Next year is going to be seriously more hype with DBZ and MVCi. Two new games so throw out all the current rankings.

I think it's funny that Splyce picked up RyanLV like literally a week before UMVC3 is done.

Is DBFZ releasing before EVO?

i don't think there's any chance that BBxTB is coming out in the first half of next year; the trailer looks like the kind of first draft they ask you to turn in high school to make sure that you aren't doing 3 page papers the morning they're due

also, we know that DBFZ is coming out "early" 2018 and i don't think they'd want to release two tag fighters too close to each other

this shit is probably gonna be so low budget . . .

you're probably right about spacing after dbfz, but i'm sure it'll be out before evo

Between the showcased games, finals and announcement EVO have been great this year, a bigger "FG celebration" than any year before. Don't think I ever watched more top-8s before, KoF, Xrd, Marvel, BB, Tekken 7 and SFV! Missed I2 due to sleep. :(

What about Smash? Tell me you did miss out on Smash!

So is Sajam the new UltraDavid or what? Did he leave the scene?
David did Injustice 2 top 8 and some SFV pools commentary atleast.
I think Sajam is one of the very best commentators right now, though, so he definitely deserves it.

Cross post from EVO thread. For those that missed it due to the madness of this thread last night, SFV ended one of the best EVO's ever with 235,000 unique viewers across both Twitch and YouTube (ESPN2 numbers will be added later), making it the highest watched game at EVO 2017.

Oh cool. I like both, even if they both sound EXACTLY like each other..

Cross-posting from the Blazblue thread...

Hey guys,

I decided I finally want to try to learn how to play Blazblue, after being put off by how complicated Calamity Trigger seemed when I bought it back in the day. The most recent one I have access to right now is Continumm Shift (which was a PS Plus game at some point), and I wanted to know if anyone could recommend a character to start with, because at first glance it seems really intimidating.

I'm very much a casual player of fighting games, but here are the characters I play in other games

SF5: Cammy
SF4: Cammy, Boxer, Chun
Persona: Kanji
Guilty Gear (the most recent one I really played was X2 on PS2): Chipp, Ky
Tekken: Nina, Lars

Thanks!

Try Ky. He's as close to a shoto as you get, though his SRK is needs to be used with care. Tsubaki and Noel are also easy to use characters.

The blazblue game announcement still has me floored

and wasn't Harada going to meetings at ArcSys for something/files were found for airdashes/bursts/advancing guard? Unless Kiryu could somehow defy his own games then yeah nah.

Comparing a game announcement to the Abigail trailer isn't really fair IMO, but the Geese one is hard to argue with.

I will lose my goddamn shit if Kiryu winds up making it in Tekken 7 I swear to god

It's hard to compete with a surprise guest character vs. a nobody that everyone knew was coming.

I want to say they have commentated together at least once, don't remember which tournament. It was hilarious trying to differentiate between the two.

It's pretty funny that Sajam has admitted that he's listened to past tournaments and thought "I don't remember commentating this" and realizes it's UltraDavid lol

For those who missed out EVO 2017's ESPN / Disney XD broadcasts:

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: http://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=3122091

Street Fighter V: http://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=3121480

(I think they're US only)

Man I also wish they could release a SFV top 8 with the house commentary of Yipes and LI Joe. Would just be really interesting to see the same matches with completely different styles and personalities.

EDIT: Oh shit, ESPN broadcast has the players faces during the entire match? I just saw Punk's look and smile when Tokido did the taunt > DP finish in their first match of GF. Man, it's worth rewatching the whole thing just for that part alone.

Accroding to Jiyuna, Tanukana was absolutely devastated by her loss in pools and booked a plane ticket home immediately :(

Jiyuna then proceeded to block the dude who beat her from entering the Anime Suite lol

They are lazy for just blindly embracing traditions instead of stopping to question them:
"Let's keep using that 30 year old system of complicated motions and 6 face buttons and make competitive users spend money in a 200$ controller instead of working in a new control system with modern pads!".

It only works because there is nothing else.

I appreciate their hard work in other areas, like character design. But you can get so far being derivative.

Then Smash is more popular than ever and there's still folks that haven't figured it out. You have to try and MAKE a REAL effort as a developer to be inclusive and accesible.
The Smash crazies are out for blood today on GAF

Fucking EVO.

I want a stick for SFV on PC. Any suggestions? I suspect there may be some lingering EVO coupon codes going down. I'm in the US.

I'd also use it to play MAME stuff to get a more "arcade" feel from time to time.

Jiyuna, the true hero.

But yeah, she was eliminated surprisingly quick.

How much are you willing to spend? For $150 you can get the Hori RAP. for $200 you can get the Qanba Obsidian. The Razer Panthera is also supposed to be good but man I just don't trust that company.
