As an adult who lives alone what do you do when you get really sick?

Can't ask a roommate to make a run. Can't ask Dad or Mom to help you out. Living alone and you get the flu what do you do when you don't have any of the things you need to recover?

Chicken Noodle Soup, Tea, various drugs for your symptoms etc.

Why can't you ask your mom or pop for help? I do it when I get sick, even though I live 30 meters away from my mom

This is me.

Thankfully I have a good relationship with my landlord, who had on a couple of occasions got me medicine and food.

Edit: And yeah, I'm a grownup so have a lot of the basic medicine I might need already in.

The flu? Just fight through it, make your own damn soup. Stay home for the day you can infect other people.

I always have stuff I'd need alread in the cupboard..Soup, juice, cold medications, etc..But I'll drag my ass out and drive somewhere if I required something else.

EDIT: When I was single and living alone. Now the old lady just takes care of me.

Same thing I always do- throw up and lie on the bathroom for waiting to feel better or die, whichever comes first.

You gotta be prepped dude. Always have dayquil/nyquil, chicken soup, pain meds and fever reducers, etc.

Nyquil was made by the Gods.

After the first time I've got soup and some meds ready. If I get sick I just stay in bed a few days till it's over.

Buy all the stuff beforehand.

Or use some kind of online delivery thing (like amazon's prime now) if you're in a city that has that available.

I've always had grocery stores nearby, so I just take a short walk and get what I need whenever I get the energy to do so.

If you have to drive to the store you should probably keep a supply for these occasions.

Call in sick, survive the first few hours of whatever I have, then proceed to play games or catch up on shows.

I was crook as a dog over the Easter long weekend. I spent most of my time in bed, downing Panadol cold and flu tablets that my parents purchased in bulk while in Bali and watching low-budget 80s horror movies.

Flashbacks to when I got food poisoning and I lived alone with no family in the area. It was not pretty. I thought I was going to fucking die. All I did was sleep, shit, puke, and drink water for 3 entire days.

That was not the kind of illness where its "lol I'm just going to play video games", which I don't imagine the OP is referring to.

Me? I rode that shit out, but there was one or two times were I was really scared. Mainly because I was so weak and could barely walk to and from the bathroom.

FYI, that was a bad double cheeseburger from McDonalds that put me out. I ate it on the way to a Lords of Acid concert in Detroit. On the return trip, I curled up into a ball on the floor of my friends backseat. From the time I ate the burger to when I was in my own private hell was around 3 hours. When I got out of the car to go into my apartment, they pulled away and I fell into the snow and puked my guts out for 10 minutes and crawled to my apartment. I still can't believe those fuckers just drove off without making sure I was ok!

I don't live alone anymore, but at the end of last year, my wife went back to her parents' home for the last month of her pregnancy (in Japan, it's either that, or the woman's mother comes to live with you), and during that time, I caught a fever.

I'm a pretty healthy guy, but that twenty five minute round trip to the supermarket was utterly exhausting. When I arrived back at the house, I just shoved my shopping bags straight into the fridge and then collapsed on my bed for about 12 hours. I didn't even have the energy to sort my groceries, let alone heat up the ready meal I had bought because I knew I wouldn't be able to cook that night.

When I was living in Japan, I got norovirus just after New Years one year.

Basically I try to have as much of what I'd need already in my place in case of an emergency. Unfortunately, with noro it was basically impossible to go outside for longer than 5 minutes without exploding all over the place, so anything I was missing? Well, too bad.

The lesson was try to have all the necessary shit for when you're sick. It sucks having to go out and take care of those things when your body is actively rebelling against you.

I make sure I have a stockpile of the stuff I need. But when I'm out sick I usually have lots of people asking me if they can help, and I take them up on their offers. Friends are nice to have. Do you have any that you could lean on?
