What a good way to find a PVM locally? I tried to get one on ebay last year, but cancelled after finding out it was a poor quality one.

Also I got my Gameboy Player working now with Gameboy Interface. It's S-Video, but it looks great on my CRT. Thankfully the NTSC Gamecube I bought locally at Disc Replay has the digital port still.

Depends where you live. Craigslist was how I found all of my monitors.

It's tated the wrong way though. Unless you're the Spiderman, then it doesn't really matter. :D
Seriously, too bad most shmups from that generation didn't provide a full set of display settings (rotate clockwise, counter-clockwise, etc...).

It was just to correct the color issue,it works fine in any orientation now.

Please explain why turning it fixed the issue.

Something about the earths magnetic field. I read somewhere on the shmups forum a while back about someone fixing theirs this way.

So I've been checking out MLIG and know that Euro SCART is different from JP21. My question is will SCART cables work with NTSC consoles with RGB?

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Are you fucking kidding me? Turning it upside down just fixed it completely?

The world is an interesting place sometimes.

Haha I remember reading that when I got into the PVM game because mine had some issues (although it was more rotating the direction the screen was facing than turning it on its side)....then I realized I had it on top of a subwoofer. I felt like an idiot, moved it and it was fine lol.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but both JP21 and Euro SCART cables should work on any console that outputs RGB. The more important part of the equation is what you're plugging the cable into.

For example, the Framemeister comes with a JP21 adapter, however Euro SCART switches are much more prevalent.

Personally, I'm using Euro SCART cables on all my North American systems, and they work fine (Plugged into my Framemeister with a specific Euro SCART adapter)

Correct. That's why its best to just pick one and have all your consoles be that so you don't plug a JP21 into a Euro by accident. Most people pick Euro because its more common.

So what is the GC Video? I see mentions of it coming soon, but still confused on what it does. Is it a internal mod or something that uses the AV or Digital ports on the Gamecube? I managed to get a Gamecube with both ports so I can at least use both options.

Fixed it by turning the discolored part towards the ground, looks great now! I guess I know which I'll keep tated.

Great game. I'm almost close to 1cc'ing it on Saturn mode but always die repeatedly on the final boss, lol.

so i have my GC w/component cables going into a D terminal adapter feeding my XRGB, right? but whenever the screen's white, you can see flicker to it. i'm gonna test this on my CRT soon (without the framemeister, natch) but anyone else ever have this issue?

I would bang a hot farmer!

The GCVideo is an internal HDMI mod from BadAss Consoles that's been "coming soon" for a very long time. The GCVideoX (he was going to use the name Plug n Play but got beat) is an external HDMI dongle that plugs into the Digital port from BadAss Consoles that has no time frame on when it'll be available. The GC VIDEO Plug n Play is another external HDMI dongle from Zeldaxpro that may be available already but I haven't really paid much attention to it.

I can't see myself ever using a product from a company that calls themselves "Badass Consoles." I just get a mental image of some off-season juggalo clad in JNCO jeans going ham on my Gamecube with a soldering iron.

I would not give any money to BadassConsoles until he actually produces something. Dude is a worse communicator than Valve.

getting a HDMI N64 from Badass Consoles on time is probably better than winning the jackpot (and i got one)

at least there's alternatives to playing GC stuff with improved and comparable quality (GCVideo would do the same a Component cable + OSSC combo would do for a fraction of the price)

i still want one but it's one of those things that i'll get once it is out and won't sweat the delays. sucks for people who preordered and paid already.

i checked that plug n play GCVideo and seems like it's out already. anyone here has tried to get one?

Hey now, share the knowledge with us :)

My snes jr had an RGB mod done and it's wonderful apart from colours been wayyyy too blown out and saturated. Especially reds but blues also look way too full on. Compared to my 1chip Super Nintendo. Was wondering if anyone had experienced this.

That's a new one to me, hope someone finds the answer.

I'm going to say they didnt put resistors on the output.

I'd only buy from badassconsoles if he changed the "s" to "z"s

(sorry, didn't get the PM)

No I don't have this problem. Mine is modded to output RGB and S-Video, so I can compare between the two. Colors look a bit more accurate to me in RGB, but really there's not a huge difference in color, and I've never suspected that there was anything wrong with either output. If it's to the point that you're noticing a problem, there's definitely something wrong. Can you post pictures? Let me know if you want pictures from my system for reference, glad to share.

It's very hard to take pics showing what I see on my tv but I can definitely show pics showing the difference between the 1chip and the snes jr

Neither look like they actuallly look on my tv but you can see one is extremely saturated and unnatural with colours. The 1chip while not as crisp as the snes jr is much more accurate with the colour palette.

First time using imgur hopefully works ok

Yeah that's a problem. I have no experience with this, but is there a way to use some resistors or something to weaken the intensity of the output? Maybe someone who knows about this can comment.

I just got the OSSC in and I'm having a problem. Every couple minutes during fast play the screen will sort of split and roll upwards. You can see it in the middle of the screen below,it comes from the bottom and rolls all the way up. Any ideas or settings I need to do to fix it?

Your screen is tearing. What console do you have PAL or NTSC? And is your cartridge the same region as your console?

Yeah, tearing would be the best way to describe it. Everything is NTSC. I'm pretty sure its a sync issue of some sort, just wondering if there's a setting I can adjust or something.

It's screen tearing due to a vsync issue. Are you using HDMI to hdmi? Are you connecting to your OSSC via scart?

Here's a quick dirty pic of mine for reference:

Obviously impossible to make a scientific comparison with cameras and different TVs, but yeah, there's definitely a problem with yours. Are you able to just adjust the brightness or color balance on the TV to get a decent result?

Yours looks a lot closer to my 1chip for sure. I can get it not too bad but it throws a lot of games out if I mess around with the settings too much. And even when I do it's still way overly saturated.

If the problem's exclusively the SNES, it could be your TV having issues with the console's 60.08 refresh rate

What's your Samsung's model number?

I think I may have fixed it. I set my TV to PC instead of Console w/Game mode. Whatever game mode is doing on my KS8000 the OSSC doesnt like. But I just played through a couple levels and it didn't happen again.

Nevermind, glad it's working :)

Fantastic! Yeah TVs handle different inputs and modes refresh rates differently. You should be fine with all going forward.

How do I open up SCART cables from retrogamingcables, I want to see if the Genesis 2 cable I got from them back in March doesn't have that "cync boost" thing?

Their listing currently has it as "Sega Mega Drive 2 / Genesis 2 & 3 CDX 32X dbGrafx Booster TTP RGB AV SCART Cable" but there was no mention of the dbGrafx Booster back when I ordered it in March

Retrogamingcables never did boosted csync stuff, it was only retro_console_accessories on ebay. So you don't need to check that cable for it. The dbGrafx Booster is something else entirely. It's a device that plugs into the back of the TG16 and I believe core grafx to give you RGB and S-Video out, for RGB it uses a genesis 2 cable. Originally Retrogamingcables Model 2 genesis cables had problems with it. Because Rene designed the dbGrafx Booster to proper video specs, which the official design stuff for the Genesis 2 RGB cables didn't, they were a bit looser about that. Retrogamingcables redesigned their Model 2 cables to follow proper video standards which let them work with the dbGrafx Booster and the Genesis Model 2.

The sync booster was an amp that Retro_console_accessories was putting into her SMS/Genesis/1/2 cables that caused the Sync signal to be WAY TOO HIGH, which could in time shorten the life of a framemeister.

Did you get the right cables for your SNES? PAL SNES' require different cables than NTSC (US and Japan). It doesn't matter what tv you're plugging it into but it needs to match the region of the console, the output and what goes into the cables is slightly different.

something like this happened to me with a GC game on a Wii connected to the OSSC a while ago and i forgot how i fixed it since that doesn't happen now.

speaking of screen tearing, has anyone had a problem with Switch and HDTVs where the image shows up doubled for a bit? it's a weird effect and only shows on TV since the footage i capture doesn't show this. maybe this won't be the proper thread to ask since it's a current gen console but someone might have heard about this one since lots of people have HDTVs here.
