Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

I progressed two levels with work off tonight and I should be able to finish it this weekend. I played far too much today having done the entirety of the Azim Steppe and unlocking the level 67 dungeon. I can't wait to try it out tomorrow! Spoilers for the scene before it:
I really loved that scene before the flooding of the castle took place. It was so light hearted knowing they were going to war.
Allisae resting on Alphinaud was rather cute as well showing they really are family even though Alphinaud is not as strong as her. The invasion scene was great... and Yotsuyu really looks creepy as a child during that flashback that plays. Also, Lyse is so amazing.

can we talk about how good it is that the uncapped tomestone stuff is super cheap

Well, it's going to be obsolete in 2 weeks.

But it is nice that they're letting us get to 310 pretty painlessly.

I forgot to mention when I fought King Moggle yesterday for the first I seriously think my ears did a triple take on that theme music...
Nightmare Before Christmas as hell, loved it.

It is.

The best.

I don't feel pressured to cap weekly on the lesser tomestones, and the amount of runs I need to do is cut down significantly. Hell, I'm quite happy when there's a newbie in expert. Bonus is life.

It's possible to farm mounts from the extreme primals solo right? Like the ponies. An undersized party setting can still drop em yeah?

Yep. The only thing you don't get undersized are exp (irrelevant here) and tomestones (other than newbie bonus).

If I buy the Job Level Boost for the Monk job, will the cutscenes for the job quest line be added to my journal so I can watch them?

Also, which youtube video do you recommend me to watch to learn how to play monk?

i mean, you're not going to be decked out in full prototype omega and whatever the weekly capped currency gear is in that first week. it's technically "outdated" but you won't be able to replace every piece right away.

So what's all this about tanks wearing str right side again? Is that just the materia meld that gets that?

So what's all this about tanks wearing str right side again? Is that just the materia meld that gets that?

They went back to the original tank damage calculation--tank Attack Power originally scaled off of Strength. 1 STR = 1AP

In Midas, they nerfed it and made it so that tanks scaled with both STR and VIT, but at a lower rate. So 1 STR = 1 VIT = .45 AP. This meant that tanks would wear fending accessories, since the vitality on them gave tanks more damage, and then meld in Strength. They might occasionally wear Strength accessories from Slaying sets if the secondaries on a tank piece were bad, but for the most part tanks used tank jewelry.

In SB, they've gone back to the original version of 1 STR = 1 AP, but they've made it so all the SB accessories are job-locked. Tanks can't wear slaying SB accessories, so they either use Fending which only has VIT and so gives them no extra damage and meld a single STR VI in, or they go back to the i270 STR accessories from Creator.

Which sounds crazy, but VIT doesn't provide damage, it just gives you more HP. Once you're over whatever the threshold is to tank a fight, more VIT is wasted. So for the current EX primals, tanks are running around in i270 Slaying right side because they do significantly more damage than they would in i300 tank accessories. If Savage doesn't have a bunch of super high gear walls, i270 slaying accessories may come into play for prog and/or speedkills in farm.

Like, the obvious solution would to put strength on Fending accessories if that's how they want to do it, but then somebody might feel like they're supposed to DPS while tanking and the world would end or something.

Kingsglaive outfits please thanks.

Did Aura players get any unique dialog in Ruby Sea / Azim Steppes?

I haven't been reading all the text (on the contrary) but a Xaela in the Reunion said I, a Xaela, emit "exotic aura" and must be from "faraway lands".

So I decided to pick up the game, and I'm having a good time, but I'm having some difficulty deciding what class I want to main. I started out as a lancer and enjoyed that, but I've started messing around with gladiator and pugilist like, and both seem interesting. Does any one have a recommendation of what I should go with? I'm not looking to min max my way the through the game, but I want something that will be fun to play through 50 before I try out some of the new classes.

Yep! Tailored to the different Au Ra races even. I play Raen and a friend plays Xaela and we got different dialogue in the steppe, which was neat.

There's also a MSQ scene that recognises if your player is a healer.

Hey y'all. Me and the GF tried making an account for the free trial to give the game a go. My account works fine but when my GF made hers, it instantly came up with an error when trying to add the confirmation code and throws up Error code i2501. I looked around and it seems like a transaction ban? She can't play the game with me until this is sorted out.

Wondering why this happened, are they iffy about making 2 accounts on the same computer/IP address?

Magnai and Sadu are totally going to be a thing in the future so they should just hurry that along, that dialogue about him looking for his moon and her not looking in his eyes and trying to metor him is so blatant

Not that I'm complaining, there like a suped up version of Ysayle and Estinien with more murder and tsundere

So going through the story I'm noticing that the bosses in dungeons and trials feel like they take about twice as long as ARR/HW bosses/trials (outside Extreme sync fights). Is this because at this point playing ARR/HW content everyone is completely overpowered and bosses go down quick whereas in SB people aren't maxed out in gear (even though it sure seems like most people are downsyncing from 70 already), or did they up the HP for dungeon bosses & trials in SB compared to the other games?

The dungeons are going to be super dependent on who's in your group; things hit harder than people are used to with some of the older content (look at the defense on a level 65 gear piece compared to an level 270 one; it's huge), which may lead tanks and healers to play more conservatively.

Leveling dungeons should still come in under or close to 20? I've been running a lot of dungeons this week and usually the long runs come in at about 25, with the shortest I can remember offhand being a 15-minute run of the level 63 dungeon. None of the bosses themselves seem like particular standouts, aside from the last boss in the level 63 dungeon since if you're too slow you have to deal with an infinite length jump sequence.

They should be dramatically shorter than the original ARR ones--nothing like Toto Rak for example--and at least so far I haven't found them to feel overlong, but given that EXDR was a 12-13 minute deal by the end of HW they will feel like a step up from that.

I think our run on the lvl.63 dungeon was like 30-40 minutes and no one died on our team. Same with the lvl.62 dungeon (30-40 minutes). Guess it's luck of the draw based on your team and like you said people are playing more cautious with the SB dungeons. ARR & HW dungeons all felt around 15-30 mins like you said.

I've only done the 61 and 63 dungeons so far, and tbh they feel pretty easy for the most part. I haven't gotten anywhere close to 15-20 minute runs like the other poster said, more like 30-35, but none of the boss mechanics seemed especially punishing. In fact I was shocked at how fast they seemed to go down.

If anything it's the nerfed aoe making trash pulls take longer.

Or alternatively the jump potion people. Anytime I see someone with just one level 50 job and then they're a Samurai or Red Mage I suspect them. I've had some particularly wonky dps (I'm tanking) so far this expac

Finally hit 70 on DRK tonight and was looking forward to getting my AF3... I've made a huge mistake. This is one of the most boring armor sets I've ever laid eyes on.

Really considering re-rolling to PLD, AST or BRD since I'm not completely sold on DRK's gameplay.

I play as a Xaela and one Steppe NPC said my mother must have made a certain type of food for me when I was younger. So there was definitely some recognition, but I would have liked to see it more during the MSQ in that area.

When I got my pre-order plus CE stuff I had a similar problem but it told me my system mail messages were full so I had to delete some, relog and the rest of my items were sent to me.

Keep getting the version check failure error when I try to run the launcher.

Been looking for and trying solutions for an hour and a half and no dice.

Things I've tried:
Reinstalling
Changing DNS
Changing Boot.cfg
Restarting (and shutting down completely) my PC

This sucks :/

Edit: Can't even get on to the Lodestone website.

Someone carry me through Susie EX these groups are awful.

I don't understand, also, why I, as RDM, am not priority rez all the time. Seeing as how I can instant rez infinitely, surely you'd resurrect me first? No. People resurrect the SAM, or the MNK, while I lie there watching them fail at mechanics.

Welp, resubbed, time to dive back in. Haven't played since September 2015. Now I just need to decide whether to tackle the rest of Heavensward and Stormblood as a WHM or DRK...

But the pros told us yesterday that all the SB EX Primals are faceroll content! Why are you sucking?!

Probably better off going AST or RDM at this point.

I haven't seen anything, so I'm just slapping PIE everywhere and crit anywhere I can't put Piety.Aside from maybe the weapon and accessories, none of the stuff we can get right now will make it into raid anyway, and it makes it easier to heal through people that can't jump rope. At some point somebody will work out spell speed value; I assume det is still trash.

Sounds reasonable, I was afraid of putting too much pie and then getting used to the mana regen, making it hard to come back off it.

About how long do y'all think it would take to level AST to 60 though POTD/Dungeon spam? After the gutting of SCH, I need a healing class because I'm a healer at heart and I'm VERY tempted to buy a jump potion for AST.

Also, is DRK really that bad? SCH, MCH, and DRK were the classes I had at 60 and from what I've been reading it seems like they all suck :(.

When trying to change the color of your chocobo, can you just feed them all the fruit on one sitting, or do you have to stop when you get the message about the new feathers growing in?

Can I just...ram all 30+ fruits in at once and brace for a messy stable? Or is this something that's gonna take days?
