Full werewolf off the buckle
I find myself in an odd position. Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 are two of my most favorite games. The storytelling, the atmosphere, the gunplay, all are all very compelling to me. I love going through these terrific horror levels, from point A through point B, and blasting zombies.
It seems like there aren't a lot of similar options out there these days, and I know Valve ain't coming to the rescue. You've got games like Killing Floor 2 which are ostensibly the same; they've got a multiplayer focus with a horror setting, but it's wave-based. To me that takes away maybe my favorite aspect of the series which is travelling from location to location, Safe house to Safe house.
I'm not entirely sure if maybe Fortnight might be what I'm looking for. From the cinematic trailers it looks amazing, but watching the gameplay it looks very different with its focus on base building and resource gathering. The cinematic trailer really stung when I watched it because I so wanted to be with these teammates going through this town, flooded with the walking dead, rescuing people. What the vids I've seen seem to show, sadly, is Minecraft with hordes of zombies.
Maybe I'm wrong, though. I'd love to be. Hell, I'd buy it tonight if it turned out I was. I really don't care for the "Build a position up, horde mode" kinda dealie though.
Is there anything out there for those left hungry for a new L4D? PC maybe? Ideally on PS4 but, at this point, I'm not picky.
I miss the game like hell, and know there's more content for L4D out there than any one human could ever consume. I just want something out there that will be a balm to this aching void of L4D 3.
Hell, some of my favorite gaming memories are putting on a podcast and playing L4D single player. I've put hundreds of hours into the series both single player and with my kids, but maybe only 10 online.
