Nintendo may be holding back some stock for ARMS, but there's also Splatoon 2 to think about, that game's launch is going to be huge and Nintendo probably really wants to make sure they have enough units for the launch of that game.

They also have to hold back stock to create Monster Hunter XX Limited Edition consoles which is set to release in August in Japan ;)

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
I am going to Tokyo
Which switch-related purchase would you suggest ?
Apart from the supply constrained hardware

This is fucked up - Tobidase Doubutsu no Mori / Animal Crossing: New Leaf was removed from the Japanese 3DS eShop charts when the amiibo+ version was made available but has still outsold the other titles. In the DSiWare charts: Ferrari GT: Evolution should be at #09 and UNO should be #13 but both too were removed.

Why would i need to bet on something like this ?

Treat it as a vote of confidence.

Im just discussing sales potential of consoles, why you seem to be catching feelings and jump from one argument to another :)

My point has been consistent. The fastest selling systems of all time, PS4/Wii, had their highest years with 20 million shipments for one FY, and these were later FY's not the first.

Then here you come saying SW will sell, not even ship, 20 million in its first full FY.

This started with you saying that its unlikely that the Switch could catch up to the One in a couple years,

Yes because in a few (3) years XB1 could have a LTD of 45-50 million.

to straight up refusing that Nintendo could have shipped anywhere near 20m consoles by March 2018 to a bet.

Hold up. You said sell 20 million in a year. Thats quite different from having a shipment LTD of 20 million.

And honestly you might be right - for all we know Switch sales could suddenly start dropping and MS manage a mayor comeback with Scorpio/One..who knows. But just making fun of other users statements/arguments doesnt prove your point.

MS doesn't even need a major comeback for this to happen. XB1 just needs to maintain.

PS. I had the "Show Avatar" function disabled for at least 5 years now, so im probably not the partner for a Avatar bet since i never cared about them.

Damn

Lets go for a more productive conversation: what are your predictions for the Switch for the next two years? Be considerate that the XB1 may not have crossed 30 million sales worldwide yet.

LTD? 30-35 million.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
There is no difference for Nintendo shipped consoles are sold consoles for them. I said 20m by March 2018, that would include the 3m they shipped in Switches launch month and the 18m rumored/hinted for this FY.

But I don't really care much about this Switch vs. Xbox One after few years argument - I just wanted to know why you thought it was unlikely with the Switch selling the way it is.

Another drop for MK this week most likely indicates another low week of supply for the switch. Hopefully it improves soon but more likely we won't see a big supply week until arms releases.

18 million shipment for the first full FY is still unbelievable.

I love me some comgnet. But let's not go too crazy- if we are to take these charts literally it would mean Splatoon was going to approach outselling both combined 1st week. Which is of course impossible.

Are pre orders for the Switch version of Nights of Azure 2 not open?

No, we have no idea when it's releasing.

I'd also imagine the wider 3DS audience would be more likely to buy without a preorder. Who knows though... maybe the PS4 version will sell the most after all.

DQ11- 586
Splatoon - 498

85% of DQ11, not outselling. Comgnet of course isn't entirely representative. Still surprising for PS4 to become the lead SKU.

The 3DS version will definitely sell more than the PS4 but I'm thinking the gap might be less than previously thought. I do wonder if a potential switch version will hold back the 3DS version. Much like with MHXX I think gamers are ready to move forward to the switch and maybe that will take a toll on sales of DQ11. Whilst 3DS HW and SW are still selling the hype is all around the switch now.

He said approach outselling not actually outselling. 85% supports that. There is no way splatoon 2 come anywhere near that close to both versions of DQ combined.

Nah. More or less the same.

you act like being the best selling ps4 game is something horrible
It's most certainly horrible to all the stores that ordered more than they managed to sell, as in Japan stores order on their own risk and any price reduction and unsold unit is fully their loss, not SE's. And FFXV was vastly overshipped (maybe we should rather call it "overordered" as that's what it actually is). With that precedence stores will be more careful about the amount they order and stock of next FF which is a huge blow for what SE considers their core IP.

I still don't think switch is this unmitigated success a lot of Nintendo fans are making it out to be but if it manages to ship 20m by March 2018, that will go a long way in convincing me atleast that they have a big hit in their hands.

Yes it has had a great start and kudos to Nintendo for getting the marketing right and an absolute must have launch game in Zelda that made sure its hardcore audience adopted the system early.

20K is less than 28K. It's not a huge drop but if supply had went back to the 40-50K range instead of 20-30K I think we would see the difference in Mario kart sales.

If Nintendo manages to ship 20 million switches by the end of this FY than it will be an unmitigated success. I don't see how that is even in question. I'm not convinced that will actually happen though.

The point was that the sales are flat, I don't expect an increase for a while yet. They are stocking up for multiple SE console variants. Until ARMS don't expect major changes in stock.

Shame, would have liked to see how it stacks against the other versions

Can we expect any relevant sales from that PS4/Vita/Switch game from 5pb announced earlier I forgot if that is a new thing or a port/remake

I feel like that's just arguing semantics. I see 20K as a drop from 28K not flat. Regardless my point was that generally that indicates the switch will likely see a similar shipment this week (which you agree with).

I agree that we probably won't see an increase until arms but I still hold out hope for something sooner. These really are incredibly small shipments at the moment.

Ehh. The series peaked with Steins;Gate which sold 50k on 360 and 130k on PSP. The sequel (Steins;Gate 0) also sold pretty well.

Other games in the series haven't done as well, although Robotics;Notes sold 75k on PS3. The last game (Chaos;Child) didn't do so hot, launched first on XB1 and I can't remember it selling much; then launched on PS3/PS4/Vita and sold 10k on Vita FW and like 5k on PS4.

This entry (Anonymous;Code) isn't even part of the main series I don't think, don't quite understand how it's classified but it's "science visual novel" rather than "science adventure".

So long story short, it has the potential to if it gets the sort of buzz that Steins;Gate got, but I wouldn't expect it to be more than a 20-30k seller really.

01. [PS4] Tekken 7 < 70k (average 65k)
[PS1] Tekken 2 - 367,666 / 1,088,069
[PS1] Tekken 3 - 671,886 / 1,186,119
[PS2] Tekken 4 - 176,280 / 318,920
[PS2] Tekken 5 - 216,566 / 317,357
[PS3] Tekken 6 - 120,304 / 190,900
[360] Tekken 6 - 26,341 / 48,378

So it looks like 7 could potentially debut at half of 6's first week.

Any info if the Testpunch helped ARMS preorders?
In JP? Moved up from the 20~30's area to the 9-12 area on amazon JP. Comg preorders haven't increased at all.

The Testpunch kinda did his job there i guess pushing more buyers. Let see if moar Testpunch will help it more as the more vids of ARMS pop out in Nico Nico, it certainly will do even better.

maybe, maybe not, pre order numbers on amazon don't stand for the actual future sales numbers

Rakuten Books, in the overall ranking from 15º after the Direct, to 13º after the Testpunch, so no significant movement at all. In fact, ARMS Direct had a better effect, from 50º before the Direct, to 15º after it.
