If you want an indicator as to how WEIRD Tomino UC Gundam was, this episode opens with Yazan feeling up a guy's balls to make sure they haven't shrunk before they entered combat.

That aside, this was a freaking good-looking episode. The Zeta V.S. the Gaplant was super fun and tense to watch. Even with it constantly getting interrupted by Katz running around with Emma.

So glad we finally get some Van and some Fulcan action, I really just want these two brothers to make up, its so much better than this awful Hitomi Allen plot, like why does she see something still in Allen when Van has been there for her always.

One thing I like about Tomino UC Gundam, is that you constantly see goofy little moments in the middle of expository dialogue moments.

Like this scene here:

If literally anybody else had directed this, that guy who flew in the scene in the middle of that conversation wouldn't exist.

It sort of adds a layer of silly realism that you'd expect from a setting where people are in zero gravity, flying around with parts as they repair giant robots. It's not much, but it's a little detail that gives a bit of charm to spice up an otherwise normal dialogue scene between commander and squadron leader.

I think Totoko is on to something here. If you can't make it as an idol, you should try appealing to mecha otaku who are so starved and desperate they'll take anything that tickles their itch, like nintendoman.

It's better in the "it can get so stupid it becomes a comedy" kind of way, but otherwise it's exceedingly dumb and poorly realized.

Yeah, he's pretty good. It helps that he's completely bloodthirsty and only a Titan for the thrill of battle and nothing more.

The guy happens to kill the most annoying character in the entire show. He's a goddamn hero.

ZZ Gundam I've been told is a lot better than most people think. Apparently a lot of people think it's best to skip it entirely!

Technically, ZZ is sort of non-canon because there's no ramifications from it in any of the future U.C. timeline shows. It's sort of a "what if?" scenario. Lots of people don't like it because the first half has an emphasis on comedy which is a huge tonal shift in a sequel to something like Zeta Gundam, especially where it ended. Luckily, ZZ has a tone shift of its own that brings back to a more serious Gundam show. I still need to finish it myself though.

Interesting episode. Benten's meeting with Nidaime is as mysterious as ever, wonder when they will reveal the reason and what happened in London. Yashirou really in his own world enjoying his science lol. The Yajirou bit was sad and there's nothing wrong with Yasaburo being down about it. As for the last scenes with Kaisei, got an answer for a big lingering question, which is pretty intriguing for the exact reasoning. Also it's obvious she actually likes him but he hasn't really given off similar vibes for her. Taking Benten and that whole questionable shit out of the equation, they just trying to push this on him hard. It's not like it was with Gyokuran, we'll see how it goes from here though.

The plot isn't too far off from MHA. The son of the world's most famous superhero duo hasn't had his powers awaken and he goes to the super hero high school where you are chosen as either a hero or a sidekick.

The sidekicks are the nerds, the heroes are the jocks.

I'm gonna take a stab here and say the reason Croix is the way she is is in part because of the Shiny Rod choosing Chariot but also because when she saved Chariot as a kid she lost her magic because she took the blast from the pollen. That also explains why you never directly see her using magic or fly on a broom, only magictek things.
