Trump’s lawyers seek to undercut Mueller’s Russia investigation

In what fucking world does Mueller have a conflict of interest? Like, why do Republicans think that? What’s there for them to point to as evidence ?

From what I've seen, a lot more Republican congressmen have had pretty much all good things to say about Mueller. It's basically the Trump administration that mostly don't want him along with worms who are fine with anything as long as it's anti-democrat such as:

What they think doesn't have to have any basis in reality. They can invent whatever messaging they want and FOX News will spread it. Breitbart will spread it. WikiLeaks will spread it. Their little army of Twitter bots will spread it. And their cultivated legions of brainwashed, unthinking masses will believe it to be gospel.

Yep.

This is how their "thinking" works: Mueller is investigating Dear Leader Trump who must be protected at all costs. So let's make up some BS about him having conflicts of interest.

They use the fact that he's friends with Comey and the that some the people he hired donated to democratic campaigns as "evidence". Seriously.

I just don't get how we can just say these things on tv and it's legal. It's illegal for me to yell fire in a building but it's legal to just make shit up on national television.
Televangelists have migrated into politics, talk radio and cable news.
Story time no longer has any boundaries. The truth is a threat to corruption that must be stamped out, undercut and neutered.
And complacency among the just has allowed this to become the NEW normal.

God damn. That first response is savage.

The problem is that we're at a point where we can't have government decide what's fact or not because that inevitably leads to twists about what's actually true. It's also worth pointing out that Fox News works like a negative feedback loop. Fox News definitely helps propagate propaganda that helps push an incredibly polarized country......but they mostly do that because that's what their audience wants, and they turn away if Fox News isn't doing that.

@foxnews
.@newtgingrich: “The Mueller investigation has so many conflicts of interests, it’s almost an absurdity.” #Hannity

Let's stop paying attention to a piece of shit like Newt Gingrich.

I know the pee tape is a running gag by now, but honestly, even if such a thing exists, what would be the result? Dems will be disgusted and horrified like with everything else Trump does. Republicans, who have supported literally every shitty thing he's done so far will continue to do so with this. Here are some of the reactions that would arise:

Paul Ryan: Look, I'm not going to comment on every minor questionable sex act the president is engaged in. I'm here to pass tax reform and cut spending.

Eric Bolling: As far as I know, there's no law on the books that says it's illegal for the president of the United States to pay hookers to piss on him.

Tucker Carlson: The pee tape only proves that the president is not some arugula eating, coastal elite and that he's able to relate to the common man living in Middle America.

Jeffrey Lord: Having prostitutes piss on him proves how alpha the President is.

Sean Hannity: How do we know Hillary hasn't ever asked Russian prostitutes to urinate on her?

Mike Huckabee: Come on, now. Who among us hasn't engaged in urine-based sexual practices?

The pee tape is so ridiculous that it's existence would confirm everything else in the dossier.
(I personally think it's real but we will never see it.)

At least I get to look my Jesus-is-the-way-and-the-life mom in the face and say "You wholly support a man with five children from three marriages who paid Russian sex workers to urinate on what may have been the hotel bed of a former President."

Small victories!

The piss tape is not of Donald getting pee'd on, which is a rampant misinterpretation of what it entails.

The piss tape is of Donald watching hookers piss on a bed that the Obama's had once slept in. That's it.

Wait, THAT'S what the piss tape actually entails? If that's the case, then Republicans will have an even easier time defending him.

Yeah. And all of the other "rumors" surrounding it (underage hookers, Trump using the n-word) are as far as I know, complete inventions of the twitterverse with no actual source. The pee tape is a nothingburger. Comedians will clown on it (maybe more than they already do) and Trumpists will ignore it.

I thought the pee tape was significant because, if real, it would confirm the rest of the dossier and prove the Russians have blackmail on Trump.

It's fucking abhorrent behavior. You really think this fucking pig wouldn't have fucked said hookers too given the Billy Bush tapes and him trying to fuck the former apprentice contestant? The whole thing here is that if this tape exists it would be secretly taped by the FSB. It probably isn't just pissing but fucking as well.

And yeah it would pretty much confirm the rest of the dossier which is where the actual treason is.

I don't believe anything Trump says ever, but wondering if he can pardon himself could just be paranoia about what he supposedly believes is a rigged system.

Isn't this straight up obstruction of justice?
They probably believe Mueller is the one "obstructing" justice.
Because a just outcome would be leaving Trump, his family, his allies and his Russian friends alone to make America great again.

This is the mindset of one that has perverted the truth.

I can see that really happening. He is so stupid I could see him perjuring himself because he think he's above the law (he is at this point actually).
Perjury isn't a crime if you're the President and can pardon it away. What a wonderful world!

It wouldn't confirm it. Mensch could land on a real story and it wouldn't confirm the rest of her insane ramblings. If the pee tape was real, it would say that Steele has legit sources and the rest of the dossier should be seriously investigated. Which the senate committees apparently already are, given the individuals named in the document requests sent to Don Jr and Manafort.

“They’re talking about real estate transactions in Palm Beach several years ago,” Sekulow said. “In our view, this is far outside the scope of a legitimate investigation.”

Well, I wonder where there may be an issue.

Pence could do that just as well. Trump himself has no benefit to the agenda beyond being a warm body who can hold a pen. He's not capable of advocating for policy because he doesn't understand policy. He's a bad dealmaker. The only thing keeping him around is his crowd of MAGA idiots and the near-certainty that Trump will go on a warpath on twitter, etc. raging against Congress if he's removed.

Have you seen the alt-right responses to Mccain's cancer? They despise the traditional GOP. Trump's demagoguery is the latest ruse keeping the voters believing they have someone fighting for them when in reality its just pushing the same tired GOP agenda that benefits the 1% and big business. Until they realize they've been had yet again the Republican congress will back Trump.

technically, it has to be proven in the courts that he can't pardon himself otherwise it is still legal but highly unethical

After watching the most recent A Closer Look with Seth Meyers I am not surprised the orange nitwit took this cue to try and cut off the obvious heat on him from Mueller. The problem is the guy was vetted by everyone and all this does is raise more red flags than the red flag superstore that is the orange moron can even contain.

You make a good point.

Fox News and the right propaganda machine deserve a lot of blame for the sad state America is in right now with this mess. What's worse is they are doubling down on all the lies and spin.

There's huge conflicts of interest. Mueller's team has made careers on putting away criminals, and Trumps team has made careers on being criminals. Don't you think they're a little biased?

Its actually ok for them to do that right now because Trump listens to them rather than his lawyers and repeats their bullshit and then actually acts on what he perceives to be sound legal advice he heard on FOX news. The right wing media is aiding in Trump and co.'s demise and they could care less if he is impeached because they make money either way.

Seriously, Mueller should just listen to what Trump and his lawyers claim are outside the bounds of the investigation and focus their efforts.

Trump will become undone undone over this. His business empire is probably as corrupt as any mafia Don's. This shadyness mixed with with his dad's successful business he had continued to run may all come tumbling down.

I hope Mueller has some kind of deadman switch rigged up that sends evidence to every state attorney general in the country with evidence of multiple state-level crimes committed by every member of the Trump administration.

If a President can pardon themself from any crime what's to keep them from literally doing whatever they want regardless of the law as long as congress won't impeach them?

Reelecation chances, bad times for their respective party and legacy probably?

The tabloids are going full crazy and saying that Mueller has been the Clintons' personal stooge for decades and that he was ordered by Hillary to destroy Trump as revenge for the election. No word on how Hillary got him appointed special prosecutor, though.
Their source: Larry Nichols of The Clinton Chronicles infamy. This is the same guy who recently claimed he was an assassin for the Clintons despite there being no statute of limitations on murder.

I kind of want to live in the reality where Trump pardons himself.
In the grand scheme of things there really isn't much different between Trump pardoning himself or Pence doing it after he resigns.

The latter just entails either a 25th amendment play or him not being President any more (a job which Trump himself and his family alike seem to not be enjoying). Still doesn't mean any charges get levied, any jail time is served or any lessons get learned by the Republicans outside of "next time we need to do a better job of not getting caught / not rallying behind an imbecile".
