Yesterday, on the latest edition of the regular Sega Raw live stream, Sega producer and director Toshihiro Nagoshi stated that Persona 5 had surpassed 1.8 million copies shipped worldwide.

On April 5, 2017, it was reported that Persona 5 had exceeded 1.5 million shipped copies worldwide. Since then, the Korean version of the game was released on June 8, 2017.

Great performance for the game!

Awesome! I loved the game, even if it took me two months (had to take a break) to beat it. I do hope however that if a "Crimson" edition is made they cut some of the padding, the game is sooooooo much longer than the previous games when it did not need to be.

Need information on the other Persona game sales, not sure if this is good/great or expected (from Sega's point of view).

Huh. I mean, that's really good, but for reason I always thought of Persona as something that sells a lot more.

Like 3 Mil in the first month or something.

I think maybe it's because of how long it took + internet hype.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
That's really impressive. Congrats Atlus - well deserved.

P4 Golden was the first time Persona hit it big in sales iirc

Those are ridiculously high numbers, that would be Final Fantasy level. Persona is much more niche, but still a big name in the genre.

Congrats to well-deserved sales. Currently replaying the game and it's just as enjoyable as it was the first time. Definitely my GotY so far.

I think we'll have to discuss this via text message over the course of the next few days. But let's go to bed first, since you must be tired.

Altus, surely someone assisted you in being able to have a turn-based JRPG sell over 1.5 million copies!

Spill it, who was it?!

It's gonna hit double the lifetime sales of Persona 4 (both PS2 and Golden) I would guess. Well deserved!

I hope this convinces Atlus to cash in on HD remasters of SMT3/DDS/P3 and 4. I'm here ready with wallet in hand for some easy money.

Awesome news, looking forward to seeing where they go with the franchise from here. Well deserved! Hopefully gets a boost from some deals around the holidays for those who are still on the fence. If you're even remotely interested in JRPGs it's definitely worth a shot though.

And yes given me a Golden remaster for PS4 next please.

"Turn-based is old and unappealing"

Well done Atlus!

Makes sense if the highest rated turn-based JRPG of the last few years only gets to 2 million.

No idea if that's within Atlus' expectations, but for the industry at large if 2 mil is considered a breakthrough number, they probably wouldn't pursue that.

Awesome. Come on atlus, start pumping out games/remasters instead of making people wait for another decade!!!
