Do you want crossplay on PS4? Make your voices be heard.

But there is crossplay?

Paragon.
Final fantasy 14.
Street fighter 5.

Can you really blame Sony for crossplay with xbox if Microsoft require an xbl login?

But to answer your question, I'm not at all bothered.

Lot's of people did not read my scenarios on why crossplay would be nice to have...

Here I will make it easy,

"If after just reading the description you don't know why you should want it, let me try (lol) to paint you a picture of a possible future for gamers.

You are going on a trip with family or even alone. You or your kids or friends take your mobile devices with you and when bored use them to play x game while on the road, at the hotel or wherever you please. You are having tons of fun progressing through the game with friends online or alone. Now, you arrive home exhausted and want to sit and relax so you boot up device of choice and load up x game and pickup where you last left off.

OR

You are at the office, you play x game with your co-workers when taking breaks. Some on mobile devices some on PC some on console. X game has a shared world. The clock ticks the magic number and it's time to go home. A bunch of fellow employees ask if you are going to be on and you say yes. You go home and can choose whatever device you desire to load up x game and jump back in with your friends in the same world.

This whole time you never had to stop and think about what companies hardware ecosystem you had the game on and that you had to build your life around in order to make this happen."

I have zero interest in getting a PlayStation.

But I'll throw in a tweet tho. The more the merrier.

How about #PS4theCrossplayers , as a take on their advertising slogan? Perhaps too long though.

Anyhow, good post, I have tweeted all three and will probably work on a snail mail letter over the weekend.

You will always have that option thanks to it being part of MS's requirement for crossplay.
If that is the case for PS4 cross-play (I have an option to turn it off) then I'm not against it.

I want options to play against only PS4 users.

Edit - No 3rd account sign-in please.

Personally I don't care about it. Put me down for "I don't give a duck."

You know what would be the perfect solution in my mind? No sign in's required, but Discord gets implemented on all devices. Then we'd not only have cross play but cross communication.

.

Seriously, why the fuck is this outrage even a thing?

Well in the scenario I presented you'd be able to have cross play with full comms. You could organise to play with people on GAF etc and the system would be a non issue all together. It would be nothing but a positive.

I have no problem finding opponents on PS4. For me to complain when there's no problem at all, I'd rather not waste my time and the Sony Devs time when it could be better spent on meaningful features.

I've been meaning to ask, does anyone on PC, PS4 or XB have issues finding players in Black Ops 2?
That game isn't linked AFAIK, it's another popular game so I'm curious how long the queue is.

I am totally down with crossplay, so can we please change the title so it's not a mix of "make your voice heard" and "let your voice be heard" please

This thread is fascinating. Just in the other thread I was trying to point out that probably not enough people care and that's why Sony feels they can get away with it and yet here we are on a hardcore gaming forum and more than twice as many people don't care than do. Way more people than I expected.

I like to play Rocket League. It would be nice to be able to play with Xbox One players (and eventually Switch players as well).

Even if you don't care about Rocket League or Minecraft, there's a possibility this could affect another future game that you do care about. It would be good to convince Sony to embrace cross-platform play now, while the list of games is relatively short, than to wait until a larger number of games are out and the whole thing gets more complicated.

Why are people so obsessed with this now when apparently it wasn't an issue before? Don't get me wrong, this is good for the industry and hopefully Sony does something about it, but I'm confused.

Because it seemed fruitless. Once upon a time, Sony wanted to, but MS didn't. Then MS wanted to, and Sony didn't. Then PC got into it and it was ok, then Switch showed up and things got weird and optimistic.

There has been no better time to push for it than right now, with three of the four major platform holders on board.

Well, one of those platforms is "open" and doesn't have a singular central "platform holder", but I get your point.

Regardless of how the various video game console manufacturers felt about this in the past, we have to keep their current positions in consideration.

#PS4NoDRM did quite well, but I suspect console tribalism might undermine this effort. Not that it isn't worth a shot!

And you can call them. Ask to speak to a supervisor.

Sony 855-999-SONY (7669)

I know it's odd just to go to this one bit and I kinda doubt many will do it, but has this ever been shown to work? Escalating your support call to a supervisor over this seems like a sure-fire way to do nothing except irritate the managers.

I'm not quite picking up what you are throwing down. Could you elaborate a bit? I'd be glad to PM a mod to change the thread title if everyone thinks it could be better.

I'd think that this would show how serious people are. Irritated managers would be more likely to send the message up the chain faster in hopes of alleviating the cause of their frustration. Apparently Sony support is bad enough and in my experience the people you initially get for almost anything are worthless lol.

I'll change it to, "Ask for a superviser if you think you need to" though.

This is a good method of raising the issue to be honest. If you piss off management it's going to be heard.

A lot of that comes down to expectations. People don't appreciate the ramifications of it, they're fine with the status quo, so be it. As things get rolling, the benefits will start to come into focus in a way people won't so readily ignore.

What exactly is the issue with third party logins? Like in EA and Ubi games they just use your PSN info until you go to their websites and change that information yourself, it's not like you have to go out of your way to do anything

The "no DRM" thing is a much easier sell to the common consumer. "You won't be able to buy/sell used games" has an immediate,
easier to digest impact.

Not if I have to use a special log in.
Cross play between Ps4 and pc is good.
And not going to lie, one of the pushes of the PS3 and PAN was getting away from Xbox live stereotypes. Why would I want them back.
Plus Switch multi don't you have to jump through hoops for voice chat?

I don't really have any personal desire for it, but I know there are plenty of people who do so I'd love to see it on PS4

Very detailed thread, and nice meme lol.

Of course there's still the people only thinking of themselves lol.

Can only think of a few people I could play crossplay with on another console, but I still want this to grow.

Because in the last few days several different games announced cross play across several platforms and Sony is missing in action.

I'll definitely tweet about this. I don't care much about rocket league or Minecraft but there could always be a game down the line that I will care about and would prefer Sony support this. I would love for this to just become standard so I can buy everything on my PC and still be able to game with friends in the PS4. So it's decided that we're using PS4Crossplayers?

For those that don't want a 3rd party account, do you stay away from Ubisoft and EA games too?

Honestly it is one more step that can be hacked.
Plus it is a hassle.

Or maybe some have already seen cross play on consoles and aren't sold on the feature ?
Cross play is not a new thing. maybe some players have already seen the feature and have an opinion about it ?

It's because it mostly affects a casual game Minecraft. If it was let's say destiny that got gimped over this be more outrage. Once the Minecraft update comes out Sony will hear it from that user base big time.

Quack.

Someone earlier said unless there was a unified chat system, then I'd be all for it. Otherwise I don't give a 🦆 and unless this is coming to something like Battlefront or COD, meh.

FIFA/Madden/NCAA players were connecting our gamertag and PSN ID to an EA Account years ago so linking a PSN ID to an Xbox account is not that big a deal.

Why are people so obsessed with this now when apparently it wasn't an issue before? Don't get me wrong, this is good for the industry and hopefully Sony does something about it, but I'm confused.

Because it was a pipe dream back then, now it's something that devs and publishers are embracing and it's only Sony that is stopping the dream becoming reality.

Just use the hashtag #PS4crossplay

People are already using this to request it.

No need to make it more difficult by using "crossplayers"

Being able to play with another game on another platform has been done. Crossplay like this, potentially between all platforms across a mounting number of games has not been done. By all means though, share your opinion if you have one. The more discussion the better!

I'd be more confident in this working if Boyes and Co were still at Sony. As it stands I don't think guys like Jim Ryan or Shawn Layden care about this stuff unless it actually effects their business.
