Shadow of the Colossus Trailer PS4 (E3 2017)

I played the remaster, enjoyed it and the superb ending but I think Ico was the better game.

EDIT:

Holy crap the redone visuals look great.

You always hope your favourite game of all time will get remade for current times but you never actually think it'll happen. I am completely shocked by this announcement but incredibly happy about it too. Can't fucking wait!

that was the point, controlling the horse was supposed to be like controlling a real horse, you were supposed to be stumbling around on the colossi as they moved back and forth

i think those animation changes to the model might have to do with having to redo the character model of Wander

Well, it just wasn't fun. What's the point of trying to mimick real life in a fantasy game about giants? In real life you also need to sleep and take a pee, but that would be a really boring thing to do in a game.

I don't think the younger audiences would appreciate it all that much unless they change that part of it, but could be wrong.

I really want this.... but I also kind of don't. I played this on the PS3... and I could NOT even climb that first Colossus.

Then I quit :(

Regarding the animations of the original, this Extra Play video makes some (nitpicky) observations. I'm very curious to see how Bluepoint handles them. From the reveal trailer, the run cycle seems to have been improved.

Its not about mimicking real life its about mimicking a struggle and desperation

Younger audiences arent dumb or so different from those who played the original

They either like it or wont but this is a special game that theyve never experienced elsewhere

Ummm...no? The game's story is set by a guy who's mastered that narrative style more than almost any other developer, so I'd rather not have the fanfic + the extra colossi that were probably cut for a reason, thankyouverymuch. Maybe as unlockable extras in a boss mode though.

I think the extra colossi were cut for technical reasons and not creative ones

Looking at the trailer again, the only thing that doesn't look magnificent is Wanda himself.
Infact, he looks somewhat off.
The head is too small, and he looks stiff, especially when it comes to his cape and hair animations.
And improved running animation also wouldn't be bad (it was already a shitty running cycle when the OG game came out after all).

I'm torn on this. I'd like to see extra cut Colossi from the PS2 release, but it might hurt the pacing of the game.
If they do add it I can see it added as something to do after the credits roll, you get a little cutscene and you follow the light from your sword to a new area.

FF7 is a remake. Completely new gameplay while retaining core elements of the original.

This looks like a very well crafted remaster, on the same level as the Crash Bandicoot trilogy. Gameplay looks identical, right down to Wander's running animation.

Could count as a remake too just like zelda oot3d and mm3d, cuz these are upgraded graphics too normally they only slap 1080p + hd textures and done.

But honestly those kind of ports should not be even called remasters more like upresses.

If this were to feature all of the colossi cut from the original. It would kind of act as both sequel and remake, in a weird kind of way. I'll take it if it's just a straight up remake, but to add other material than no one has played before will make this is a must buy for pretty much everyone with an interest in it.

This is one of those things I've always asked for but imagined it'd never happen. Really was the game of the show for me. SotC is one of my all time favorite games, and I would love if it gets released on every PlayStation even. It's a bona fide masterpiece.

Honestly I don't need it (unless it has new colossi) since the original is one of my all time favorites and I still like how it looks. But it will be amazing for everyone who didn't play the original. Hopefully they improve the physics from the remaster.

I still can't believe this is actually happening, my favorite game of all time getting the remake treatment and looking this good! But man the negativity here is disheartening. :(

I just bought a new PS3, in part so I could finish SoTC HD... But fuck it, I'm in.

I just hope they've improved the feel of the controls somehow. They could be a bit... Janky.

They have my money :)
This was my favorite reveal from the Sony conference, never managed to finish the first game because of how frustrating the control and physics were so hopefully that's rectified in this remake.

Definitely on board for this one. The original on PS2 was way overhyped. It was good but the controls killed it for me. Perhaps this one will improve on that.

I dont see any reason why theyre doing this unless theyre adding in the cut colossi.

I mean they could definitely fine tune some of the grip detection and maybe give the game a satisfying ending?

..They're doing this because they want to?

And give it a satisfying ending, is this a joke post?

I'll tell you what definitely needs some work before the final product hits shelves...

Ueda had another idea for the ending so id like to see it. And the whole point of a remake is to give incentive to play it over the HD version.

SotC has one of the best endings in gaming.

It looks better.

Although i wouldn't mind some extra content, as long as it doesn't fuck with the narrative too much.

Infact, i'd like a free form mode, where you can tackle any (except for n1 and n16) Colossus in any order you want.

New content doesn't bother me. I've played through the game so many times and also the PS3 remaster so many times, I'm fine with something new.

But I hope the new stuff is kept separate from the base game. Like a new mode or something.

Would be nice if it was like Last of Us Remaster and had a documentary and some cool extras like that too.
