Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

If it's the game I'm thinking about... it might be the game announced by EA back at E3 2014, but I am pretty sure they cancelled it in 2016. :/

Yeah, that was Criterion's project and it looked awesome

It was canned and now Criterion is doing nothing but Star Wars projects.

oh yeah, thats dead.

Criterion is building up to work on solo games again though, they have been hiring like crazy for the past year, they more than double their staff

☹️☹️☹️

Hello all, long time lurker, longer time PS fan (i actually own a psp go). finally got a GAF account. I am hoping bruce straleys game is a new Jak and daxter game with elements of BotW and GTA. That would break the internet.

Detroit's been confirmed for 2018. The fact that they didn't mention it at E3 makes me think it'll arrive in the second half of the year.

Despite what Layden said about I think all the games at E3 with dates were coming in the first half of 2018, I can definitely see Spider-Man, Detroit and Days Gone coming in the second half of the year.

Seems like I wasn't far off. I still believe Detroit will be out this Holiday. I also think Dreams will get a full re-reveal this year, maybe at Gamescom or PGW. Finally, still believe From's new game for Sony is Bloodborne 2. They are just toying with us to not reveal anything.

Misdirection doesn't really make sense in this case though. Why would you lie about not making Souls games anymore after pumping them out three years straight?

That's IF Sony gets another game by From. If they do, I think it'll be a new IP

It was for the games in the conference specifically dated "2018". Detroit and Days Gone were not, Spider-Man, God of War and Shadow of the Colossus were.

Dreams...man, just show us something MM!

PSX blowout is too far away!

My backlog is serious though, so I shouldn't complain too much, but I do plan on mostly finishing my must play stuff this summer, and Dreams, Destiny 2, GOW, and GTS are probably the only must buys on day one I can really think of coming out anytime soon.

Hopefully dreams is coming out in 2018 anyway..

Tangelteman (Here They Lie studio) seems to be working on a PS exclusive game again if we go by their hiring positions at Gamasutra. They are even under PlayStation as a subsidiary over there

Also, Impulse Gear (Farpoint) hiring for a PSVR game, listing is brand new and has a position for concept artist, so my guess is for a new project already

I'm still hoping Sony actually returns to Gamescom this year just to get a Dreams info blow out sooner than in 6 months.

Good catches, lead combat design suggests a shift in direction from Here They Lie.

Glad to see Sony is supporting PSVR better than most of their add-on hardware.

Excellent, especially the Impulse Gear one! Will buy the bundle this autumn for sure, the support for that thing is better than I first expected ;)

Just realized that Detroit is up for pre-order at the PS Store. Didnt expect that, since stuff like Spider-Man and Shadow Of The Colossus that will prob be released before are not up

You know what? I think these upcoming first party games are really going to be killing it in the music department. The Days Gone and God of War themes are extremely memorable.

I'm hurting with this God of War blackout. ;_;

I hope Sony will buy Bluepoint Games, so they can do more remakes

Yeah, they clearly work incredibly well together since they've basically been non-stop projects together for a while now, so if it'd help make things even smoother and there'd be plenty of games for them to choose from.

You guys think it's safe to assume we won't see a new Ratchet & Clank until Insomniac is done with Spiderman?

I don´t know. They´ve said they were all on Spider-Man but they have some VR games going too so maybe they could do Ratchet too? I sure would love it.

As long as they don't mess it up, Insomniac's not going to be "done with Spider-man" for a while.

Seeing as they've had multiple projects going on before, won't be shocked if a smaller team is working on a Ratchet game right now.

Who knows what the release date would be though. If PS5 is holiday 2019, I wouldn't be surprise at it becoming a launch title. But if Insomniac has gotten rid of the multiple project structure, then Early 2020 or holiday 2020 launch (which could also, again coincide with the PS5's launch depending on which year is working out for Sony)
