Can we change the automaticly selected team when we challenge a gym?

For it isn't not even choosing the highest CP or the favourites... I don't get what the selection is based of.

Nope. There seems to be hints in the code that may change though. In the meantime, yeah, the game's always been absolutely garbage at it. 2000 CP Scyther up first against near-3000 CP Rhydon and Golem, with no enemy Pokémon weak to Scyther? SURE WHY NOT

Why would you EVER want your 2700 Vape on literally ANY team? Keep that shit in the box, always.

So what you're saying is, it would explicitly be beneficial to NOT calm down, because freaking out can and does change things. :p

haha, that's not what I'm saying. and you know it. :p

I'm more talking about people going nuts with the "fuck you! you ruined my life" posts. Esp, since some people seem to repeat that every week. lol

There is a big difference between going "This is fucking stupid. What idiots. they are ruining the game!" and a breakdown of why they don't like it. I don't exactly agree with "border" on some of his/her issues of late, but their explanations of why they are annoyed feel more helpful.

I myself def want it back to 100 per day. I already lost out on 20ish coins because of that. I have a few 24 hour gyms now too. I'm afraid they might get taken out before tomorrow.

Wow, got a Free Raid Pass. Did they lower the lvl required already? I'm still lvl 29, or I can get one, but not use it until I'm 31?

Edit. Just a few seconds later

Trainers level 28 and above: You can now participate in Raid Battles at select Gyms around the world.

I think its weakness/supereffective based.

This is the real travesty of this whole update also.

We need to have our own preseleted/recently used teams. So annoying to have to switch out mons everytime. Especially when it takes like 4+ times you fight the same gym.

Like do Niantic not have gameplay designers

Got one earlier too. The description of the item says iirc that you get one free raid pass everyday (unless you have one already)

Honestly, this seems like a silly thing to complain about. I honestly find the new way fun. Taking down 10 pokemon at once was usually non-existant I noticed.

Well, you can usually knock the first pokemon off a gym with 1-2 fights, so most people just kick them off and then work in a 6v9 scenario.

A good Jolteon can take down 2-3 Gyrados. A good Jynx/Cloyster can kill 2 Dragonites. A good Vaporeon can kill 2-3 Tyranitars. Taking down a large tower was entirely possible with a team of 6, if you were dodging the majority of the time and not getting hit by their charged attacks.

You had to pick and choose your towers (ones that weren't stacked with Blisseys and Snorlaxes), but it was within the realm of possibility to do solo takedowns without massive casualties. Eventually people just let towers go stagnant because it was smarter to find your own teams' towers and join those than it was to conquer opposing towers and pray that 9 other players in the area were going to help you rebuild it.

The old system was not without its share of massive problems that needed to be fixed, to be sure.....but at least it was a reliable income generator. A Pokemon that got stuck on a tower could earn you 300coins/month......now one that gets stuck on a tower will earn you 50 coins maximum.

Wasn't that in the last datamine dump? I thought there was something in the code for Battle Team or something, so hopefully that's coming soon.

While I greatly appreciate the increased coin rate and am glad they're listening, this still doesn't help with the fact that my Pokemon in my rural gyms are stuck there for weeks until someone knocks them out. I don't understand why they got rid of the system of just pressing a button to collect and then having a 21 hour cooldown. Or just have the Pokemon bail when it's achieved maximum coinage.
You don't understand why they want people to travel every day in an augmented reality game? The old system was terrible and I collected 100 coins every day. In a year it's been saturated with cutthroat players taking up all the gyms leaving low level players in the dust. It was literally survival of the fittest.

Well that's annoying. The tracker tab showed me that the raid was starting in around 13 minutes but when I got to the gym it wasn't going to kick off for another 38 minutes.

In case this wasn't answered yet. That 1st "timer" is actually just a clock of when it unlocks. It's military time.

I will say I'm a bit miffed my Vaporeons and Gyarados are useless gym fodder now, but not as much as enjoying the fact that my local spoofers' max Snorlaxes and Blisseys are worthless lol

90% of my problems with the current economy would be fixed if they let you travel to a gym to collect your Coin earnings. That's how I presumed it was going to work when they unveiled this system in Ingress.

Having to wait for someone else to knock my pokemon out of a gym is ridiculous. I don't even know if I want to feed my teammates' pokemon because maybe they want to get it back. If you feed a pokemon that's been there for more than 7-8 hours you're basically just wasting coins that its trainer will never get.

Is anyone else getting an error message when they try to feed berries to pokemon in gyms? It seems like after feeding 5-6 of them I can't do any more feeding.....there's just a red "Error" bar that drops down from the top of the screen each time I attempt it. It goes away after 10-15 minutes and I can resume feeding.

Apparently there is a limit to how many you can feed at once. Though, guess should really have better error message. I haven't seen that yet myself. But 5-6 would be rather low IMO. Too low. Though, after the 2nd berry, I noticed their motivation doesn't really go up by much, so I usually stop after 4.

I get that, but not everyone are like us. I interact with people on a daily basis and one of them didn't even know you could collect coins. He put them in gyms but the game never explained to him that you need to press a small button in the shop menu every 21 hours. Some people used their strongest Pokemon to prestige gyms and didn't know the most effective way was to use less than strong Pokemon. A number of them got disillusioned and quit after their low cp pokemon got kicked out by someone of the same team. If Niantic wants the game to grow for younger generations, then giving these small payouts as opposed to being completely unavailable to the non-hardcore was absolutely the right call. The old gym system was broken.

The fact that the "Collect Coins" button was effectively hidden is a UI problem more than it was a problem with the Gym system itself. Niantic could have "pushed" payments to players every 24 hours like they're doing now, or simply made it more obvious in the menus.

There is no defense for Gym building/prestiging system though. I am more than happy to see it go. I wish there was a more interesting or active way for players to help support their teams' gyms though.....just feeding berries to pokemon is not very interesting.

50 coins per day is bullshit, especially considering I've had 5 Pokemon sat in Gym since last night and they literally just got knocked out and only gave me 33 coins. Should have been 75. Grrr

I'm fine with the 50 cap as long as it's a coin per 10 min.

overall I will still likely get far more from gyms if there is a higher turn over.

I mean I think I have only gotten 30 coins from gyms total this year because everything around me was locked at level 10 blue with level 35+ trainers.

One thing that shouldn't be overlooked no matter what your opinion is about the new gym update—at the very least, Niantec seems to be responding somewhat quickly to tweaking its features.

I honestly thought yesterday that I wouldn't be able to participate in Raids till mid/late July.

Let's hope they create a payout fix/feature soon to justify their 50 coin cap.

You can get a free raid pass every day but you can only have one in your inventory. Premium raid passes are unlimited I presume and are purchasable for 100 coins.
you can have as many premium raid passes as you want.
100 coins a pop is steep to me though.
likely will just do one raid per day.

Does anyone know what rewards are associated with the varying levels of Gym Badges? Is there any reason to level up with a gym, or is it just a treadmill?

is stuff really buggy right now or is that just me?

I was having issues like the game auto swapping my Pokemon in a gym battle, and everyone healing thus causing me to time out, etc.

was weird.

Niantic instantly turned the gym rewards from complete garbage to totally reasonable from the negative feedback, so I applaud them. As a city player, this is a huge boon for me.

I got 13 Coins just from one Pokemon. For the last several months, I've been averaging about 10 Coins total. A good day would be 30 Coins.

Now, I will be getting many more Coins with this system.

Watched a few YouTube videos and I'm definitely going to have to go out of my way to get these raids done purely for Rare Candies alone. It's the only way I'm ever getting an Ampharos or a Tyranitar. Rare Candies in general are amazing. They completely remove the reliance on eggs to get candy for rare Pokemon, which means eggs getting super crowded once Gen IV and beyond come out will be less of an issue.

Just did my first raid. It was at a Starbucks gym, so I think yes it is only sponsored gyms.

Level 1 raid, 5000CP Quilava. Myself and one other person took it out in 10 seconds. My Rhydon only lost about 20% HP. He was a bitch to catch though, I razzed everytime and he popped 8 times before staying in.

Got 3 golden razz berries and that was it. Looking forward to more challenging raids. But if you see a level 1 raid out there and you're by yourself go for it, this was cake.

by gen 4 I think they will have to specify gen eggs and allow you to throw away like 10 per day.

otherwise either the gen 4 eggs will be a super pain to get done or any eggs before that will be a pain depening on how they set rarity of the eggs.

RAIDS ARE 25 or ABOVE NOW.

though I don't imagine I have any around me since none of my gyms are sponsored gyms.

Did a 2nd Raid boss battle at same location. This time against lv 3 Gengar. 17 of us took it down. Was fun. Caught it. Still no TMs sadly.

I need to find out where some other sponsored gyms are. All I know is this one.
