As an offline only player, one of the biggest things for me is consistency. When I'm facing the same team with the same line-up, the results should be in the same ballpark. When the results are substantially different, it makes me start to wonder about the backdoor shady code in the game that can manipulate outcomes.

I lost 2-1 to the Twins in a vs. CPU game on Veteran this morning (first full 9 inning vs. CPU game I've ever lost) and I immediately loaded it back up and proceeded to get 30 hits and beat them 21-2. The only thing that was different was I was playing at Safeco in my first game and Wrigley in my 2nd.

I could list a hundred minor things that bug me about this game lol but this is one of the big ones... when it feels like the game has been taken out of your control.

I had like the diamond lizard skin bat grip thingy drop as an extra reward for the third time this year.

Can I just get another Mike Trout please

Yes, I posted about this on reddit:

"I have noticed it in so many years of the Show but I know there has to be some "rubber banding" AI going on with the game that changes from game to game and sets before you start the game.

Last night I played a franchise game. I couldn't hit for crap. No matter what EVERYTHING, except maybe one solid line drive was popped up for easy catches. I scored 2 runs due to errors and sac flies. Thing was I dominated with my starting pitcher(sort of a scrub in Miguel Gonzalez) I was striking out guys all game and they couldn't hit either. In fact I hat a no hitter into the top of the 9th but lost it. Brought in closer and well gave up a 2 run homer. Went to extras and "lost" on a Judge homer. Pissed because that was the second game in 3 games Robertson got destroyed trying for a save I shut it off(I know immature way to play but whatever). I then restarted the game and won 13 to 3 or something and I was hitting line drives and home runs but also wasn't dominating pitching like last game.

Now this isn't the only time I noticed this as it happens a lot. Many times I play normally and can destroy the ball and then next game struggle to make solid contact. I just know rubber banding exists. Maybe rubber banding isn't the exact term I'm looking for since this isn't NBA Jam but I feel it's along the same lines in pre-determining how well hitting and pitching will be in a game."

92 Pollock is an awesome card man. Don't feel bad for that one.

Meet my little Jedi guys.

any suggestions you'd be willing to share?

Kind of late to invest in them now but I've been targeting Cozart, Nova, Severino, A. Garcia, Lamb, Berrios

Find the ones that you think have a good shot at getting bumped and be ready to buy during the selloff that happens every friday after guys don't get bumped. Prices will then start rising over the week peaking on Thursday night.

oh thanks, i didn't even think about the selloff afterwards. i'm still pretty new to the game so i need to learn about this stuff. at the beginning of this most recent event i fucked up pretty badly by purchasing a bunch of the legend/fb relievers at like the worst time possible. i probably lost like 25k on that, it's embarrassing.

Take the time to look at league leaders in different categories and look for ones that are undervalued compared to their performance. Then take a flyer on ones that might pan out. Another one that I'm in on right now is Ben Gamel. Dude has been just killing it this month. Likely POTM candidate

For some reason Bellinger is going for 1500+, which is pretty damn high already. It took judge forever to get to silver, and it'll be a few weeks before bellinger becomes just another low gold, power hitting first baseman

I wonder what cards get released tomorrow. I picked up a PS Cole Hamels today for 58k, going to try it out, if I don't, I'll profit!

how heavily do you invest in each player? about a week ago i bought a bunch of individual guys just for fun, not really taking the time to research how hard it is for a guy to get upgraded. i bought alex wood, nova, stroman, jimmy nelson, vargas, leake, sanchez, bellinger, starlin, merrifield, and lamb.

i also got correa for about 12.5 a few days ago, and his buy now is as almost 22 right now. should i just sell him now, or is there a realistic chance he goes diamond tomorrow?

Doubt Correa goes diamond before the AS break. If you aren't using him then you could take the profit. Really depends on what you're needs are.

I'll usually get about 50-150 cards of a spread of guys. I'll never have the giant hit like some guys who have 1000 of a guy but this allows me to spread out my risk.

I think you've bought a good spread, although Sto's last start didn't help him and I'm not up to date on Vargas and Leake.

Right now I'm going back and forth on selling the Posey I picked today in my packs. Think I'll hold on to him because there is a chance he could go 94 which would drive up his value.

I'm at 810. Miggy is getting close.
Was it a big climb back? I need to get started lol

But I drafted this hot BR team last night and will take that for a spin first...

Also people on reddit are bitching about the patch (shocker) mostly that pitch speeds seem slower? Hmm

You can usually tell from the first inning whether the game is going to be the usual fare or one of these 'rubber band' games. I'll be facing the Padres for the 3rd time that night and using the same pitcher (e.g. Hughes or Drabek for the Team Epic grind) and they'll string together 3 or 4 hits in the top of the 1st inning after barely getting 3 or 4 hits in the last 2 games combined. I'll immediately quit out of these games and restart and that will fix it.

Another thing that drives me nuts being an offline only player is the Fielding stat seems to be completely worthless for CPU teams. 99% of the time their infield is making diving grabs and quick-spinning perfect throws to first (Miguel Sano who has like 65 fielding made 5 diving grabs against me in 1 game the other night). When they don't make a play it becomes way too obvious in the other direction. It will seem like the game is rubber banding back in my favour and balls are hitting their outfielder's heads or making other absurd errors.

The rubberband is totally real.

"Got a 2-1 lead headed into the bottom of the 3rd of conquest? No problem. Here's a two out single, an error, and a 450 foot homer from Dee Gordon"

Not to bad. We started at 650 and I lost the first 4 games and I'm at 810 with a 15-9 record. So I played 15-4 the rest of the way.

Sometimes I make dumb managerial decisions and lose the first game because I get cocky and don't feel the need to change my pitcher out. Was about to just quit out of the second one but my matchup did first, so I decided to just play it out. Got an AS Vogt (3k) for 6 win and my 9 win reward is McCullers

My 6 win reward is worth more than my 9 win reward lol

12 better be Trout for sticking this out!

welp run over

I entered another one, and passed up on drafting Andre Dawson to get Eric Gagne
This is the 12-0 run where I get him!

Eric Gagne is stupid good. That curveball is insane. It hangs for a while and then has a really steep drop at the end. It's similar to Kershaw's 12-0.

I just got IV Nolan for 79k!

LMAO there's an exchange mission where you can exchange 75 gold players for a guaranteed diamond
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Sanchez, Judge, Perez, Carlos Martinez, Alex Wood all went good

I have quite a few of each :D

You can quick-sell golds for 1K stubs right? and that assumes you couldn't sell them in the market for more. Seems like a pretty big risk to exchange 75-100K worth of gold cards and end up getting Dallas Keuchel (worth like 10K).

Exactly, lol. These crooks...

Kris Bryant a 92 now. keep dropping!!!

Aaron Judge was going for 4k+ a few days ago, now he's going for 3 and it's probably going to keep dropping. I just hope he becomes diamond eventually, that's what I'm banking on.
...or not he went back up. Hmmmm

Just pulled the new 99 Craig K. Gonna try him out before I sell.
How many of those packs did you buy?

Thought about it but there is no limit.....
Trying to use my stubs to get Gagne instead lol

They said the next two missions are a AS 98 and a 99 legend. Hmmmmmmmm

I bought 1 and pulled Marte. Which bought me four more which got me the card. It just great luck.

Played with him and having pin point control of all his pitches definitely makes him dominant. I'm keeping him.

I cannot pitch to save my damn life in road to the show. Classic? Forget about accuracy. Analog? Don't even get it. Meter? The second someone gets on base the speed chsnge becomes impossible.

Whoa. Kenley Jansen is a 97 now. His buy now is also 128 now, holy fuck

Glad I got his ass a looooong time ago

Fuck it, I'm going to buy one. I give you one chance SDS.
4 bronzes. Yep I'm done

I ended up getting 4 more and still got nothing

This has got to stop

Call him Eric GaGGne because that's what happens when he comes in. It's a GG, this dude's curveball is a cheat code

Talked myself into buying more packs until I got a diamond. thank got it only took 3 more (8 total), got myself a Beltran. His ass of course will be sold ASAP and I will have my Gagne.

This is what my team is right now

SP: Kershaw, Blue, Sale, IV Ryan, Who Cares
RP: Gagne, Jansen, Chapman, Betances, K-Rod, IV Wagner, Who Cares

C: CAP
1B: LS Cabrera
2B: AS Cano
SS: HW Ripken
3B: LS C. Seager
LF: LS Trout
CF: HW Griffey Jr.
RF: AS Gwynn

Bench: IV Posada, PS Brock, IV Hanley, IV Kinsler, HW Cepeda

5th starter will probably just be rotating cast of people depending on what mission I need done. So I need to get rookie Spahn or Thor!

Finally finished my Diamond Starter Mission by getting 100 strikeouts with Veteran Legend Jack Morris. I got a 93 rated Tom Seaver out of it.

At 868. It always helps when I live journal this shit so I'm gonna keep the updates coming.

Just 2-3 more wins and you're home free!

It took until this morning for my purchase of Gagne to be complete. Paid 125 for it. So basically, winning Thor in BR got me IV Nolan Ryan. And completing all those missions and saving up got me Gagne. My bullpen is stupid now, it's going to be hard as hell to score from innings 6-9 when I roll out Betances, Chapman, Jansen, and Gagne.

I'm going to keep Cano and Gwynn until I see something more appealing and hopefully their prices skyrocket during the AS missions. I may end up keeping Gwynn, definitely not keeping Cano's platooning ass. That Bryant is dropping so hard though, I may end up finishing the Cubs, and then I'll be 57 ranked wins and any program to get that 99 Feller :D

I have been enjoying Gwynn. He just gets on the bags and has a swing that you can swing at the absolute last moment and get a hit. Great speed and D makes him a good weapon at the top of the lineup.

Yeah, he's worthy of being an end game player for sure. He's kind of like Ichiro with more power but not as elite on defense/speed, but still better than 99% of outfielders.

I don't see the next Cabrera being very popular. It's very identical to IV Hanley. I'm getting it and keeping it though, because it's the card I always wanted in this game.

Currently in a BR game where I'm the home team and it's the top of the 8th. Neither team has scored.

This is driving me crazy.
Tripled to start the bottom 8 with Revere. Cabrera hit like a 120 MPH line drive straight to an infielder playing in. Next play, I decide fuck it, I'm squeezing with Pence. It almost failed but thankfully his catcher dropped it LOL

About to jump into my first ranked game this season. Hopefully my opponent sucks, hopefully the game picks Ron Guidry and hopefully I get 7 strikeouts so this dumb shit is over with!!!
yes!! ron guidry lfg!!!

He quit out after 2 innings lol. I'm already at 681? Damn I'm just gonna get this shit this weekend

Did some of you cats say that you finished conquest multiple times? I'm trying to get through it once and it's just a grind.

I'm jealous. I ended up with an AJ Pollock that had been better than I thought it would be but a 90+ Seaver would be a dream. I got to see the guy pitch once when he was on the White Sox in the mid 80s. Shell of what he once was but instantly became one of my all time favorite players.
