ARMs is very boring to watch. And it looks like it would get pretty stale fast too during play. Can't see it making a splash like so many people seem to believe it will.
This game was in the running to be in EVO.

I hope that vote to get your game in at EVO never happens again.

It's basically long range punch out with specials and stats.

Valle is streaming it now and I can safely say it's the most boring fighting game I ever watched. There is no excitement to it.

I played the Demo. It's nothing great. Fun for 20 minutes and casuals will have fun pounding each other by mashing things. I don't see it becoming any sort of competitive game long term. Good for the kiddies though.

Anything salty Champ says anything about SFV I just start cringing and cannot take him seriously. It's objectively clear he's always been a Marvel player and an SFIV "09'er" so obviously he will have sort of bias but he's completely disregarding players/pro players (like Tokido) who actually prefer SFV over previous titles. Then he goes onto compare it to a MvC game which is like comparing apples to oranges.

Revolution 2017 has been announced for 6-8 October in North London. It's nice to see a traditionally anime tournament become one of the biggest events on the European calendar and nice to have a Pokkén event in a year my travel budget is a big fat zero.

Oh nice. I might go take a look. I've already booked my tickets for EGX event in Birmingham (which is also a premier event for CPT) so I can't wait!

Where does he talk about his favorite street fighters

And being an 09er has nothing to do with criticizing a street fighter or not because all of them are different anyway

I always find Nintendo fighters to be a snooze fest as a viewer. Fun to play though.

SFV vs Marvel is a Spike vs Johnny thing. They re two very different games. Being a total lab monster has never really been a thing in SF to the degree it is in other games, and people who wanted that sort of creativity were looking for the wrong thing. It's why guys like Max and James Chen have never been happy with it. It's not a game about exploration, and that's ok.

Really? I find Pokkén and Smash 4 enjoyable to watch most of the time, but Melee does nothing for me. Given the choice of Injustice 2 or Pokkén to spectate, I'm picking Pokkén every time.

I should give Pokken another shot as a spectator. I think E3 last year soured me on attempting to watch it anymore.

I'll admit that Pokkén zoning can be a drag, but the game has real crowd pleaser characters like Blaziken, Garchomp, Machamp and Pikachu Libre.

Smash 4 depends on the characters playing for me. Bayonetta and Cloud are hype, but Sheik, Diddy, Rosalina, and others bore me to tears. I'm liking watching MvC:i matches already, I think spectators will like watching it who don't play it because it looks so crazy (so does DBZ too).

After spending an extended amount of time with the E3 build of MVCi I can tell you 100% it's the same thing as the demo. Game feels, looks, & plays the same way.

Zero's dashes are god awful. They have so much recovery you literally can't do anything after using them.

There is no impact or weight behind anything in the game.

ah man, that sucks. i was really hoping it wasn't the showfloor/new game effect. i had that shit happen to me w/ skullgirls where i got to play it several times before it came out and was like 'god damn everything feels so good! fuck marvel, i'm playin' this'

...then it released officially and turns out i hate that game's feel more than any other fighting game which is super unfortunate because i really wanted to like it+how godlike all the surrounding features of the game are

is there no CEO thread, or nobody cares about KI?

That's one thing I never got the closer I looked at Street Fighter as a whole. Its the vanilla ice cream of fighting games but because of what it is people want it to stand on this level where it doesn't need to be.

All the popular anime are pretty flashy. And gaming wise even more so. Seeing someone saying that is like an oxymoron to me. You like things dull but you are a big anime fan. Games and everything.

When MvC2 came out I thought it heralded a new direction for fighting games. I expected everything to have tridashes and assists. I established it as the new norm in my mind - it wasn't flashy, it was what fighting games were supposed to be like from then on out. When SFIV came out, I rented it and was completely confused - why was it so antiquated? Marvel wasn't flashy to me, but SFIV was dull and uninteresting.

Dahbomb

So if someone says they don't like flashy things but they like anime are they full of it?
No? Plenty of good anime aren't flashy at all.

That's like saying "if you like movies you like watching shit blow up" because all the popular movies are blockbusters.

It's a different kind of game, though. Street Fighter with crazy anime and VS mechanics wouldn't be SF anymore. Closest we got to that was the Alpha series.

Killer Instinct coming to Steam?! DAY ONE! :-D

I'm not arguing that - look at the post I responded to.

That said, I think you can significantly increase SF power levels without losing the base of the game. Killer Instinct feels like what a Street Fighter could be (in terms of character diversity).

Looking around social media, pretty much everyone else who has played it at E3/CEO says the game is mad fun. Even some people who were talking sh*t about MvCi during Monday's E3 reveal were praising it after playing at E3/CEO.

They also say Zero seems really good.

Should we believe them, or someone who has been crapping on Cacpom for the past year in pretty much every thread on NeoGAF?

Neither. People should play it themselves.

Now that Tekken is over.

Zero:

So Zero doesn't have level 3 Buster Cancel off specials anymore. When he gets to level 3 with his buster & cancels a move it adds a brand new move to the end of whatever special move he was doing.

So far

Fireball level 3 is a ground pound explosion that goes in all directions.

Lightning level 3 is a wierd super version of jumping H(HP). Can't seem to combo without tag.

No more up lighting, just across & down. Lightning is done with qcf K.

Level 3 Buster is hella slow on start up. Not the wiff punisher it once was.

Dd for SRK. Really annoying.

As I said earlier his dashes are trash on recovery. Like if you did uncanceled lightning in UMVC3 bad.

St. M is gone. He has a weird kick now as st LK. C. Hk is a sliding sweep. C. Hp is old c. H. C.lp is old c. M. C. Lk is old c. L.

You can't do his launcher it seems unless they are guarding or hitting. I tried a bunch of times & it didn't come out.

There is a huge delay before your shadow does the follow up in Sogenmu. No way LL is possible.

He's slow as fuck. Seems more like a zoner.

Strider:

You play Strider with Reality Gem no doubt. My gameplan was to save my meter for Oroboros & Reality Factor & go ham. He goes haaaaam. Stupid hard to block.

His inputs are all fucked up. Qcb P is like gram. Dd is teleport. I couldn't figure out how to get all the animal types. I could get bomb & formation B only.

Formaton B doesn't seem to OTG.

Zoo Super is stupid. Basically you call it Tag & just go ham with the point. They have to take it.

Super low double jump overheads seem gone.

That's all I can remember right now.

Tryung to WD is a death sentence righg now. You're guatanteed to get fucked up somehow.

ZTS thanks for impressions. I think Zero looks interesting. You can still Buster cancel his command dashes right? If so then more recovery on his dashes are fine.

No really where does tokido talk about sfv being his favorite
Why the hell are you quoting yourself?

Side talk but this is the least hyped I have been for EVO since '07.

Not saying I am not hyped at all, it's still EVO and hype shit will still go down. But something feels lacking about it this time around. Despite it being Marvel 3's final year it feels its momentum died down since the donation drive. Should still be a competitive event but right now two players seem well ahead of others.

Blazblue has even less momentum than Marvel and that's also a Sunday game. I think most people forgot this fact even. People are clearly more hyped got GG than BB.

T7 I hope US can dent international players but it's same song and dance as always. Despite it just releasing on console the fact that it has been on EVO before makes Tekken at EVO less enticing than it should be.

IJ2 is Sonic Fox city.

SFV I am hoping for most because US has superb chance at securing win but at the same time, Capcom Cup seems like the bigger SFV event now. No one even remembers that Infiltration won SFV lol!

Smash is whatever, I am interested in seeing Smash 4 on big stage. Melee is about the same old dudes, I don't think it's topping last year at all. That was probably peak Melee for me personally.

At this point I am just waiting for E3 2018 with new Marvel and DBZ games in there.

I don't actually need anybody to convince me about Zero. If someone had told me that Zero would be strong in Marvel 4 before Infinite was ever announced, I would believe them on principle.

First EVO I'm going to and I'm still pretty excited. The last two Capcom Cups were great. Especially this past year.

Enjoy it. I'm probably going to skip this year since I need to pay for my last year of school that I have to do to make my teaching credential permanent and skipping two days of summer school work is about $400 of pay that I can't afford to miss right now. I'll likely do SCR, and PSX though, especially since PSX is back in Anaheim again.

I've always wanted to go and experience EVO but it's impossible for me since I live in EU - next best thing for me is a CPT premier event I'm going to in the U.K. in September. Have fun!

IDK about that. Combo Breaker is fantastic but the spectacle of EVO is something else. Being in the building is special.

2017 will be my 10th EVO.

Tripon

if its hard to get to tournaments and you can only make 1, make Combo Breaker your goal instead of Evo.
You can do both, just pick one the first year, then the other the next year.

Only thing I know is that I'm not going to do CEO next year for sure. I'll let others beta test if the Daytona arena works out. I did beta testing for Evo last year and it smelled horribly.

ugh, this is depressing to hear. sounds like it's 8way airdashers only for me then. i'm assuming it's because you have to wait a bit to really get momentum and doing it sends you flying into attacks since there's not that fine level of control over it?

It's that and most characters have down down for uppercuts so that with input leniency means you might randomly get a move trying to do wave dash.

If you have time to explore the mechanics surrounding Morrigan's new trap move, I'd appreciate it. It seems awful.

So if d,d is teleport for Strider, that means he only gets a behind teleport I assume? Which means no more teleport mixups - if you see a teleport animation, you reverse your block. Is that accurate?

That means I should probably assume only one teleport for Dormammu, and holy fuck if it's d,d I will be pissed. How would that even work if you teleport while in the air?

ZTS thanks for impressions. I think Zero looks interesting. You can still Buster cancel his command dashes right? If so then more recovery on his dashes are fine.

I am hype for GG Xrd. Dizzy could make top 8 since she's not trash anymore, and Ogawa is always a joy. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else I have to look forward to. If the next SFV reveal is Abigail...lol. I will pay attention to KI top 8 since it's coming to Steam and I want to play it.

KI isn't at EVO as a main game.

No some characters have 4 teleports (like Dr Strange), one for each button. Strider has multiple teleports too.
