Wonder Woman now tracking to have opening on par with other DCEU movies

Not like 65 is a bad number. Wouldn't be a Deadpool or Guardians type breakout but it doesn't need to be. Though Wonder Woman making less than Dr. Strange would be something I didn't see coming.

This movies gonna suck. The DCCU has a proven bad track record, with the lead in to this being Batman V. Superman. But as for female led action movies, don't we have Captain Marvel coming next year, and Marvel has the opposite track record of DC and that movies coming out after this one, so while people may be down on them for a year at worst, female led action movies aren't gonna fully go down.

I think Capt. Marvel got pushed to 2018 if I remember.

But yeah, WW should be a bigger deal but DC and their edge lord movies are not doing this any favors. No one has expectations for it and haven't for months.

Them basically showing the same damn footage for a year in each trailer isn't helping. "Finding that guy on the beach, she says something odd to his modern male ears and makes a quip, she destroys that pillar in a really badly shot wire pulled action scene."

We get it -eyeroll-

Captain Marvel is 2019, I think. In-between the two Infinity___ movies.

First how about seeing the film before you say it sucks. Second the lead into this isn't really BvS considering WW is mostly set before that.

Furthermore just because some movies aren't much likable from one comic brand doesn't mean others fall into the same basket. Different directors, different stories, different characters, etc. For instance I don't care much for the Iron Man movies (apart from the first), Civil War or Dr Strange, but it doesn't prevent me from thinking Rocket and Groot are some of the best characters ever.

Lastly Captain Marvel isn't next year, more like 2019, and they're hardly the icon Wonder Woman is.

I wish they would release a new trailer or put up billboards in time square or at least some new commercials. Fucking WB can't do anything right

I saw a floor mat for Doctor Pepper advertising it at Meijer today. They let you walk all over Gal Gadot while looking for soda.

I mean. I think the D.C. movies are terrible.

But this makes sense to me, and I don't think it's a bad sign. It's still tracking pretty well.

Also didn't Man of Steel give away a bunch of tickets for some walmart promotion or something?

Not only that but I haven't seen any promotional material aside from like 3 trailers on YouTube, none of which I have seen go to air or had web adspace like BvS did. They didn't invest in advertising for this, and I'd be willing to bet it's because of the female role.

lol

This thread and the marketing one went on past their expiration dates. People still being misled on old info and spins on things that were to be expected.

She doesn't really need to be.

The MCU pretty much has a seal of quality at this point that prints money and its launching I assume right between the two Infinity War movies with possible tie ins to those. Don't think it'll have much of a problem becoming a hit.

Wonder Woman should do well if word of mouth is good and if BVS & SS hasn't made audiences felt like walking into a DCEU showing is like showing up for a funeral, hopefully dispelling some arguments about female led super hero action being unwanted.

Me being mocked, that's a surprise. I've seen one commercial and not everyone drinks Dr. Pepper or drives through Times Square. Good God, you guys are just demoralizing.

?? I don't understand. They are not trusted? No offence intend.

ScreenRant is a very bad website, yes. They tend to do no actual reporting of their own, poorly source the reporting they do post, and add thousands of words of slanted, poorly written bullshit that doesn't help anyone really understand any of the shit they're trying to "report" in the first place.

The Vanity Fair article that ScreenRant was talking about is not only shorter, it's much more clear and straightforward about what it's trying to say.

ScreenRant links are like telling someone they have a free phone for you, but you have to grab it out of the plastic bag stashed at the bottom of of a toilet bowl full of recycled beef.

I mean, yeah, ultimately, if you reach in, you'll get a phone. But you'll also get shit up to your elbows.

Update.

"Umberto Gonzalez‏
🚨DCEU UPDATE🚨

Positive early reactions on WONDER WOMAN worked because 1st choice numbers have gone up according to the latest tracking!"

Update. I mean if it happens. Its so great for female superhero movies.

BoxOfficePro, the service whose long range forecast put WW at an 83 M OW, upped their estimate to 111 M OW, 300 DOM. They added this note:

Wonder Woman continues to impress as its final marketing stage hits. Reviews are expected to come online around Memorial Day, and if positive enough, they could help send the film into buzz overdrive before release next week. Before then, though, tracking has continued to inch closer to the levels of Man of Steel. We're increasingly in the ”bullish" camp at this point.

115 is definitely the best case scenario for WW, and I think this confirms it won't open below 100.

Most superheroes don't have huge recognition overseas, yet the big movies make money there.

I just don't think recognition is that big a factor.

Seems just yesterday I saw threads that WB wasn't advertising the movie because it sucked.

It really blew up the last 3/4 weeks indeed. And its now at a high point with reviews coming next week. Wich can boost it even more if its good. So the marketing was on point after all. Just peaking at the right moment.

Slayven gets to be right if the opening is anything less than $128M, which sort of points out how meaningless "lowest DCEU opening" is. They all opened huge.
