A part of me is sad that this reality will never see Raimi's Spider-Man 4 come to fruition

That movie sounded like it was going to be something

They better be at budgets of $230 million and $200-293 million a piece.

PS2 money putting in work

This again describes something more like Transformers 5 or Suicide Squad, I just don't get how they could be considered "trash of the highest degree." And I'm not even trying to defend them. Even if I didn't like them I would still think some of these comments are outrageous. :p

Today, I will remind them

https://youtu.be/MLCfIGPY6i8

And then there's the whole thing of Uncle Ben dying because Peter was buying chocolate milk

And then his British voice slips in when he's crying for help

And then there's a montage when he's looking at dude's wrists

Like, why man

But I'd still probably place both ahead of Seppuku Squad, because the action at least looks real nice

I didn't know that they started shooting Bronson's biography already.
THROW THE DAMN TOWEL!

Fuck I remember waiting so long to deliver on that, too.

Connors was dangled in front of us for so long.

The pay off would have been pretty good since Peter already had a relationship with him. The Lizard didn't even have to be more than a force-of-nature monster since the audience already had built up a connection with the character as a regular human. It would have made it even more hard to believe Connors was the Lizard since he doesn't seem at all like a villain. It could have been a perfect opportunity for a mystery where Peter tries to find out who is the Lizard. General audiences would have been shocked while comic fans would have been waiting for the reveal, just like with Bucky being the Winter Soldier.

From what I recall, the script never really came together and Sony didn't have a whole lot of confidence in the project (they announced Amazing Spider-Man the day after SM4 was canned).

The saddest thing about that is Raimi's top choice for Vulture was John Malkovich.

Sony had locked down a release date that Raimi didn't feel comfortable trying to hit, so they both called it off

There were some hilarious plot details floating around a while back, but I can't find them.

All I remember is Malkovich as Vulture, Anne Hathaway as Vultress (yes, really), and Peter would have a son.

Raimi said that Vultress stuff was bullshit, Hathaway was gonna play Black Cat.

ech, I don't want to see the lizard in MCU. it would just look unpleasing unless they went for the crocodile head look

Not sure doubting the MCU nailing the look makes a lick of sense.

Explains why Black Cat was in the Spider-Man 2 video game so much

No it doesn't.

She was in the game because Spider-Man movie games always add a ton of characters with nothing to do with the movies.

Not like this they aren't, Black Cat was weirdly in the game a lot and tied into the story and themes of Spider-Man 2. It wasnt like Shocker in the first game who showed up a couple of times just to be someone to fight. I would think Treyarch was influenced by some of this early stuff since they had to have worked with some of the film production to get the game released on time to coincide with the movie.

Mark Millar sure is something
After writing Trouble, that something sure a lot of nothing.

Wasn't that piece of shit going to be the basis for an Aunt May stand-alone movie back when they were going to do the Spidey-verse connecting to the Amazing Spider-Man movies?

Hot take: comic book movies probably should've fallen out of vogue in favor of something else by now, but studios are so risk-averse these days that the hot new thing hasn't arrived on schedule.

I like how this post basically admits the "superhero movies will burst!" hot take is finally dead and buried.

HA
HA

IS THAT HOW HE SERIOUSLY LOOKED IN ASM 2

Before the accident, yep.

The scene with his electrocution and electric eel bites has a shot of his teeth getting forcibly re-aligned. Because that's what electrocution and electric eel bites do.

Also, one of those eels jumps into his body via mouth entry, apparently.

As for the hair, guess all that got burned off.

Thankfully he got some sick dubstep powers.

Yeah. Exactly like that. Honestly, I doubt it had much to do with whatever was going on with the movie. They tend to just throw some of his best rogues in the movie tie-ins.

Never really get this line of thinking. They're just action movies based on comic material. Should action movies have fallen out of taste by now? Should romantic comedies? We get like 5 a year on average these days, vs however many total movies release in the same timeframe.

And "should" implies the movies aren't still, you know, printing money at historical box office rates. You'd have to be an idiot to seriously walk into a movie studio and suggest they stop making them right now lmao.

Shocker and Vulture's appearance's in the first game are largely irrelevant to the main story, as are Mysterio and Rhino in the sequel. Black Cat was tied to Peter's growing divide between his normal life and hero life and how he was losing grips with both.

Like take for example their final scene: https://youtu.be/YWGUuGaV1uM

Anyway, this isn't really the place to talk about this. So agree to disagree.

I always go in with very low expectation when it comes to comic book movies and that way never get disappointed lol

I did that with Amazing Spider-Man 2 and still walked away disappointed.

I did that with Batman v Superman too. In fact, I went in expecting a festering pile of shit. I still walked out disappointed and angry at just how horrible it was.

My expectations for both of those were buried a few inches below the surface. I didn't bury the expectations deep enough. Burying my expectations just outside of hell could not have prepared me for BvS.

Carnage and Wilson Fisk were important plot characters in the ASM2 game. Wilson Fisk didn't even exist in the same movie universe as Spidey at that time lmao. It do not matter.
