(Maybe) A good thread just right before E3. Sony showed some interesting software last year, when will Sony release these games?

  • Spiderman
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Death Stranding
  • God of War
  • TLOU 2
  • Sucker Punch's new IP
  • GT Sport
  • Dreams
  • Knack 2
  • WiLD

My guesses
October 2017: GT Sport
December 2017: Knack 2
November 2017: God of War
February: Spiderman
March: Detroit
Early Summer: Days Gone
Mid-Summer: Dreams / Beta in 2017
Fall 2018: WiLD
Holiday 2018: Sucker Punch's new IP
Early 2019: Death Stranding
May 2019: TLOU 2

Oh yeah, almost forget:

All are pretty random guesses.

Spiderman - May 2018

Days Gone - February 2018

Detroit: Become Human - April 2018

Death Stranding - November 2019

God of War - October 2017

TLOU 2 - Q2 2020

Sucker Punch's new IP - October 2018

GT Sport - September 2017

Dreams - December 2017

Knack 2 - September 2017

WiLD - March 2018

TLOU 2 will definitely not be released until 2020 at the earliest. They showed off that trailer incredibly early so that the possibility of the game being leaked was much lower.

I think Death Stranding is farther along than people realize. I certainly hope so, Kojima seems to always run a tight ship when it comes to development.

Late 2018-Early 2019 for Death Stranding.

Gonna go ahead and guess that most, if not all, of your fall and holiday guesses are wrong. Sony will continue to gobble up marketing deals during that time so that they don't have to send their own games out to die. Q1 and Q2 work well for them. I don't see that strategy changing. That said, the occasional October or December release isn't out of the question.

Except that his first attempt at an open world game was the shit show unfinished product that is MGSV. Far from a tight ship there. He did fine with linear games though.

Nothing confirmed. Sounds like it might be able to make 2017, but I could easily see Sony looking at the holiday lineup and noping GOW to Q1 2018.

I think Death Stranding is farther along than people realize. I certainly hope so, Kojima seems to always run a tight ship when it comes to development.

Tight ship? MGS5 took like 5+ years.....and even then it only got released because Konami insisted on getting it out the door. The game they released was pretty clearly incomplete, and in need of 6-12 more months of development.

Part of what makes it near-impossible to predict Death Stranding is the fact that Kojima has huge ambitions and a blank check. If Sony gives him a long leash he could easily spend several more years working on the game. If they have something significant to show in terms of gameplay at E3, I might guess late 2018. If their next trailer is just more Kojima cutscene gobbledygook, then I would guess late 2019 (with an inevitable delay into 2020).

I'd be willing to bet any problems from MGSV development came from Konami. And for his first open world game it came out pretty damn nice across multiple generations of hardware.

Kojima was done with MGS after MGS2 but kept churning out (amazing) sequels for Konami.

And it's to be seen what kind of open world game DS is.

Kojima also doesn't have to worry about creating an engine.

I'd be willing to bet any problems from MGSV development came from Konami.

I doubt it was Konami that wanted to spend untold millions starting up an entirely new studio to build a Metal Gear multiplayer mode. There is plenty of blame to go around for what happened with MGSV.

Konami is to blame in that they gave Kojima enough rope to hang himself. His failure to make a complete game is on him.

It's so weird that Sony doesn't have a game scheduled for summer. I recall things like Uncharted 4, No man's Sky, TLOU, Infamous 2 and others launching on that time frame...

Spiderman May 2018
Days Gone March 2018
Detroit: Become Human October 2017
Death Stranding 2019
God of War September 2017
TLOU 2 2019
Sucker Punch's new IP 2019
GT Sport December 2017
Dreams November 2017
Knack 2 January 2018
WiLD fall 2018

I'll love either Detroit or GoW being a shadow drop for late july

I'm a bit surprised many think GOW will be 2018. I thought a lot was indicating a release this year? Now I am worried. :(

Regarding Death Stranding: If everything goes well, 2019 earliest. ;)
