2 years means we are going to see some of those E3 2018 I guess, I also think it's better that way, MS rushed to many games this gen, Recore was a great game that suffered from that so take your time, at least he's talking openly about that.

I will give him the benefit of doubt because MS is killing on hardware and services right now, so hopefully the software will as well.

So you... don't think that the Xbox One will have exclusive games in 2-3 years? That's an interesting bet. I'm sure you've thought it out though.

But is it 3rd party? First party.

People are tired of the "talking" stage with Phil. People want to see results.

While I appreciate the restraint in not showing games 2+ years away. How was Halo 5 released on October 27th 2015, now 20 months on, and we don't see a trailer for Halo 6, which going on prior 3 years per mainline Halo game means 2018 release date? Not ready to show or not releasing next year?

Same goes for Halo 5 4K updates, surely they were aware of X1X and planned/developed for 4K content when in dev mode, shit Forge PC is 4K already. Seems Halo is missing on a number of fronts and has nothing to do with Phil's statement.

Was my biggest standout as missing from the briefing. Will see how things develop in that space going forward, and I hope it ends up being some awesome looking titles. I personally wanted to see what was on the horizon regardless of how long they would take, but I suppose I can't entirely fault the reasoning. We as gamers will always want to know more and see it now.

Wait, signed? So exclusives from third-party's?

What about the first party stuff?

Apologies if I misread, I'm ill right now.

First party will have Forza Horizon 4 and Halo 6 next year at the least. Those are known quantities.

MS seems to be moving to a model where they aren't running studios and instead farming out work.

Not understanding this logic that this means 2018 and 2019 will be bad

I'm sure hes agreed on projects in 2015 and 2016 that haven't come into public fruition yet

Hes saying he agreed on things recently that will take 2-3 years to develop, not that he agrees on projects every 2-3 years

Show us or shut up Phil. He's so full of shit.

I think Phil's hands are tied. He clearly knows Xbox doesn't have enough games, but you see how he passes the buck to Nadella. Microsoft probably doesn't want to give his division the money it needs to develop exclusive games.

Got to be like Nintendo show us just a title even if the games ends up releasing in 4 years /s

I mean Days Gone, Spider-man, GOW, Detroit, GT Sport, Uncharted LL etc.

By the way. The issue with this is why is Phil even saying this? People are already skeptical of their first party output. So you're pretty much telling people to wait longer in order to see what's in the pipeline?

it is a bit weird.......hes basically saying if you didn't see anything you liked now....might as well not buy our console for the next 2-3 years

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

He doesn't say anything like this, everyone assumes Microsoft is doing nothing and they're completely okay with it. He says something like this and everyone raves how it's too late for these games, Phil can't be trusted and that they're too far away.

All this talk is exactly what I didn't want to happen after this E3, I wanted them to have a couple of big surprise or even one. The narrative is switching to 2018 already, exactly what happened last year "wait till E3 2017"etc etc. It's getting a little silly.

The thing that really stand outs for me is, he shouldn't need to be asked so much about this, he should know or the division itself and Microsoft should be a bit more aware of what it needs to do.

Become that distrustful of him and the other Xbox guys in the press, the main figureheads as it were, I feel his response to this talk and feedback will be to announce the IP most of the core people who follow this stuff fully expect them to next year and on and on we go. And yeah I would love to be wrong on that.

His main goals?

What's funny about that statment is that Phil had a very different tone in 2015. His 'goals' was apparently games and he hated talk about "what piece of plastic" you play it on but then again their marketing push that year was "best xbox lineup in gaming history" or somthing so he was doing his usual PR spin and later contradicting himself.

Tbh at least you know something is there for the future with this approach. What he's basically saying here is wait a little longer. Sadly this seems to have been the message for the last couple of years and its wearing thin.

Do you guys have no reading comprehension? He's giving an example that's shows he is actively signing games and that he doesn't want to show games of to early. Not that any new games they have coming won't be for another 2-3 years. Do you guys not read the OP, going by the OP's title choice he didn't either if he thought that was thread worthy.

It is incredible how quickly people have seemingly soured on Phil Spencer.

To be fair, I just think executives should show more and say less, but it seems like a good thing for Xbox owners that they've signed some exclusive deals? It's weird because earlier this week he had other comments about exclusive content and holding things back from gamers...

Meh. This is all a big "nothing" but E3 really ratchets everything up.

And so the roundabout continues. I thought this was the make or break E3 for them. I wonder how much longer he can keep stringing Xbox fans along

It's seems to be a problem with a lot of Phil threads lately.

Seriously. Its the same thread but as this but titled to stir controversy, poor form from OP.

This doesnt mean he hasnt approved games months prior to e3, hes simply signed some recently.

As an Xbox fan, I'm fine. We've got hard release dates on exclusives coming out before the end of the year. A few that we've been waiting for awhile. That, coupled with the normal multiplat stuff, plus some old Xbox OG stuff.. I think I'll be fine. For awhile at least. :)

I've found that a lot people just read the thread title and have to get a witty response in before anyone else.

He's popular with he fans, hes delivered a super console which is what they've wanted since X1 was unveiled. Lost Odyssey free, Phantom Dust remaster, Xbox Elite pad, paywall removed from XBL, OG Xbox BC... hes loved.

It's a thread people can jump on Phil for you think people read or use any common sense?

He could say the sky is blue and the grass is green and people here would still jump him for it

I thought that exclusives were holding back the industry or something. Can't keep up with Spencer.

His point was XB1X should have the best console version of, say, Destiny 2 because they have the best hardware, but won't because of Sony's marketing deal granting them exclusive content, and he views that as problematic.

I agree that it comes across as sour grapes, even disingenuous considering XBox exclusivity in the past, but his statements are being put into contexts by people looking for hypocrisy.

It's one thing to say you were focused on hardware, but the software situation right now is as bad as the hardware situation was in 2013.

I don't think the majority of Xbox players have turned on him. I'm seeing the same rage from the same people in just about every Xbox thread. No matter the subject.

Signed exclusives?

Thought he was against that on Monday.

He says he's against exclusive content where things are exclusive to one version of a game and not available to the other versions of the game.

He didn't say he's against exclusive games period. Why do I need to explain this to people?
