Misfit City is a really fun book. That is all.

Lazarus later arcs talk. Tagging so as to not spoil prospective new Lazarus readers.

Fun tidbit that changes the way I see early arcs. My girlfriend reads the back matter, and I do not. Apparently Rucka wrote that
all the flashbacks to young Forever are the new clone. None of those are Forever. And they aren't flashbacks. They are the newest clone in real time.
Can you believe that? Blew my mind. Now I need to go back and look those issues over.

That was definitely one of the best twists I've encountered in comics.

This cover from Jorge Jimenez made me smile:

He's also on the cover.

Bottom right in blue.

I'm done with Revolutionaries. I don't know who this book is for, but it isn't me and five issues is too many to read. I didn't care when I started and I certainly don't care now.

I mean, if you were going to say something about those designs, they're an all new cast of characters that are supposed to be aping the New Gods.

Matt did say this in that interview.
It's a narrow path we're walking. As a creator, I'm really tired of modern Kirby pastiches and homages. I appreciate them – and enjoy them to a degree – but I don't really think the world needs another one of those. Getting back to your first question, I think now is the time for this, not just because it worked with Valiant's publishing schedule, but I think that I've lived long enough (I'm 43 years old) and have read enough comics that I can finally bring something to that kind of Kirby cosmic subgenre – with a maturity and perspective to it that the 20-year-old me wouldn't have been able to.[

As much as it's a Kirby influence, I also found a lot of inspiration from the old Gold Key characters too ... a lot of those sort of dinosaur-age books and those really off-beat characters that haven't been seen for 60 years or so. Trying to figure out a way to bring some of that fun and those ideas back into a modern context was a fun challenge as a writer.
I tend to have problems with people who say stuff like this.

Fantasy or SF, huh?
Saga, Monstress, and Birthright might be right up your alley. Check those out. Would you prefer something that is finished?

Perhaps my favorite Scifi comic is Prophet (Brandon Graham, not Liefeld).

I'd prefer just not to have to buy the individual issues as that cost adds up. Thanks for the suggestions!

I typically read sci-fi or fantasy if I'm reading a book. I'm open to anything, but I trend towards things that are fantastical.
You should check out Hellboy for sure. It brings in a lot of fantasy and folklore stories. Just start at the beginning and if you want more, you can dive into the other books in the universe like BPRD, Abe Sapien, etc. along the way.

Yeah. Romita's got the strongest pages. Sure. Whatever you say.

The hate Jim Lee gets nowadays is totally unwarranted and of the three artists on The Casting he's the one to actually knock it out of the park. Those Joker pages are fucking savage.

ZoomCrop continues to be the worst trend in comics discussion. Such a faulty way to evaluate comic art.

How much would Messi pay for 12% of a page of original art, just cut out of somewhere in the lower left quarter?

(Is Messi the one who buys art? I forget.)

Anyway, I know it will never stop but I'd love to see someone defend the practice.

Newsarama has started posting advance solicits for some Metal issues. Sounds like the Gotham Resistance and JL books are 2 self contained stories that you don't need to read to understand Metal. Guessing there'll be 4 trades: Metal, JL, Gotham Resistance and Dark Knights.

Silver Surfer delayed once more. Hopefully Messi haven't put it in any future OP's.

I paid 700 for 3 pages and two sketches I never got... Don't test me.

Have decided to add Cable & Deadpool and X-Factor Investigations to my current MU rotation. I've read both already so I'll be rereading them but I enjoyed both so I'm looking forward to them joining the party.

Also how was House of M? I'm getting close to it.

Man, I've loved Tom King but I'm really getting tired of his use of repeated dialogue. Pretty much all the Miracle pages shown so far have been horrible with it. "Stand, Stand, Stand, Stand" "For new genesis, for new genesis, for new genesis."

It's been used well in the past but it's starting to become laughably noticeable and way too overused.
