UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy - Western Ghats Gameplay Video (the open-world-ish area)

UC4 is my fave. This more of that by the looks of it so bring it on. Voice acting was also fine, not at all bad.

It's funny how putting the entry point for a map in the middle makes a huge difference in feel when traversing that area. I like the addition of stealth crates in combat areas since I mostly beat U4 in stealth.

Minor complaint:
At 4 minutes and 8 seconds there is an annoying stream in effect for the tree reflections in the water at the lower left side.

Some nice previews and it seems to be more different from U4 than I thought.
Looking forward to it, but won't watch more videos now.

Looks incredible. Those lush as hell environments. Damn.

You're nuts, lol.

Also, totally weren't in the studio at the same time. Yep...

The actors obviously worked together in studio for large portions of the game. Glam is talking specifically about the banter while driving around, not fully scripted sequences.

Honestly, I kind of agree with the assessment. If you watch through the whole gameplay video, there's a few conversations that really don't sound like two people having a back and forth. Specifically the one where Chloe asks Nadine about
her history with Asav
.

I'm sure everything will feel more natural in the full game though. Once you're given the setup for each chapter with more polished, scripted scenes, the rest of the game's dialogue will likely fit better. Can't wait to get my hands on this though. Love the addition of a silenced pistol and the renewed focus on more open areas.

Convos were a bit different in the jeep in Uncharted 4 too, with the whole pause-continue conversation system when you separate from Sam and Sully.

I'm still wary of the open world elements making their way into this series (even Madagascar was iffy for me if I'm being honest), but I only skimmed around briefly in the video since I want to be unspoiled.

I hope they are able to make the Indian setting feel unique and different from similar-looking jungle areas in UC4. I wish they still had Greg Edmonson for the music; his score always helped sell the various locations.

Still very optimistic as I just can't get enough of this series. Really looking forward to the city level(s).

Looks like re-skinned UC4. I think I'll pass on this one or just wait for the consensus after the honeymoon period is over. Was not a fan of the pacing in the last game.

Never played an Uncharted game, but this looks awesome.

It looks like they took the best parts of the open worldish nature of the recent Tomb Raider games which was one of the few ways it differentiated itself from the Uncharted games.

Hope the game will be better than UC4. I like the open world idea, but too bad the game will be shorter than UC4.

Considering the jeep section was the worst part in 4 (barring scuba diving), this footage isn't making this new area look much better than it.

Small detail but I don't remember U4 having the lighter water silhouette around surfaced parts of characters.

I know exactly what you mean.

Yes, it's great that they're trying to evolve the gameplay into a semi-open world but I'm not sure if I want an Uncharted game going too far in that direction. I personally prefer my Uncharted to be a more linear, cinematic experience.

I agree the Madagascar section was by far the worst part of UC4. I was bored to tears after half and hour.

On a more positive note, it looks fantastic. Some great use of colour

Took five games but the game actually has competent stealth now.

Still doesn't seem to be a distraction mechanic tho. :/

In terms of the engine this is literally a mod for UC4. Basically the Halo 3 ODST of the series.

HQ version of the gameplay is up on Sony's press site, but it's +4GB file.

I'll post when I'm done uploading.

I was kinda expecting it have some uniqueness to it since it evolved into being its own project. Looks almost identical imo. Like I said, I'll wait to see how the full project actually turns out.
I mean, this project was only in development for ~1 year. They simply expanded upon what they already had going with the DLC. It is fine if you don't like it but it is also unrealistic to expect it to be something unique relative to UC4.

Maybe he wanted a JRPG with cel-shaded graphics?

Chloe's cellphone seems to be accessible all the time so it might be a wider replacement for Drake's Journal.

Impressions sound great but there's no way I'm going to spoil such a huge chunk of the game lol.
It's not like I don't know what to expect.

Good characters - yeah.

The voice acting is still really bad though.

At no point did it sound like two humans having a conversation in a moving car.

Always sounded like two women in a studio - you can almost hear the paper they´re reading of. (In separate sessions, because I don´t think they were in the studio at the same time)

Naughty Dog do not work like this. They reccord the dialogues and movement of the characters at the same time with every actor in set.

There are a few The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 making-of videos with motion capture sessions.

I am sure The Last of Us had something to do with that.

Well maybe not everything.

Has it been said if this will spoil anything from UC4? Haven't gotten around to it yet but want to jump in with this

Well it's set after UC4 so there's a possibility. Why don't you finish off A Thief's End, you've got about a month.
