LEGO |OT6| We Only Build in Black. And Sometimes Very Dark Grey.

I liked it. The rathtars are pretty cool little builds. The rest of the structure is pretty standard as far as building goes. As far as playability for kids goes, you can interchange the modules (there are three of them) and there's a trap door for a minifig to peak out of. Two of the doors can be rigged to drop open or closed.

But the set really shines on display. The minifigs have a standard expression and a panicked expression so you can pose them in action. The two guavian death gang guys are pretty much in the set specifically to put in the rathtars' mouths and the effect is hilarious. Personally I like the color combos as well.

Negatives: the Han and Chewie figs are the exact same ones from the Falcon.

I would recommend the set for big TFA fans.

Thank you for recommending this set! I really love it. The modular aspect is just fantastic. I shouldn't but temptation to get another one is great. Only negative thing is that they come with stud blasters.

Glad you liked it! It would be really easy to buy another and build it out... basically no customization required... almost as if they intended for people to do exactly that...

There seem to be 2 of the CITY big cats available on Bricks & Pieces - the black jaguar and the leopard (unfortunately no tiger).
Then the Venus flytraps (although slightly already over BL prices)
From others the tile with ticket print from Carousel might be interesting. Maybe the Cafe Corner print from Assembly square...

The tote is totes still available on US shop@home. I'm fighting really hard right not to order TLBM AA and the fun at the beach set. REALLY hard fighting it.

Just done the sums for the week.

You people have had me spend £895 now.

I joined this thread 6 weeks ago.

That sounds like a challenge, you can beat your high score! UCS Falcon will help.

edit: I'm so fucking weak, AA, fun at the beach, Speed Champions Mclaren and some bricks and pieces order with big cats (thanks for the head up papluh) ordered.

You're all bad people. I have to take it easy for a while now, but I've got the ones I really wanted apart from the Saturn V.

Which sets are those?

If you can list them without looking you don't have enough.

R2D2, Tie, Slave 1, Red Five, Wall-e and Ecto-1.

Still want Saturn V and Snowspeeder, but I have time for those as they are recent releases.

Fortunately I don't care about minifigs or modulars
yet.

You went in right away with the UCSs. That's admirable. I started small with cheaper Creator sets, thinking they would satisfy me. They did for a while, but the hunger grows.

All excellent sets DBT85. I started here just with OT Star Wars sets. That grew from regular to UCS sets, and now I've got 7 modulars, a few creator vehicles/planes, and a few ideas sets. I've now got to seriously hold back, as I have no more room.

It's very abstracted, but that looks to me like it's trying to ape the theme park castle.

Edit: Although the upper-left tower doesn't belong. The theme park castle is nicely asymmetric.

Yeah it looks like Disney Worlds Cinderella Castle except it is symmetric. If I ever get it, I will add another brick to the right tower (the gold one) to make it higher than the rest of the castle

Honestly, I got Slave and Tie before they retired and both R2 and Red 5 were relatively cheap (£160 new and £153 used) I figured the longer I waited the more it would cost lol. There are some creator and ideas I'd like, but they are all a bit more reasonably priced hehe.

Yeah it could be a problem if I don't control myself. Not fussed about the smaller sets so hoping keeps the clutter under control! Just wish I'd done this a long time ago and got the Falcon and a few others I'll now never own (unless rereleased).

You need to pick up the creator expert cars, the camper, mini and Ferrari are all excellent builds, especially the Ferrari, some really nice techniques used in that one to get the shape right.

I also go only for the OT UCS sets.
Right now i have all the sets i've ever wanted, so i have to wait for the new Falcon.
Just buy some small sets that you can mod by yourself or make your own creation.
This works out for me...........so far at least.

Bah, it looks like the Saturn V won't be back in time for double points. :/

probably.

Just ordered the Capitol Building for a friend of mine (not into Architecture Theme) which was also wanting the Saturn V.

my wife probably ordered the brick bank for my birthday later in the month.... i hope

so thats around 500 points for us...

Saving for Carousel or Ninjago City...got around 20€ so far....but with those 500 points ...still a long way to go lol

Newbie question about Lego points: The system works in tiers, once you reach a certain number of points you can spend them. But what happens if I try to use my amount of points between tiers? Do I loose the points in between?

It gets easier when you see posts like this, so thanks for that! I daren't total up how much I've spent since joining the thread, but it's not a small number. I feel liking breaking a grand is the real entry fee.

Legitimately, it was the Saturn V that started all of this and I don;t even have it yet!

That sucks dude. I hope it comes back in stock for all those that still need to get one. These Idea sets have been a real mixed bag when it comes to availability. Some sell out immediately and stay hard to find, and then some are plentiful and get discounted. I'm wondering which one the Fishing Store is going to be. I may not be able to get it till Sept.3rd because of paycheck.

The Saturn is what got me interested in Lego too. Luckily I was able to grab one. Not from the Lego site though.
Since then I've bought some other sets as well. A mix of small and big sets. And my wishlist is pretty big. I've found a new hobby!

I feel Saturn V is somewhat exceptional. Big appeal, even to non-AFOL's. The source material, the size...

Don't think OFS will be the same. But I don't take chances with Ideas. I day 1 them if I want them.

Every time Saturn v is brought up I feel like the crazy man who doesn't care about it.

It certainly seems priced well tho. That part is appealing.

No, tsk tsk to you for doing the sums. Never do the sums.

Ahh I always do my sums. For everything. Spending Tracker on my phone lol.

Originally to help me cut down on buying so much food at work but just generally useful to see what I'm spending every month that's essentials and what stuff is just whimsy.

Well. Just for him to build on. So it's not on the floor essentially.

Throw it in a corner so he can have his space.

I'm new to this so any advice would be appreciated.

My Lego "shelf" will be full when I add the Parisian Restaurant. It will be overflowing when I finish the speeder bike.

Going to need to store some stuff. Definitely getting the fishing store. Saturn V would be an impulse decision if it ever comes back - not sure that it would ever be at the top of my list.

Very much looking forward to the TLJ walker and starship. Wasn't into Lego when those came out initially and will be excited to have them.

Also keeping one eye on Assault on Hoth. I feel discounts coming. No one wants that thing.

So I completed series 17... I am curious as you display your minifigs, guys. Do you place completed series in order on displays/frames/shelves or do you spread them on your cities/MOCs/sets? I am not sure which way will work better...

So Channel 4 - here in the UK - have just released details of their summer programming lineup, and one programme in particular (In the factual entertainment section) looks intriguing:

Masters of Lego (w/t): August

In a first on British TV, Six pairs of LEGO fans of all ages will go head-to-head in the ultimate battle of the brick. Their design and construction skills will be put to the test in a host of colourful and creative challenges. Each week, the teams whose builds wow the expert judges the most will head through to the next round until the grand finale, where one pair will be crowned Britain's most talented amateur LEGO builders.

How good it is will be dependent on how talented the contestants are and how well-pitched the challenges are, but I'm cautiously interested.

Any £40-£50 (take away £10 in VIP points) sets that "feel" like substantial builds? I'm thinking the Iconic Chess Set since it's insanely good value for the price but I'm not sure.
