royal family lines, i.e. Izunia and Lucius Caelem, and that she was imprisoned for having children with a mortal.

If this is true, this is pretty crazy and awesome at the same time, and also frustrating because this lore wasn't well represented in the game.

Whew. I'm so glad I voted for Ifrit's Betrayal now on the survey.

Yeeeaaah... Rumors funny to see.

And yup, Pitioss is pretty great. I felt the same way as you (except for the skewed viewpoint thing. I thought that was pretty cool!)

It was equal parts brilliant and frustrating, and strangely enough...the frustrating parts of it made it more endearing.

Forget about that other "leak" with the drugs, lol. It's complete fanfic BS. Same with the GameFAQs one.

What's the point when it'll be filled up with people saying

"yeah but where's the story?"
"stop making updates/DLCs and make XVI"

Like flies to shit.

I don't think how a thread can turn out should stop posters from reporting pertinent information for other forum posters.

But if that is how everyone feels on the matter then I digress. Not that big of a deal really. :p
