Diablo 3 - Necromancer Pack - June 27th - $14.99

I'll buy it, it's 20$ Canadian which is about the same as a pizza order. I can handle that. Plus, as people are saying, one class offers a lot of play time. I plan on trying out the class one set at a time as well. I hope this inspires them to keep pumping in some more content to d3 until we get d4 at least.

Yeah, if Diablo 4 or a second expansion is a long ways away then I hope they'll continue with these character packs. I'd love to see druid added in.

The price doesn't bother me too much, but then again I never bought the first expansion on PC either. It was cheaper just to wait for the PS4 version to drop down to about $20-25 and just get that since I greatly prefer playing the game with a gamepad or remotely on my Vita.
I do like summoning character classes like the Witch Doctor, so I'll probably get the Necromancer eventually.

But I am pretty interested in trying out PoE since I've heard a lot of great things about it in the past and keep seeing it mentioned a lot. Shame it's still not out yet for the Xbox One, but maybe I can try out a Steam controller config and see how I manage with the PC version.

D3 has received over 2 years of free content/updates so Blizz asking $15 for a new class alongside more free content is more than fair.

I'll be buying this day one.

That's how I feel. The content updates have been phenomenal for D3. $15 in the bucket for a game I've spent 600 hours on, is nothing for the enjoyment I've gotten.

I'll be buying this day 1. I was thinking it would be more expensive considering it's Blizzard.

I will say though, Path of Exile is the king of the ARPGs at this moment and I love GGG.

Exactly people who stopped playing after D3 and never bothered to pick it up again since RoS lots of things have changed so much it is not the same anymore.

The price is a little steep but not really surprising. I'll pick it up since it's Blizzard and my favorite D2 class. I'm much more interested in info on the D2 and WC3 remasters than anything else right now. D3 never had the staying power D2 did for me.

While I would've love to see the Amazon & Druid classes to make a return to the Diablo series (either in III or a future instalment), $15 isn't asking much for a sizeable chunk of content.

Hell, I've yet to play the other classes, nevermind trying different builds for the Batbarian & Crusader classes, and those alone provide hours of gameplay.

An entire new class is not some map pack. How can some of you say that 15 dollars is to much?

It's a new freaking class. If you're invested in the game, that is a lot of gameplay that is potentially interesting to you. On the other hand, its not locked behind new areas or story which forces you to pay for a class you're not interested in.

IMO a new class could easily be 20-30 dollars given the amount of hours that went into RnD and prepreduction, design, animtion, effects, ui, testing and qa. A staggering amount of people are usually involved to bring a new class to lie, and it takes the work of nearly every department from sound engineering to networking to programming to get a new class to work. You're talking about many thousands of collaborative work.

This is not like some minor thing that a bunch of map designers or modellers conjured up in a few weeks. A new class is a big deal. 15 dollars is a very competitive price.

Now, I've not tried the class, so I cannot speak to its quality in specific, but generally speaking you get a new class in a 40-60 dollars expansion and that is seen as a major feature. So it's hard for me to see how 15 is too much.

I'll likely get it, the wait for an actual follow up expansion or sequel is painful but 15 bucks, even if I just dink with it for one season is probably worth the price of admission.

$15 for one class. Or $0 for six new acts? Hmmmm. Tough decision.

its actually as easy a decision for you, an obvious fan of POE, as it is for someone that doesnt like POE and likes Diablo.

Life is funny that way.

Yep, that would be just the carrot I need to begin the grind again. Whether it's a small batch of DLC trophies from the content pack or a fresh set of trophies and a platinum from the new full version of the game, I'm in if it happens.

I wonder if Blizz will say anything about it or if we'll need to wait for the content to release next week.

I can almost guarantee, in usual Blizzard tradition, that we'll have to wait for the content to be released before we know anything. :)

I've gotten the feeling that i'm in the minority when it comes to really enjoying the story of D3 + expansions. Would love more story content.

Let's bring Leah back from the dead. Let's forget Cain died too while we're at it.

Seriously, where can they take it? The whole Nephalem thing kind of killed the series to me, as the thought of Humanity in a crossfire between heaven and hell was a much more compelling narrative.

Seems pretty pricey -- although not that bad, considering Blizzard charges $10 for golden heroes in Hearthstone -- but I'll be a sucker and pick it up. I've needed an excuse to play more Diablo anyway.

As an aside, it's kind of funny that they call the pack "Rise of the Necromancer," because it continually makes me think I'm reading "Crypt of the Necrodancer."

Was hoping for an extra chapter.. I'll probably won't bother getting this.

The D3 team thankfully has realised that the story is unsalvageable and has instead focused on making the game more about dungeon running through rifts that cut out the downtime. I just hope there are new real bosses in the new areas for rift guardians.

I can appreciate the addition of new content to a game this old, but Necromancers aren't really my thing and there's pretty much nothing else here. Taking the price into consideration, I'll pass.

Hopefully Diablo 4 is in the works because there's a certain irony in introducing a Necromancer class to try and revitalise a game that's dead to most people.

Meanwhile, Path of Exile is doubling the size of the game, making sweeping balance changes and providing useful quality of life updates, all for free.

Sorry Blizzard, the D3 ship sailed a long time ago.

D3 is still more fun to actually play than POE. POE feels floaty and lifeless with its action. It feels like a F2P game.

Man, Blizzard is like the ultimate slowpoke. They lost out on the MOBA phase and are now trying to catch up on the F2P after their competition in each field has left them in the dust.

Outside of Diablo 3 being a pretty fancy game to look at, it'a a super simple, bare bones, treats you like you're 5, and laughably trying to imitate its competition (that some people seem to think is not as good). I can guarantee you that if you stopped playing Diablo because of that day-later fatigue, you're not going to be playing this game for 2 days cause you're still gonna be bored. A new character won't freshen the game because the characters are fine, it's the world, items, and general ease of the game that people dislike.

Idk about that. I've come back every other season or so, and the updates are pretty lackluster. Update a couple old legendaries, some new transmogs, maybe change the OP set from last season(unlikely), and maybe a new legendary or two. I won't compare to PoE, which I mainly play now, because they momotize way differently, but if they added a new interesting mechanic for each season akin to PoE it would definitely bring me back more.

phew okay, was thinking more like 10 bucks but it's okay. I have nothing to play atm and will gladly return to Diablo 3 and start a new charakter. so yeah...count me in.

No thanks.

$15 is fine, but the game still has serious problems. Especially the paragon leveling system that throws the loot based game away and makes the endgame a boring exp grindfest.

At this point, it really should have been a 2nd expansion or Diablo 4.

15 bucks for a character class in a Diablo game seems like a decent value proposition to me. It certainly veers towards a perceived upper limit, I think 20 bucks would have felt too much to me.

Of course, the fact that the Necro is such a beloved/iconic character class in Diablo plays into this heavily.

Can't roll my eyes hard enough at the people comparing this pricing to PoE's updates.

Also for frame of reference, this is the company that charges the same price ($15) for a helm skin in WoW. Purely cosmetic change in a game that already has an upfront and continued subscription cost. If you want to argue about value and pricing, that's a better place to start.

Feels like forever since I bought anything D3 related and Blizzard has done a decent job this whole time trying to keep the game going, I'm in

All I wanna know is did they fix the trophies on PS4 and will I get the trophy for LV70 characters if I get Necromancer to LV70. I have every class in both genders on LV70 and that damn trophy didn't pop.

To me, by itself that's not a great value proposition. 1 class and some cosmetics. But I'm willing to overlook it and pay for it anyway just because their general support for the game post RoS has been decent.

Well, where could they take the Diablo III story?

Well at the end of RoS
you have all the prime evils freed because malthael sucked up all the black soulstone energies and still died, and then Tyrael closes the act with fear of the nephalems power and wondering if anyone in the high heavens could stand up to them.

Personally I wanted the act 6 bosses to be the
Angiris Council members, to go along with the seed planted by Zoltun Kulle that essentially humanity was tired of being the chew toy between the forces of Heaven and Hell and they should rise up against the forces of both sides to determine their own fate.

Blizzard's content updates after a couple seasons in were below average especially with the huge gap between each one.
