Why would that be the case?

What are you even talking about? Neither of these things make sense. Also, it's odd people claim the rumor turned out to be true, yet ignore the part about the Switch also getting an exclusive MH game

. . . Explain how their US and Japanese support differ exactly

After the reveal, just about all of the people I follow that love Monster Hunter, all either in US or EU, were practically posting "Fuck Switch" the entire night after the reveal of World, mainly because it looks better than XX.

If the MH community doesn't want it on Switch, what's the point of localizing it?

Alright, for everyone still calling people out for even daring to be cautiously optimistics instead of OMG HYPE TRAIN; This precaution isn't a fanboy thing, heck it probably isn't so much a MonHun traditionalist thing... it's a Capcom thing. This the same company that try to AAA and westernize their games, and as a result, ended up with suuuuuuch beloved classics like Resident Evil 6, DmC, Dead Rising 3/4, and Raccoon City. Of course we're worried, and couple that with the seemingly accurate proposals in the leak, it'll literally take trailers announcing all the features we hope don't get cut to ease our fears. Regardless, we seem to be off to a good start, soo let's hope they don't fuck it up!

At least in Taiwan , Malaysia , Singapore and Hong Kong i guess. Not as much since the Smart Phone revolution but there are still a lot of players. I see people playing 3DSs on the buses/MRT at least once a week .

Really? I haven't seen anyone with a 3DS for ages now. Maybe once in several months. Everyone plays on their phones, regardless of age tho. Haven't seen a kid with a 3DS in years, literally. I wouldn't really say that there are lots of players in Asia who care about local multiplayer at all. That's not to say they don't own and buy 3DS games, but I don't believe it's remotely the same as the gaming culture in Japan.

The community 100% wants XX. It's a known game that gives us what we want, not something nebulous that might leave behind what we enjoy.

New monsters don't look bland at all, are we forgetting the OG's? Take those nostalgia googles off.

yeah, Brachydios and Zinogre are straight up anime and those didn't get introduced until the released of the mainline Gen 3 titles.

I like them going back to more naturalistic looking monsters, but wouldn't be opposed to some more outlandish ones.

Why would Sony pay for it to not come to one console, but okay it for Xbox, their main competitor as for as audience interest?

Alright I'll bite. The moneyhat can only go so far. Sony doesn't have the MS warchest to make it 100% exclusive as I'm sure Capcom could afford to charge an arm, leg, heart, liver for this series. Capcom agreed partial exclusivity. Also Phil Spencer was in Japan, so I'm sure he brought his bag of dough to get any Japanese game on Xbox One out West. He probably didn't care of Xbox One didn't get a Japanese release for MHO

Because the game is all about grinding, hunting for plates and rubies all day long. Being on portable means we can either get another run or two in while we're out and about, or get some minor tasks done, such as mining or amulet farming.

Also, from what I understand, Japan, where the game is most popular, people travel on public transport a lot, making portable the better choice ... or something, so I read.

If the game stays as grind-y as it always has, being on non-portable may just mean slower progression, which far as I understood, is not something MH fans or non-fans asked for.

Considering the success of Destiny, Diablo and a million other loot based games. You'd think they'd be open to "grinding". Drop-in multiplayer is great addition to ease players who are used to waiting in the guild.

Well, seamless zones don't necessarily mean that they've gone full-on Breath of the Wild with the game, and you can tell in the trailer already that there's definitely a bit of corridor design going on with the environments to keep things relatively contained to maintain the arena-style setup of the fights.

The trailer also seems to show a sort of fast travel where you get yanked around by a flying monster

Because then you can sell a portable version of Monster Hunter alongside your new western console title.

This looks so damn good, truly the monster hunter I've wanted since the PSP games. Been VERY tired of playing at 240p on the 3ds, ready for glorious HD on the PS4 and then on PC. Do not like the looks of that glowing trail though.

ARPG loot grind? Does that explain Monster Hunter? Is the combat good? Monster fights fun?

The combat isn't for everyone, but it's legit my favorite action combat going right now. Learning each of the 14 weapons is like learning a whole new game. It's great.

I probably should've said "The Western community" since I'm sure Japan is ready to eat up the Switch version.

Is it day time for you guys? It's been night time here on the US East Coast for a while.
Because then you can sell a portable version of Monster Hunter alongside your new western console title.
And how would they justify buying two very similar games and spending 500 hours on each without any obvious trace of cross buy/save?

And I'm talking about the western community. It's stupid to say the significant crowd that bought the 3DS games doesn't want the direct continuation of those games.

Somehow I doubt the vast majority of the MH community will turn their backs on traditional MH, so your question probably isn't too relevant.

About the Brute Wyvern shown...I actually like it. Nice natural colors, not too outlandish. Could use a bit of redesign to look less bland, but so far is okay.

Compared to my first impression of Zinogre, who has horrible color scheme, and too many spikes for a "wolf". I like everything else about it though.

So you attempt to rationalize fan disagreements by assuming that it's not genuine, merely console warriors?

That's hardly fair, and there were definite differences you could pick up on that may paint your views one way or another. Such as the stealth or the glowy tracking.

If some people see things positively, others can certainly see it negatively.

Edit; How would you explain the post above mine based on your prior interpretations?

There are reasons to be critical that have nothing to do with console fandom. There are those who are underwhelmed by the graphics, and that is perfectly legitimate. But the various concerns of combat being dumbed-down are not supported by this reveal.

Exploration sounds a little different, but how do we know if that is really bad?

That's just my overall opinion. I want to stay out now, and let other users dominate this thread.

So something I haven't seen much discussion about: Swimming is back.
I was JUST thinking about this. With the new improvements and additions to land traversal shown, this could mean very good things for underwater gameplay.

So many things to be excited about with this game.

AND FINALLY WORLDWIDE RELEASE!!!! so freaking hype.

Huh , not sure if its just me (and my traveling route) but i do see Teenagers and adults playing on Buses and MRT, at least once a week. (This is also true when i travel overseas). The worst are those who play on a crowed MRT in SG , i dont know how that can enjoy the game and they are blocking people path.
