Overcooked Special Edition finally hitting the Switch this week

I looked at the trailer on Youtube and it does look like 30FPS. Anyone can chime in and tell me if that is at least steady. Most importantly in handheld mode. Would lean towards Switch version because it's easier for local coop than my PC.

Can confirm the framerate is pretty poor. I assumed it'd be a solid 60+, but the intro level dropped below 30. This was in handheld.

Took a chance and yeah, the performance is awful. The intro level is terrible while the first level's framerate is improved but still poor. There's an uneven jerkiness to it that could be a frame pacing issue in addition to an uneven framerate. I'm definitely recommend holding off on this to see if it gets patched.

Yikes.

Performance issues are putting me off now. I might just go for the PS4 which is really cheap in the sale at the moment.

I would absolutely buy this, but the reports of a bad framerate holds me back. I don't really care about graphics that much but the framerate is very important to me.

If PS4 was 30FPS, are people saying the Switch version is less than 30FPS?

I've only played the intro level + the first level, and to me it seemed to vary between 20-25fps in the intro, and about 25 on the first level (which had less going on).

Not awful, but definitely not a solid 30.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Well...guess we know why the launch day trailer showed less than 5 second of gameplay footage ..lol.

Still getting it, hope they improve the performance with Patches down the line.

That sucks to hear.

Will wait for a performance patch then.

Yikes. Hopefully they will patch it. I don't want my $20 go to waste.

I've played it on both PC and PS4 Pro before, and there's some frame-pacing issues or something there as well. Especially noticable when driving the car on the stage-select map.

Bad frame rate? That's such a shame. I was ready to purchase. I don't really understand why, It's not exactly a demanding game

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
I'm gonna wait for more impressions. Not that I don't doubt the fps issue, but I'd like to hear more sources comment on this.

That's disappointing. But thanks for the impressions.

Played an hour of this in two player. It's great! Did up to level 2-2 in tabletop mode.

The level designs are very strong, you feel like you're thrown in at the deep end very early on which is good, forces you to adapt all the time. It does seem like some of the requirements for 3 star ratings seem like they'd be more achievable in four player but I like how a very well co-ordinated group of two can attain some of them.

As for those asking about performance: In handheld/tabletop mode at least it was certainly playable, I'd say it's solid.

Yeah, the framerate fluctuates sometimes but it's not something either of us noticed in actual gameplay. Might be because character movement itself is floaty.

Can we just use each joycon for 2 players? Meaning no need to buy extra controllers? I saw others ask this, but somehow I couldn't find anyone answering.

Yeah as I suspected, the performance issues are being massively overstated.

If you mean can you use one joycon for each player, then yes. If you mean can you play with four players using two joycons, then obviously not...

One joycon each is all that's required.

Performance is quite ok in docked mode IMO. The game is more about shouting at your co-players than about framerate.

Yup. It's nothing unacceptable, didn't notice any input lag preventing us from placing dishes or ingredients in the wrong places at the right time, and while the framerate wasn't 100% locked at 30fps neither of us mentioned the framerate or felt like it impacted our game.

It's not perfect but it's certainly not an issue, at least in tabletop/handheld mode. For a game that already has intentionally floaty/imprecise controls I certainly didn't feel like anything was off. Going to try docked mode tomorrow.

So where do I get clean plates after putting them in sink?

You have to clean them while they are in the sink. Hit the action button after you put the plates in the sink.

You can put all of the dishes in the sink and clean them all at the same time which is nice, they will just stack up next to the sink as you finish them.

I think I might get this, my wife and I had a blast with it on PS4, might be up for a double dip.
