Wkd BO 06•23-25•17 - Transformers snore than meets the eye, Woman keeps up with Cars

There was a clip/trailer of Divergent attached to Fast 7. It had the main actress jumping through a window, and it turned out to be VR, or something.

Kate Winslet is in those movies. Get that paycheck, I suppose.

Correction: We need more of Divergent!

We were talking about John Green, not Veronica Roth. At least Green has written a few things people care about. Roth tried to get another hit with Carve the Mark, but that seemed to land on the floor like a turd that rolled down someone's pant leg when they lost control.

I never seen Enemy Territory, I must correct that. You old Bobby, do you remember Cynthia Rothrock? I try to mention her to people and they look at me crazy

Cynthia Rothrock love? Sign me up. So many awesome(ly bad) films to go through.

My man. Man kids just don't know how much they miss out on Saturday morning cartoons ending and cheesey movies taking over tv.

The way we approached TV as kids has completed changed today. My 3 year old knows how to use Netflix and other streaming services. As a kid, I sat my ass down and if ProStars was on I was watching ProStars*.

*For you 20-somethings and younger, ProStars was a cartoon where Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson and Wayne Gretzky teamed up to fight crime. It was as amazing as it sounds.

Suicide Squad has (maybe) been conquered.

Last night #WonderWoman surpassed #SuicideSquad at dom #boxoffice reaching $325.1M after $3.9M TUE. Will beat #BvS tomm & become #1 in #DCEU

Suicide Squad has (maybe) been conquered.

A great tragedy has been avenged.

Edit:
Just checked BOM out of curiosity, Wonder Woman has made $83,755,613 in China during its first three weeks, while BvS did $95,769,365 in its entire run. Not too bad even though it's till far behind the Marvel films.

$3.9M even puts it $30k behind, and Gitesh was $23k too high yesterday. We will have to wait until the actuals come out this afternoon to know if Wonder Woman passed Suicide Squad on Tuesday.

Still, with Today's matinees, it is ahead.

Yeah, that's why I edited the post to put in the '(maybe)', Completely disregarding today's numbers thus far, I think Gitesh is, as usual, being a bit optimistic. If it has passed it, it'll be by a very small amount, if not.. it's within a very small margin of doing so.

Doesn't really matter in the long run. Both it and BvS go down this week.

As for BvS, Wonder Woman beating it on Thuraday is also too close to call. We have actual Thursday openers this week, so I don't think we will see the same bump as last week.

A 30% drop today, and a 5% drop tomorrow puts Wonder Woman about 60k ahead of BvS' total on Thursday. A bigger Wed drop, or something closer to 10% on Thursday puts it behind.

If ever there was a franchise that didn't suit being expanded into a cineverse it's the Bond franchise. These films thrive on being events unto themselves, a cinematic experience every couple of years that were the film equivalent of appointment viewing.

Who wants to see a Moneypenny spin off? This whole thing smacks of that Simpsons episode where they had the 'spin-off showcase'. Urgh.

EON was considering spin-offs before. Most famously, Halle Berry's Jinx character. But then Die Another Day didn't do what they wanted.

I guess the idea now is to maybe give Moneypenny her own film? Maybe?

I dunno.

I'm still curious as to whether or not they're gonna finally introduce codename theory I to this continuity or eliminate it as a possibility.

They can't even keep continuity straight in a linear series of films.

I want this.

It's already been eliminated by Skyfall. It was never anything but a dumb fan theory (or, if you saw Casino Royale '67, a patch for the re-editing/re-filming that happened when Sellers walked off set.).

Guessing we'll see Bond, Moneypenny, Leiter etc(maybe a M prequel?) movies.

Think they've all gotten comics in the last 2 years.

Dynamite Comics are already doing this with a Felix Leiter comic and an upcoming Moneypenny comic.

I wonder what they expected from Die Another Day. It was easily the highest grossing Bond before the Craig films.

I don't think they'll actually do this, either way: source is Sneider, who has fucked this sorta thing up before, and he's using a fair amount of weasel words in his explanation which tells me he's more worried about the pending debunk than he is just getting it right as he can.

Plus at this point, I'm not sure that studios bidding on the rights won't see a Bond Cinematic Universe as more of a hassle than they wanna pick up.

On one hand, this is dumb as hell. On the other, leading one of these spin-offs is probably the closest we're gonna get to seeing Idris Elba as Bond.
