Heh, sure do :). Hello Games even adopted the idea and used the same font I did for the book cover spoofs, along with the "science fiction" logo bit, which kinda caught me by surprise once the updates started to roll out. :)

The journey to release and everything else afterwards was really something else. An interesting ride to say the least.

I hope this gets another update soon. Kinda feeling the itch to get into it again, but with new features and such. ;)

Posted this in the ARG thread but it's better to have this here I guess.

Oh wow I haven't tried the swap/loot crashed ship trick lately, I've seen that stuff has changed, that some inventory slots are broken and flashing red, but I did NOT know that you had to PAY to repair them now!

Just swapped my 38 slot ship to a 47 slot ship with lots of red slots...

Should NOT have done that.

The first blocks cost about 1 million units to repair! After repairing a few I now have to pay 2.5 million to repair the next one! And I have 23 more blocks to repair!!

It must be cheaper to buy the ships new now!
Still don't have a clue how to make money fast, I'm doing some farming but it takes quite some time just to earn 1 million that way and I need maybe 60-70 million :S

As of now I essentially downgraded my ship with almost 20 blocks and are now out of money *sigh*

---

Is there any fast ways to make money?
I've farmed gravitino balls, albumen pearls and sac venom but it takes forever to make any real money that way imo. So how do you do it?

If you have access to it via farm quests, otherwise flip dynamic resonators in a system that this low buy high payout between pilots in a space station.

I made 7 million in 2 hours doing that. I was embarrassed. If I'd had the space I would have made at least double that.

Yeah, I spent a whole weekend. After 2 days I said fuck it and got a mod to have vendors have 5x the quantity. At that point it's just semantics to waste the time to get the free money.

And that's what I hate about the current ways to make money. It's just endless amounts of grind. Like if there was a robust, dynamic economy in the galaxy which you had to use your brain to be a successful trader at, and had to constantly adapt to market fluctuations, that'd be great. But as it is, your money-making choices are either walking around a space station clicking on UI ad infinitum, walking around shooting rocks with a laser for hours and hours, or min-maxing a farm with a hellish level of micromanagement. No thanks to all that.

That's just crazy. I have 23 damaged blocks on this ship. Since I would need 60-70 million units to fix this ship we're talking about 20+ hours of flipping dynamics resonators :S

I don't want to cheat with a mod. They simply need to fix this. It shouldn't be this hard to make money in a game like this. It's like a mobile game if you refuse to buy diamonds or whatever they sell to get rid of a timer.

Myeah for me it just took the fun away. I've been playing this game for over 170 hours and nothing has stpopped me from enjoying the game, until now.

If reducing the time it takes to do the exact same task is cheating, then fine. Makes no sense the GALACTIC space trade terminal only has 2 dynamic resonators. Shit ain't even consistent.

Economy is straight brain dead no effort in this game. Elite 30 years ago had this shit down. Like, wtf Hello Games.

Yeah Hello Games could fix some issues and simultaneously push the gamers to do things they want them to do, like explore, fight, farm, trade on planets. Make all those things more rewarding and interesting.

Increase the rewards from...
1. looting crates on the planets.
2. defending a freighter.
3. looting the outposts.
4. finding crashed ships.
5. hunting down a fugitive enemy ship.
6. selling farmed resources at trading hubs on planets.

Add more variety between different sellers on different solar systems and space stations regarding what they're selling.

Make vy'keen, gek, korvax specialize on certain things. So when you find a vy'keen system you know you're going to find awesome rare and powerful weapons and when you find a korvax system you know you're going to find awesome rare tech upgrades to you suit, for example. Now they're mostly the same except for the visuals.

Make it possible to transport a crashed ship to the freighter or home base to pick apart for parts or sell.

Make it possible to collect weapons you find at outposts to pick upgrades from or sell.

Make it possible to collect suit upgrades from drop ships to sell if you don't need it yourself. Currently, when you have the biggest suit there is no point searching for drop ships anymore.

Add classes to the suits and an upgrade system with a high ceiling.

Make it easier to find V2/V3 Atlas Passes! Or make it possible to hack the doors by a serie of difficult series or puzzles or some action hacking gameplay or something like that. I'm still on V1 after 175 hours of playtime. If there usca logic in how you find the other ones then I haven't found it yet, seems like it's just pure luck, which I obviously don't have.

If you can teleport from another solar system to your homebase then you should be able to teleport from your base to your freighter as well. Going up and down to the freighter and back to the planet to manage the inventory is currently a bit tiresome.

I still love the game at the current state but it could ve even better especially if the evonomic system was better.
Like I said, at the moment I sit with a previously crashed 47 slot ship and need about 60 million units to repair 23 broken slots, which would take me about 20 hours just buying and selling dynamic resonators and farming goods.
It's... not something I'm looking forward to to be honest. So I'm just playing on as usual and repair a slot at a time whenever I get the cash, making the "upgrade" from my previous 38 slot ship completely pointless since this one is essentially a 24 slot ship because of the broken slots and difficult ways to make money.

But, the game is still awesome for the things it do right and I hope they'll keep supporting it for us fans and find a way to ignore the hateful people who obviously have no clue that the game has been improved a lot since the launch.

How about farming mordite and craft lubricant?
Lubricant sell for about 20k and mordite seems to grow fast. Stack as many 500 mordite as you can in your ship, go to the space station and crate and sell. I think I'll try it later today.

That was my first farm it's faster but less units.

I now farm temerium spadonium insulating gel the temerium takes a bit longer to grow but you get more units.

Some pics of my farm it's on the freighter.

Oh my God! I've only just started out with farming, I have lots of ideas but it takes some time to get going. That is a dream farm! And this game is pretty amazing since you can do things like that. Never realized that you could have something like that on the freighter. My farm is on my home planet.
But what if you need some Rigogen or Antrium? Do you just go down to a planet nearby? I always run out of that so I choosed a homebase near both a cave and sea.

I know what I want to be added is likely never to be...but...

I just wish I could keep the ship I have and add more slots to it by buying them. I really love the design and have yet to find another one since I got it. I'd also love to be able to change the color of it.

The same goes with the weapon. I love the design of the one I have now but it's low on slots.

And atlas passes need to be stackable.

I also wish there was a separate place for exosuit upgrades. Like slots in your suit and not in your backpack storage for materials. All upgradeable of course.

I'm too much of a hoarder in this game. It's crazy. I don't want to get rid of anything so I'd love more and more and more space to hold stuff.

Ya my home base is on a water planet so it made obtaining Rigogen easy.

Building the farm is so much more fun than the crafting and selling part.

I pretty much stop farming just waiting for the new update to see exactly what's going to pull me back to that part of the game.

Yeah building the farm is super fun, I only just started but I can easily see myself dropping lots of hours in that stuff.

Damn, that's an impressive farm... I really should invest in one.

I mostly just continue to mine because it kinda fits my roleplay... And I put a lot of effort into finding a home base where I had a big elerium deposit right by my base (as in, literally right at the very edge of the 'no AMU build' circle), and a few [waypointed for easy returns] deposits all around my base.

But the money you guys make from farming is almost exponentially higher lol

This, yes. Instead of having each one take up a slot, they should stack into one slot when you earn/make them. It's annoying to carry all three, to me at least, being the hoarder that I am.

Hoping for this as well i guess this is one thing that would get me back to farming.
It's one of the reasons I stopped playing. To get a new ship, to get a new weapon, I needed so much in the way of resources that had either become scarce to find or I had no space to hold anymore of what I needed. So I have a crappy ship since I can't afford a new one due to all the repair I would need to do to all it's broken bits and then all the shields and what not I would have to rebuild.

I think you get V3 via the Atlus "quest." and V2 is RNG or something.
:(
It was ages ago since I finished the Atlas path quest, didn't get the V3 and haven't got the V2 either from exploring. They need to change that in the update, shouldn't have to take this long to get access to all those locked doors.

You can get both after finishing the Atlas quest.
Every once in a while Nada and Polo will appear in the system you're in and you can "hand in" your accomplishments. Both the V2 and V3 passes are rewards. You can check the requirements here: http://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Polo

Nip-nip is definitely the best crop to farm.

Insulation gel = 44k
Nip-Nip = 17k

You have to grow TWO plants to craft ONE Insulation gel:

Insulation gel = 44k each per two plants
Nip-Nip = 34k in comparison (two plants to one gel)

Nip-Nip grows more than twice the speed of both Spadonium and Temerium:

Insulation gel = 44k
Nip-Nip = 68k

In less time to make 44k crafting gel, you can make 68k with Nip-Nip.

Not to mention that you also have to craft the gel versus just nabbin dat space NAYSH.

Booted this trash up just to flip resonators for 4 hours. Up to 200mil. Still no premium for my hundreds of NAYSH though, so those sit in my hauler.

How do you get interesting amounts of Nip-Nip then? I need to convert a 100+ Mordite plants to do this properly and that's a real hassle :/

I'm just about to start farming some Nip-Nip. Can you stack them well on the ship?
That's what I like about Mordite/Lubricant, feels like they grow pretty fast and you can just bring several slots of Mordite stacks to the buyer and create the Lubricant right before the buyer. 20k per Lubricant and 50 Mordite per Lubricant. Kill some animals on the planet for some quick bucks if you're far away and low on cash.

Finally purchased this game new for $10 on Amazon. I keep reading that there is an upcoming update to the game sometime soon.

Should I wait and play after the update? I am not in any real hurry anyway.

Nobody knows for sure if and when an update is coming. It has been suggested that something will come in August but what that something is, is completely unknown right now. No update so far have deleted saves or whatever so it's perfectly fine to start playing right away from that perspective at least.

Just start mucking about in Normal or Creative and get a feel for the game, so when the update drops you're ready for a Survival or Permadeath run.

Some pilots sell geknip. Also just find a nice rigogen planet.

They stack to 5 just like lubricant and gel in the ship.
What's the flip?
Just about any space station has some pilots selling near galactic avg and some pilots sell/buy at 300% markup. You just memorize which ship build sells at what price and camp until you see the right ship fly in. It's boring as fuck but payout is hard to ignore.

Yes, I think I should at least start before the supposed update. Any tips? I really have no idea what this game is about as I have tried to not spoil anything. I was super hyped before reveal, even bought some artwork, but when the reviews dropped I figured I can pick this up later.

Or is it better in this game to know nothing in the beginning?

As far as I remember, you have to fly to the space station in the same system, go to the teleporter room there, and teleport back to your home base. That's basically how you add any link to another system: fly there, teleport back to your home, and that system will now show up in your teleporter list.

Yeah but it's locked out until you warp a few times. I built a base in my 1st system in perma death mode and found that out the annoying way.

This is a tough question. Reign in your expectations maybe? What's there is generally very nice in quality, but the problem is the lack of stuff to do I guess. Which is better with patches of course. Just go and see what you think is my suggestion :) I have the platinum, most of which I got before any content patches and I liked it well enough for what it was at the time.

I have Level 10 on ships destroyed and level 9 on extreme survival and I still only get "junk" from Polo :/

Nope, the requirements are still as listed. Did you do them in order?
No probably not, I've just been playing. I googled on this and there were many sites that said you'd get V2 by visiting operation centers on the planets. But I've been doing that on and off from the start. Annoying.
I'll try take extreme survival to level 10 and see if that does it.

I think they changed that and now you can get them only from Nada and Polo, but you have to do the list in order.
But don't expect too much of the V2 and V3 passes, they're basically useless (now, maybe that will change with the update). The tenth and last reward is much more valuable and useful ;-)

Bummer, I hope I haven't missed my opportunity to get those by playing it before the updates. I don't want to start over. Sometimes I find stuff and it says - You have learned something new - even though I already have the upgrade or recipe!? So it's like the game don't keep track on what I already have and just assume that I don't have a certain thing just because after the upgrade you can only get it by doing certain tasks.
Maybe I should try visiting Polo some more, maybe the game think I've only visited him 5 times or whatever since I haven't done much of that after the updates.

Previously you found new stuff just by looting crashed drones and shelters but now you only get nanites, units, refreshed shield and health by doing those things. You still get new things from completing the operation center task but they've changed the game so much, playing it from the start now must be a completely different experience. It's definitely a much more challenging game today.

I got the V2 and V3 after the updates by doing the Polo quests etc, so it's never impossible to get them. They're currently next to useless though, and they don't stack (incredible). I think one of them opens the doors for the lower one as well but I'm not sure which one that is, probably V2.

The "you learned something new" message you get is a bug, a fixed one that later regressed back to being broken and it's been like that for a long time now. It happened when they started adding new stuff to learn beyond the default ones from vanilla. It's annoying but not game breaking.

Aha okay, then there is hope! And I just got the Warp Reactor Tau (which I already had), so going by that list I seem to be at the 10th reward, I'll just keep going and see what happens, V2 should be the 12th reward. It's a bit strange, I already have everything on the list except the Atlas Passes, I guess I got the other stuff from the previous way of getting upgrades but the Atlas Passes aren't among those. We'll see what happens.

NipNip farming is started now btw! I only have a few plants so far but combined with the other farming I've already started getting my broken 47 slot ship back to being usable. When things are going right this game is awesome! I'm so glad I can see past the faults!

Finally, finally, FINALLY reached the Galactic Hub yesterday (the original one). With how limited the game still is at this stage you wouldn't think a lot would change at large. But HOLY SHIT, it really is like a whole different playing field. I mean, just the sensation of clicking "search for discovered systems" and seeing all stars around you light up like fucking Christmas tree is so satisfying.

The fact that so, so much around me is discovered, properly labeled and "marked" with discoverable bases and messages makes it seem like a big community effort and a satisfying dose of a "multiplayer" sensation without actually having such a feature implemented.

It is so easy to find needed materials now. Need Rigogen? I just search around me, check the tags and boom! There I am in the system, I search around for the planet in question and get myself some glowing sea balls. I then also search for a planetary base, visit it, check if I can make use of a farm or two and make some money in the process. Hell, if you discover someone else's NipNip farm (which is highly likely) you basically don't need to make one of your own!

What's also great is that if a planet has 100% discovered fauna already done by another player(s), you can simply reupload the data to both get a decent amount of money AND get a "tick" to the milestone counter. That's how I got the last trophy needed for my Platinum yesterday.

And, while it is silly at large, the feeling of naming systems, planets, fauna or flora just seems a lot more worthwhile since they are a lot more likely to be seen by others. It's like a nice, small way of leaving your mark in an endless playing field.

Seriously guys, if you haven't already, check the Galactic Hub out! It may very well rejuvenate the game for you and then some! I know it did for me.
