Lines Snaked Through Entire Park for Disney's Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Debut

I'm guessing they mean fastpass returns are several hours into the day? Not like actually waiting in line. Otherwise I don't see why they'd even have a standby queue at all.

I agree that's probably what they meant. But it's worded terribly and obviously got people confused. And FP returns ran out early afternoon from what I saw- could have easily been well over 5 hours from when they pulled the FP. But that's normal on many days for rides like Radiator Springs Racers and Hyperspace Mountain.

Let me guess:

100% of the people who stood in that line posted in social media that ZOMG LOOK AT MEEEEE IM FIRST

I have to wonder how many people would have stood in line without the prevalence of social media...

Was getting caught part of your plan?

This is an Old Man Yells At Cloud-tier post

I bet the Cars ride still had a three hour wait and all the fast passes gone in 20 min.

Actually, other than the GOTG ride, there have been surprisingly low crowds at Disneyland this weekend. Radiator Springs had FPs available for much longer than it generally has.

My gf is visiting Disney World the last week of July. I hope that by then the demand for Pandora has normalized somewhat.

lol, not a chance. Was just there with my friends and we noped right outta there when we saw the wait just to GET INTO Pandora was about 6 hours.

That's surprising to be honest. I was there in the first week of April and was surprised how popular Radiator Springs was still. I got there when they opened on a weekday and I still only got passes for 7pm.

If you had a FP, you could bypass the line at your return time.

I mean they were still gone by mid-afternoon, but this weekend has been an anomaly. Probably because most annual passes are blocked out.

She's going to stay in a Disney hotel and plans to go to AK the day it'll open an hour early (8am to 9am) for Hotel guests (Magic Hours as it were). She's hoping she'll be able to ride both attractions in Pandora during those early and restricted magic hours. I think she may have a chance as long as she does get there at 8am sharp.

She needs to get there earlier than when they open. Should be there 7 at the latest. And she still might not be able to ride both without a long wait.

Might not be as busy in July compared to this week, but even I tend to get there about an hour earlier than opening whenever I visit. It's the key to avoiding crowds. Also she can't get a FP+ for at least one of the rides? If she's onsite, she should have been able to make FP+ reservations already.

If it makes them happy, more power to them.
Never gone to an amusement park, but I understand some people take these things very seriously.
Honestly, I wouldn't have the effort or patience to stand in a line that insanely long, so if they manage to tough it out, i have nothing but respect.

The ride wait times for most of the day were 120-180 minutes. There was only one small point that I saw that it was 300 minutes, but I think 300 minutes might be the cap for the counter.

I got in line at 8pm and rode it somewhere around 10pm. So it was a 2 hour wait even though the estimate time was 180mins.

She has yet to buy the admission ticket. You need that to order FP+ in advance. If she doesn't manage to grab FP+ for the Oandora rides then I'll tell her your tips. Hopefully that early hotel-guests-only magic hour might help.

Speaking of lines when we went to DW in 2015 no ride had a wait longer than 2 hours (we went to all 4 parks), but the line to get your picture with Elsa and Anna at the time was no less than 3 hours at any point and usually 5+ hours.

We said fuuuuuuuuck that even though our daughter was really into Frozen at the time. Disney really should have paid for a few other people to dress up so more kids could get their pictures instead of waiting 6 fucking hours and spending a huge part of their time at the park for a single photo.

Is this true? Why? Afraid people would confuse guests in costume with actual official characters?

Yes. They don't want guests thinking that non-Disney people are the official costumed characters because they have no control over them (other than turning them away at the gate).

I wonder if Zoe had to jump between Cali and Orlando since both parks had new rides based on movies she was in.

LMAO. It'll get worse. June-August is a notoriously awful time to be here, dude. Us locals stay away from Disney and Universal as much as possible during those months.

Yup. It's going to kill me to try to ignore Star Wars Land for months when it opens, but attempting Disneyland during the summer is a fool's notion if you're local.

Universal also had their new water park open this weekend, which looks absolutely incredible. Something like 3 hour waits for some of the slides I heard. Despite not being a fan of Universal Hollywood, they are doing amazing shit in Orlando.

Yes, how dare people share their life experiences with people they know or are following their lives.

As a long time hater of heat and humidity, standing around outside in Central Florida for hours on end during the summer months doing nothing might be my idea of hell.

Yeah I wouldn't try to go on that ride for a long while.XD There is no single rider line right (I don't recall if Tower of Terror had one)?

Haven't been since I was a kid, but I imagine not having clothes on helps, at least.

I can just imagine what it will be like at the parks when Star Wars Land opens.

I may spring for the VIP tour, and even then I'll probably wait a bit.

Man I was shitting on the theme idea so hard (such a generic theme, I'd personally go with fitting IPs)
But Jesus when the videos came in I was instantly sold and am adding it to our trip next year.

Two hour wait and fast pass tickets were still up over an hour after opening time.

I had fun this weekend. All the other rides obviously still had lines but they were quick. Longest time I waited was maybe 30 minutes for California Screamin.

I did end up riding the GotG ride but I came back around 9pm and had to wait about 50 minutes. Was worth it because it was a fun ride and was having fun playing charades while waiting in line.

Isnt there anything else to do in that huge building than sitting in a cart for 3 minutes?
It looks a lot bigger from the outside.

There are bad people everywhere. Do you want to wonder whether the Mickey talking to your kid / taking pictures / offering a special tour is real or just somebody that wore in a costume?

Given that we condition kids to be comfortable at DL/DW with costumed characters regardless of who's inside (and without speaking to them), it makes total sense for them to keep a tight hold on that realm.

Man, I cannot fathom how people are willing to subject themselves to that.

I mean what is the alternative really?

Can't really blame people when I personally waited in line nearly 3 hours for a horrendous water ride at Animal Kingdom the last time I ever bothered with that park 12 years ago.

Pick any attractions but the one with the 7 hour queue?

Am I the only one creeped out by grownups who are obsessed with Disney and Disneyworld/land?

Except my girl Leeness, of course

Last day of your vacation, everything else is completely done and you might not be back for a long time...
it would be acceptable

Its very silly but not completely stupid.

It will likely be that way for a few weeks, most people can't just say "oh well I will come all the way back in 4~ weeks to ride just that".
I know if they opened Star Wars Land during my planned vacation there next summer, i'd literally do everything else possible and then brave the lines.

Waiting for the Guardians theme alone is stupid but that assumes everyone has already been on Tower of Terror.
