I'm noticing a lot of celebrities are advertising the Switch now

hullo FRIENDS

it seems as though *INSTAGRAM CELEBRITY* is really enjoying their new Nintendo Switch.

I really think as a hip demographic I should tweet, like and follow and purchase a Nintendo Switch of my very own. But first I thought I should notify my message board FRIENDS

You really have the world figured out, impressive!

From the same Twitter account:
Some folks might just like the system or are we saying Nintendo spent more money on Iniesta than the entire Wii U ad campaign?
Andrés playing Wii U does not automatically debunk the first picture that looks very questionable.

It's cutre seeing people deny these are paid promotions/PR campaign lol

...hate me...
Tons of celebrities are gamers. Doesn't mean they aren't getting paid or deals sharing gaming related things on their social media. Its literally a job or multiple jobs to run a popular social media accounts.

The Switch is barely in stock anywhere so where are all these celebrities getting their Switches? Are they giving in to scalpers or camping on forums like everyone else waiting for it to go back on stock? lol
The Switch isn't that hard to find, especially so if you're a celebrity and you have a whole entourage at your disposal. If you want a Switch someone will get it for you, by hook or by crook. It's not like they're walking to nearest Toys'r'us themselves hoping for it to be on the shelves.

Just look at the switch launch. A lot of youtube celebrities received free hardware and games to advertise. Some probably were paid as well.

Those same people also disclosed that they received free hardware and software from Nintendo, but I've yet to see anyone say they were paid by Nintendo.

Why would they be when many of those people were also game journalists or at least typically cover games where they may get review copies and what not anyways?

Wake up people, this is in fact a promotion for Instagram, there's no way anyone would willingly want to use that failure of a social network.

They probably even have die-hard fans sending them in the mail just knowing they are gaming fans.

I've seen the type of stuff fans of YouTubers send them, and they just have YouTube channels. Big musicians/celebrities probably have 0 issues getting something like this, which is only moderately rare.

It looks questionable because as a football team they dress similar. The previous picture establishes he's not a stranger to posting himself playing Nintendo games, let alone Mario kart. Even namar posts himself playing games. The fact that a very powerful club has access to the system, especially in parts of Europe that seemingly have better supply, shouldn't be seen as suspicious.

Especially when Barca is so upfront about their brand sponsors, which Nintendo isn't.

So how does a Celeb tell his followers about his new favorite gadget without "experts" yelling "PAID ADVERTISEMENT!!" from the rooftops?

Seems like a simple Instagram post doesn't count

I mean, are you saying that with the money some of those artists make, they aren't able to buy a video game system and have fun with it, like they do with hundreds of other stuff they buy? Clearly this must be a paid advertisement scheme from Nintendo!

I'm more worried by the fact that you are allegedly posting this from a ticking timebomb.

I am not saying this to talk smack on the switch as I think it is a nice concept but it really isn't any different than say any system that was able to plug into your tv.

They only made it look more appealing while actually being harder to do (connect to your tv) the whole slide into your base is marketing 101 but not actually better.

That is the only aspect of it that I don't like, I would rather it just plug into a tv simply... the other obvious and main draw is that it's their main console so it gets all the big games easily on the go. That to me is the key, not the fact that it's just portable. Not sure if it works for Sony/MS though...

Are you unaware of the Switch stock situation or did you see The Weeknd camp outside the LA gamestop?

Loving the salt in this thread

Amazing how some here can't possibly imagine why celebrities and musicians that are constantly traveling might find the Switch genuinely appealing.

Are you unaware of the Switch stock situation or did you see The Weeknd camp outside the LA gamestop?

Are you aware that ebay exists?

The Weeknd is a gamer and regularly posts him gaming. He even posted a instagram story of him with the Switch box at launch. He has also posted himself gaming with others on PS4. Cool to see celebs pushing the Switch, it is a great piece of technology and Nintendo deserves success.

So he bought it off ebay? The Weeknd? One of the biggest current artists bought a scalped version on ebay?

One call from his manager and he got one in the mail the next day. It's free marketing.

Or do you think half the Barcelona team also cleaned up ebay?

Never understood the debunking culture. If there is any semblance of positive news, in any format, there is always a certain sect of people who believe they are doing right for society by going through great lengths at convincing that the positive news is all a facade. Lies and deceit, conspiracy theories, realistic point of view, and all other sort of spins are thrown out there to make a simple situation look more complex than it really is. This thread is just a small, yet tame, example of that.

Maybe they were paid, maybe they were not. Maybe there's a mixture of the beliefs between all of these celebrities. Not every PR picture on the net needs to be analyzed and debunked, just to put a negative spin on it. The gaming industry wanted healthy growth (that would include Nintendo), and it's happening. As enthusiasts, we should be happy that the big three can be considered the big three once again, at least for the time being.

The point is that getting a Switch is not difficult for those with millions in disposable income. Switch goes for about $100 over MSRP from scalpers. That isn't a deterrent even when buying multiple systems. Hell they could pay someone to go and get one for them. If you have evidence that these units are being provided for free please provide it.

see how easy that is?

Fact is celebrities get free shit all the time. Because, again, it's free marketing.

Actually the burden of proof is on the person making the accusation. That would be you.

.. hmmmmm pretty sure I already said this basic idea in the very post you quoted.... You either read half my post and decided to chime in or you just didn't care after reading the whole thing. I think my point still stands that it is still a bit of a gimmick (how it goes into tv mode) and is a big part of their marketing and why people bought in to it early. I have always been on the closer to wii sales than not also

Already said it once but I'll say it again... it helps that it's their main console (console games) that goes portable easily, just wish the tv mode was done differently since the stand does nothing. Would be nice to just take a cord with me and plug it into any tv in a hotel eh?
