Stranger Things season 2 Comic-Con Trailer

The most 80's thing about this isn't Dragon's Lair or Ghostbusters or Thriller, it's the show being willing to put children in front of the camera and trust them to fucking act.

I left a comment in the video about this. The child actors in this show are incredible.

This show feels like such a love letter to the 80s. I really liked the first season, but I was also 5 years old when the 80s ended. I wonder how people who were teenagers or older during the decade feel about this show in general. Is it "trying too hard?"

I was so surprised that they actually made him likable in the end. Even subverted the cliche of his girlfriend (I forgot her name) going for Will's brother. (I forgot his name too.) Well, for Season 1 at least.

I hope they don't end up together in Season 2. Will's brother was a weird, possessive little creepo towards her.

Nah, what makes the show remarkable isn't that it's paying homage to the era, it very frequently feels like it was made in the era. There are things it does not just with set design, but with the direction, the cinematography - it feels like something that was made in 1987, and just got lost for 30 years.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

I was born in 85 and despite growing up more in the 90's most of the stuff I consumed came from the 80's which I'm sure is similar for most people my age range. So we're all more than familiar with most 80's movies, shows, songs, etc.

I was 11 when the 80s ended. Seems about right to me tbh maybe apart from the slang and such used back then? But I guess it depends where you are from too. Also, it's not like when it turned into the 90s everything just flipped over and changed immediately into something different. Early 90s were basically like the 80s anyway. I'd say it's about as accurate as you can get really.

a lot of my threads involve me fucking up somehow. Perhaps I'm a moron?

As a fellow '85er I'm right there with you. Most of the mid-late 80's media resonates with me far stronger than a lot of stuff from the 90s.

It's funny I was born in 82, but I'm from Colombia, back then this worldwide releases were unheard of, so things took years to get outside the US, wich is why I feel absolutely like an 80s kid, most of those movies, music, TV show etc took literal years to get home, 2 - 3 years to get the dubbing/subs were not odd.

Yep one of the biggest and best surprises on the show. You expect him to just be this total douche that your gonna hate but he actually ends up being easily one of the best characters on the show

I don't like this thing where 90s kids who have been ramming 90s kid shit down everyone's throats the last 3 or 4 years are suddenly claiming the 80s as their true alignment.

You will wear those goddamned Zubaz and like it.

As a Canadian I feel like I'm just slightly ahead of you, but definitely we were a bit later getting everything as well.

Dude how silky will Silky Steve be by the end of this season?
Also, i think Nancy is having to come to terms with Barbs death and kind of her fault in it. Something i don't think she knows. Until maybe now in season 2.

Would explain her continued display of sorrow and guilt.
It's not really her fault, though. She went in to the house, she assumed Barb left. Barb stayed. How was Nancy supposed to know an interdimensional monster was on the loose?

I disagree to an extent. Yes, the scene where he takes snapshots of them was not okay, and the show does everything possibly to be like, "Obviously you'll feel bad for him because his life's shit, but also that was not okay on any level." So yes, he was creepy, but for most of the show he either doesn't interact with her or actually rejects her a bit. But they do bond and you do see that genuine bond over the fucked shit they've had to deal with right near the end. I never got possessive out of him.

Steve is super silky though. He'll win her back (even though that scene with Nancy in the alleyway is clearly her breaking up with him).

Yeah, I'm expecting another swerve by the end of this season where you think Steve's gonna take the L but he snatches a win out of thin air at the last second.

Hey. I'll have you know that watched I Love the 80's on VH1 in the early 2000s like every other millenial and am now just as much of an expert on that decade as the people who actually experienced it.

Members Only jackets and Wham!, am I right guys?? Good times.

I want it now. I don't really watch much tv. Usually I just leave it on for background noise while I'm reading or fucking around on my computer. Stranger Things was the last show I really watched, and it was so good. I want more.
