Baywatch doesn't understand parody...for 2 hours (Double Toasted)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud7oGRjxy3w

Whole review is hilarious.

It seems Korey is extra angry at Baywatch cause his boy Effy is bad in it, so it's more disappointing.

After 21 Jump Street and Chips, Baywatch is another R-rated comedy adaptation of a TV show but instead of making fun of the show and its tropes, it actually becomes more like it? Like it becomes an actual Baywatch episode, and even tries to get emotional ("they trying to get tears out of us, playing sad music")?

Instead of making fun of how all the guys and girls are hot in the tv show, Baywatch the movie as shown in the review just does nothing with it. "Titties is titties" with no clever joke to it. This is not Neighbors 2 level of awareness.

Korey brings up the bad dick jokes ("I felt sorry for the dick"), lazy fat jokes ("low rent Josh Gad"), swearing ("It's one of the most childish movies where I've seen them say fuck in the most childish way") and just bad all around comedy. Rob Huebel got done dirty. They show how Baywatch the original show is funnier than this. He laments over all the missed opportunities. It runs all the jokes into the ground.

The Rock can't seem to save this movie, even he checks out ("it's almost like he went to the writers 'I need you to write me out'"). Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is the funniest dude, but he's barely in it..

Even the Hoff and Pam cameos are done terribly, apparently.

Out of the comedy movies right now, even Snatched is better than this.

Both Koreys give it a "Fuck You" rating.

Lol, wow, pretty savage. I never really thought the trailers and previews looked very good for it, so I'm not surprised. I had already forgotten about that CHiPs movie lol

You enjoy watching people in a studio talking about movies?

Show pictures or video instead, if you want to make me interested.

Did he laugh his ass off with other critics in the theater before trashing it publicly? If so, that's a bold move

I get that the movies not going to be great, but why does a revival have to be satire?

The greatest reviewers of all time were in a theater.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Love Double Toasted. They're actually legit movie reviewers, which isn't easy to find on YouTube. Plus they keep things light and funny.

Can't say I'm shocked, really. The first trailer told me exactly what this would be. Also, for being a supposedly big budget action-comedy, it looks incredibly cheap. Glad they brought that up.

I'm so glad that Martin challenged Goodwin and Korey about the show being in on the joke. It definitely was not. It was just dumb and popular, but it wasn't some brilliant satire. Watch Baywatch Nights. Again, dumb and not in on the joke. Just taking whatever was popular at the time and trying to *slow motion* run with it.

Watched that yesterday, pretty hilarious review.
Baywatch and Chips always looked like sad attemps at getting some of that Jump Street money anyway. And Zac Efron just cannot pick decent scripts to save his life.

Surprised me how harsh they were on it after seeing Mark Kermode's review where he said he didn't hate it. He usually has a pretty low tolerance for the kind of stuff the DT crew discuss in their review.

I enjoyed both reviews though.

I mean.. Baywatch was never good so I don't see why anyone would expect this to be good. Dude got really worked up over this lol. I prefer Redlettermedia.

Stuckmann said it wasn't horrible. States the movie makes fun of itself and can be enjoyable if you know what type of movie you're in for.

Cause studios saw how commercially successful 21 Jump Street was, so they wanted to jump on that trend.

I mean, just look at Hasselhoff. Dude is now making money out of embracing and spoofing the campyness of his career. And that started years ago with the Spongebob movie.

Look...this show sucks because there's one main guy, and the rest, especially the guy next to him, just agrees.

Corey has a dominating personality, and I think it would be better if he would take a step back more often and let the other people have more of a say, but they all disagree with each other plenty.

What made the Jump Streets work wasn't making fun of the source material but the idea behind each's existance, remakes/reboots and needless sequels. When that is removed most of the cleverness goes too.
