So, what's your Jawmuncher Franchise?

You all know Jaw's passion about Dino Crisis and Action-focused Resident Evil, franchises that are, more or less, dead or moved to something else like in RE7.

I was thinking about the concept of having our personal Jawmuncher Franchises, games or IPs that are not as good or memorable for the wide market but they have a piece of our hearts within them and we wait patientely to them to be back and strong.

I think my Jaw Franchise is probably Corpse Party, it had a strong good game and the following sequels were panned by both the critics and the fans but I know there's potential in the franchise and I want it to be back so bad...

So GAF, what are your Jawmuncher Games?

Edit: Maybe is good to emphasize that the franchise must be not as good to start with, like Dino Crisis, but you love it regardless. Not just a Dead IP you want to be back

Valkyrie Profile. 2 of my favorite games a good SRPG and then nothing until a mobile gacha. The world is truly a sad place.

Edit: Now that I think more about it Suikoden is probably in there as well. I pretty much enjoyed all of them even if they weren't all the highest of quality.

Tie.

F-Zero & Project Justice/Rival Schools.

There's a very small chance PJ/RS might get a 3rd game one day, but F-Zero is dead forever.

Star Fox. It's been all downhill since Starfox 64 (in my opinion). I thought Zero would be the one especially with Platinum on board.

Yeah...

Edit: just reread the OP with the edit. Maybe I misunderstood. Screw it, my post stands.

Lmao at the thread title

In my case:

- Prince of Persia 2008
- Onimusha

I love them to death, and I wish Capcom and Ubi revisit them some day

Echo Night series
Aquanaut's Holiday series

Both somehow managed to get multiple games, but sales had to have been terrible for all of them. I still love them and yearn for the day a new entry in either series is announced.

Aquanaut's for PSVR seems like a no-brainer to me. :(

3D Rayman games might be mine.

Rayman 2 & 3 are some of my favortie 3D platformers. Really wish they'd make a new game in that style.

Shit just saw your edit. Ummm would probably go with Vandal Hearts. An SRPG series with a lot of problems but I found super enjoyable. It got a new game a few years ago but it wasn't very good sadly.

Also I would argue with you a bit Dinocrisis is a good if somewhat derivative clone of RE.

EDIT: oh it has to be a slightly bad game
Hmmmmmm. Probably that off-road racing game Evo 4x4 2

LMAO that Jawmuncher is basically a meme now

Does Castlevania count? I mean it got a Netflix series but old CV needs some more games. Something like that, F- Zero, Shining Force and Legacy of Kain.

I'm sure I've got better examples that I can't think of, but:

Front Mission.
Road Trip Adventure (I know Choro Q is a thing but nothing in the series gets close to adventure and the series is basically dead anyway).

Pitfall: The Lost Expedition. Such a mediocre game but I love it so, so much.

There is literally no chance of anything ever happening with it again, though. Even Pitfall in general is probably dead forever :(

All the good answers are taken already...

I guess I wouldn't mind a new game like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance or Champions of Norath/Return to Arms.

Dungeon Siege and Sacred would be cool too. I don't see any of them being revived though, especially Sacred. Sacred 3 was a horrible pile of trash and probably killed the franchise for good.

The World Ends With You

Square Enix has very likely cancelled the sequel they teased at the end of the mobile version of the game. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and I would love to see a sequel get made. I'm sure they could come up with something creative for the Switch's Joycons for a battle system.

F0rneus

Tears in the rain
8-bit Mega Man. Not 16-bit, not X, not Zero, not the weird RPGs.

NES style Mega Man. I still believe.

Destroy All Humans. RIP, old friend.

The first two games aren't bad at all though, they're just not "great".

Mega Man.

My faith will never die.
But that IP will.

For me, I guess it's Legend of Dragoon. It was only one game, and it released to mediocre reviews but it was my first engrossing console JRPG and I absolutely loved the battle system and Dragoon transformations. Took a lot of inspiration from super sentai (Japanese power Rangers)

Splatterhouse.

The originals kind of played like shit but as a kid it was just so awesome an idea to a young horror fan who's main hobby was games.

Then the remake came out and while it didn't play bad it wasn't good either, and the most off putting stuff wasn't even gameplay but the shit story, the waste of any good atmosphere since instead of horror it seemed they were trying dark but humorous, terror mask cracking jokes and shit.

I would still love it to get another shot, but not with dumbed down story's atmosphere or combat.

Serious, with combat based not on Character Action but more visceral and cinematic. There should always be blood on the screen but not through QTE's.

Also if they ever do hopefully they don't try the various states of undress girlfriend pictures, that just creeped me out and is one of the few times I felt shame for playing a specific game.
