So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

This has to be the most "ghost" console i've ever seen.

Reports say it sold amazingly, however, stores are full of them, and i've never seen anyone with one...so either everyone who bought a switch leaves it at home, or idk where those reports are coming from..

Help some gaffers out. Where do you live with this plentiful utopia of switches.

My friend that works at Toys R Us told me that they can't keep them in stock for more than an hour. So something is "full of it" here and it's not the stores.

reports say it has sold amazing in Germany? My impression is that it's very, very hard to find in US and Japan, but other countries not necessarily so.

Germany is a big country with a big population. Dont expect to see everyone with a Switch. The Switch is just 3 months old and with shipment problems.

wow you literar not only didnt read what i wrote but your imagination also added some lines that i never stated or implied

that some dedication

US.

GAF is too US focused, guys.

In Europe, outside of UK and Fr, there is no shortage (Italy here).

I mean, literally no shortage of units

New big lots will arrive in US, maybe next year.

For now, resist the pain... or buy it from Europe.

I never knew that companys can see in the future and see the actuall demand for their products. Seriously, thats totally bullshit.
What if nobody would buy the system and they would have produced 5 million in advance. Storage costs would be gigantic!

Yes, that's actually part of being a business, to gauge the future demand of your product. Do you think they spin the Wheel of Fortune to decide?

What is going on in this thread? Just to make conversations flow more easily in threads like these, I'd generally caution that it's probably beneficial to just note up front which area you're talking about. It's also generally beneficial to not -- whether explicitly or through implication -- try to extrapolate from anecdotal experience. And I mean that regardless of the angle one is approaching from. "Wow, I've yet to see this thing on a shelf it's really doing gangbusters!" "Man I find it hard to believe this is doing that well when I can't go to my local store without tripping over a veritable minefield of unsold Switches!"

Simple reports of "hard to find here at (insert location here)" or "my area seems to have a healthy supply" will suffice.

Hm, I never saw one in any store. :/ Either in Cologne, Dortmund or Düsseldorf.

But to stop this bullshit on jump of this train...in the end in doesnt matter. The console is doing fine and that is important necause it means we get more games.

We don't have any Switches here in Spain (at least around Barcelona), but it's likely that is because in the first weeks there were still many to be sold, so Nintendo decided to ship new units to markets with more demand, like the US and Japan.

Guys, istocoknow.com works.

Tips:

Put all the Targets in your are or immediate area on your notification list.

You will get notification throughout the day but best bet are the ones that you get late at night, overnight or very early morning

The chances are good that those Targets that show in stock overnight will have them in the morning when they open

Go to said Target and buy your said Switch! You can even call just to confirm

Enjoy your new Switch!

Apparently works for Walmarts too but I don't have any Walmarts near me to verify..

You're the real MVP. Got an iStockNow notification for one target at 11 pm last night. Called them immediately, and they said "there might be some on the truck, I dunno *checks* yeah we might have just gotten 3 in, but they won't be off the truck til 3 am, so they'll be available in the morning"

Got there at 5:45 for a 7 am opening. Nobody else showed up until 6:51. I got one, someone else who waited got the second, and the third is probably gone by now. These things last on the shelf for minutes!

I see a good number of switches where I live in the UK but right now I'm in Florida on holiday and when I've been looking I haven't seen any for sale.

I wanted to buy ARMS in Walmart but the guy on the checkout hadn't got a clue what it was. Ended up in GameSpot (sales tax sucks, America you need to sort this shit out)

Also picked up a copy of Issac in target which is nice as it's not out in Europe yet.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Damn I got lucky. A buddy in Chicago snagged one for me that he saw at Target from that stock site

Target in mount Vernon NY has around five just sitting here, picked up neon with Zelda, was surprised to see, clerk even thought they were demo.

I came back from Fnac in Paris: 1 month delay if you order now. The store manager said they never had Switchs on shelf since launch. On amazon.fr it also says 1-2 months delay.

what the fuck I called them at 11am and they said they had none. I was closer to the area at the time (at the Target in College Point, also no luck), and could have gone. Now it's likely to sell out before I could make it there. bullshit...

Ireland is experiencing the drought now. We had plenty of stock leading up to June but the last few weeks there has been very little of anything.

Managed to scrape in an order for the Neon during that 10 minute window on BestBuy.com

I'm gonna wait until it says preparing before I cancel my grey Gamestop bundle order though.

Yesterday I bought one used. Paid € 365, including Zelda and 1+2 Switch and a carying case. The outer parts of the screen had minor scratches on one side, from the dock i think, and the gamecard of 1+2 switch doesn't work most of the time.

Where i live (Belgium) in my city, big chains like FNAC and Bartsmit still have no stock.

Apparently Greece must have a lot of unmoved stock, many big chains are promoting the console for 299€, it used to be 330-340.

Would pick up one for 299 EUR. They're 350 EUR here. Lots available, Nintendo should ship some more to the US it seems like.

Lol mate, you have to pay for it. If it's not the debit card, which it doesn't sound like it is since it didn't hit your bank account, then it's going to be an open-tab that you'll need to close out (every month). Don't expect to get a Switch for free.

Just curious - if people find them, is there a small market on GAF to buy and sell (at cost + shipping), or are people just holding out? Like, I almost bought the one I saw today to move on GAF, but I don't want to sit on it for a long time and have it take up space.

Just out of curiosity i checked my local Argos stores (I'm from Sutton Coldfield, uk) sold out for collection and home delivery. Didn't expect that tbh!

Was at Walmart yesterday looking for Animal Crossing amiibo cards (there are none.) and saw a sizeable line of about 7 in electronics. Shelf was empty, but they were either buying from the counter (how I got mine a few months ago), or they were just backed up for various other purchases. I'm still checking the stock sites every so often out of curious and Portland has been barren since launch. Either you gotta camp out or be in the know. Have yet to see one on a shelf.

look people, whoever says Switch is "readily available with mountains of unsold consoles everywhere" in Germany, that's either one saturn/mediamarkt in a small ass village with 10k people or people just jumping to conclusions because they happened to see some consoles available in their local store,

it can be seen in stores, unlike the NES mini, but it sells out, is not readily available

I've seen that happen several times, consoles come, they stay for 2 or 3 days, they sell out, repeat.
