So how about that heatwave this week in California?

As a lifer from Cali, this "heat wave" really isn't a thing. It was mid 80s yesterday, and even 90 something in socal is really just dry heat. A fan, some shade will do nicely but of course sitting in an AC cooled house is always best.

Everything always seems to be so dramatic.. HEAT WAVE!! Oh, wait.. todays high is Orange County is 88 degrees. This is the kind of weather people move here for lol

I don't know about you but the weather of this state is not what I consider a positive here. Plus even in dry heat 115-120 is pretty fucking high.

50 degrees celsius? The fuck? Can you even get out and not get immediately burnt to death at such temperatures?

Parks are nice and dead for running here in Modesto. We'll be peaking out at ~113 so it shouldn't be too bad

The max temp I've endured is about 36 C, so... about 86 F. It was with a lot of humidity though, I guess around 70%.

In any case, I simply can't imagine what it must feel like in the 48C-120F range. It seems crazy to me.

Well no shit it's nice on the coast. Literally 95% of the state is inland and is experiencing extreme temps. Hell, even in Irvine most people I know have A/C.

I wish it was that temperature in my part of California. Today's high is gonna be 109. I have an electric fan and AC in my apartment, but still...

When you used to live in Mexicali, the weather here in California right now isn't too bad.

still, the lack of air conditioning sucks when going to bed.

I see a cachanilla brother! And yeah, Mexicali prepares your for almost any weather int he world

It's actually not that bad. Yeah, it's hot, but as long as it's not humid, people here deal with the weather fairly well

Yea, was 105 where my dad is and 110ish at a friend's. Only hit about 94 where I am, but I don't have AC so it was pretty shitty inside.

Dry heat is a lot better than humidity.

For instance in NYC our temperatures don't get as high as it does in Arizona, but we have humid days in which we are literally soaking wet even if it's not 100 degrees.

...you know people live in other parts of the state right? Mid 80s for you yesterday? Dope, that sounds nice. It was 20 degrees hotter in my city yesterday. It's going to get a few degrees hotter on some days this week.

Hold on to your 80s and 90s.

As a European who travelled around the Death Valley region once in similar heat: It's better than ~30°C with high humidity. It really does feel strange, though. Like if you open an oven door and the heat suddenly is all around you. Quite manageable for a couple of minutes, I'd say, but nothing you really want to stay in.

Wow you mean the closer to the coast you are the cooler it is? Who knew.

Just cleaned my pool and ready chill all week! ...too bad the AC in the subie no longer works, luckily my commute to work isn't too long these days

I'm a lifer from Cali too, and it's 93 degrees before 9 am. So, yea, the heat wave is legit. Shut up already.

Phoenix GAF checking in. Didn't get to work early enough for covered parking. Gonna need oven mitts for my drive home

A coworker's flight was delayed yesterday while the plane cooled off

Luckily I live near the ocean. It was way too hot yesterday so I walked a mile west and it was perfect.

The hilarious part to me is places like Huntington Beach, last year people were complaining about the heat and it was just upper 80's. I thought it was paradise.

The Twin Cities have been hit with rain for a couple of weeks now and it's looking like it'll keep raining. Nothing wrong with that but uh.... It's ruining my summer because I can't go out to enjoy the damn heat!

The good thing is is that the temps are remaining in the mid-60s to the mid-70s. So it's at the point where it's nice yet cool. It's going to get humid after all this rain though.

Yeah, downtown San Diego is only going to be like 80s this week and people are complaining it's too hot.

On Friday around lunchtime, the temperature had reached 84 degrees near downtown, and San Diegans were already losing their minds.

lol, San Diego Tribune.

Guys, I mean if we're by the ocean then of course we're going to dodge a bit of heat. You can see that it's not nearly as bad right along the coast. In Ventura and it's expected to get in high 80's at worst.

RIP central valley or literally anywhere not right next to the coast though.

I just assumed summer had started. Last summer it got up to ~110f (44c) regularly in these parts. I'm still counting myself lucky we haven't hit triple digits yet in my area.

Maybe I need to move. I'm not built for heat, it kills me.

It's made sex difficult and awkward but simultaneously more sexy.

There is a limit where it gets too hot and my stamina drops like a rock and there's nothing sexy about it. I hate summer.

That is probably going to spread eastward, isn't it? Ugh.

We're going to be unfortunate enough to be driving around the Death Valley/Mojave Desert/Las Vegas area right smack in the middle of the heat wave.

I'm afraid.

No thanks.

I've lived all over the country, including places where it's in the 90s for 3 months straight, and <75 is my ideal.

I'm actually worried about this. I'm supposed to fly out of gateway airport tomorrow at like 2:45 or so. I don't want the flight to be delayed.

On a side note, I'm working from home this summer, so I don't plan on going outside today. Its 9AM and my back porch reads 91°F/31°C currently. Its only going to get worse.

It isn't anywhere near that in the UK and we're acting like it is the apocalypse. We don't have AC though.

Praying for West Coast gaf
Huh. 31c in London. 29c in Cardiff. Where I am it's around 27c. But yeah, anything over 30c and I hide behind a fan. At least it isn't stupidly humid.

No way would I want to experience 35c+.
