I love how they're building it up. The best course of action would be to slip in their nonexistence in some press release or via Spicer but nope, we're dealing with a countdown.

Is there someone who know hows executive privilege works that can tell me if he can say the tapes exist, but say they contain sensitive or classified material, so he can't release them to the public?

"They do exist, but my hands are tied!" seems very Trump.

Even if there are tapes - which there aren't - wouldn't releasing that create a whole shitstorm with a ton of important people how the White House has recorded their conversations?

If they don't exist, Trump once again is outed as a liar, if they do, he creates a ton of new problems for himself. What an idiot.

Say he admits that they don't exist. Now that he is under investigation for possible obstruction of justice and everything he's done, including his tweets, are possible evidence, could they use this tweet as intimidate a witness? More so given that Comey is central to the whole thing anyway.

His own people said his tweets are official statements.

Probably dead wrong though, which is why I don't work in a law profession.

I think one of the worst things about this administration is that everything is turned into a primetime special. I mean here we have the announcement of an announcement to be scheduled at a time when he can book interviews etc. 45 threatened Comey with tapes months ago, Comey was asked about those tapes weeks ago, why the delay?

Listen guys, "Tapes" was in quotes.

He was repeating what WaPo said.

He thought Comey was making tapes.

He meant Obama's microwave was recording them.

"Tapes" means Comey's notes.

This is fucking hilarious. What does he think he's achieving by waiting to admit that they don't exist? Does he think Comey is sweating about it? Or, well, anyone?

Because no one is.

Because if he had hard evidence that Comey was lying, that he was prepared to release. He would have released it right away. It was a dumb threat to try and stop Comey doing what he has now already done. The bluff was called. No one folded.

So cards on the table Mr President. Time to stop stalling.

This orange clown blurts out a ridiculous claim because he can't help lying, and then the whole Whitehouse operation has to go along with it because he can't be wrong about anything.

Meanwhile he's totally cleaning up Washington graft and corruption and making America Great Again.

There are three possibilities:

1. Trump records everything by habit and did so when he was a private citizen. In which case those have now been deleted.
2. He doesn't record anything and is and was full of shit for no good reason, as usual.
3. He didn't record anything before, but has started doing so since this mess began.
