Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

Don't move while using it.

I don't know how I didn't realize that the tooltip says effect cancelled upon movement.

it does.

the thing that you're probably unaware of is how it accepts mudra inputs: it records the previous mudra input and adds it to the next input, and so on.

to put it simply, you have to go

fuma (one step mudra)> raiton (two step) > suiton (three step) (if trick attack is up) or fuma > katon > doton

but you're only inputting a total of three mudra to do the sequence

So Ten -> Ninjutsu that will cast Fuma Shuriken, then just Chi -> Ninjutsu again to cast Raiton, then just another standalone Jin -> Ninjutsu to end the ability on a double potency Doton?

Ok, I can see why this is rad. It's more of a stairstep, where I interpreted that I had to do the full Mudra sequences for the spells that I wanted to cast... But instead, it's one continuous Ten -> Ninjutsu, Chi -> Ninjutsu, Jin -> Ninjutsu to effectively cast all three spells in one layered sequence. Ahhh, I absolutely see and LOVE the value in that then. It shall be employed to great effect, knowing this. I can see why this is rather difficult to communicate in the tooltip text.

EDIT: Forward Ten -> Chi -> Jin to lead-into Suiton/Trick Attack finisher (ideal for single target engagement), backward Jin -> Chi -> Ten to lead-in to Doton finisher (ideal for multi target engagement). I see now, I seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

EDIT 2: nope I see that backward sequence would lead into Huton as final ninjutsu (which I presume would waste the double potency effect), so I'd have to start Jin or Ten, perform the opposite to get a Katon, then finish on Chi to end on Doton. Ok, ok, I see I see.

There's a flying tiger mount for doing a lot of A/S ranks. It's one of the reasons people are zerg rushing hubts.

Ah okay that's a pretty low-key mount for that amount of kills :-(.

Any way to check number of A/S ranks kills so far in the game? I think I've killed a lot of these but I'm not sure it's thousands...

Open the Achievements window and look for the one that gives you the mount - should be the last one in the Hunts tab. It'll tell how far along you are if you click it.

Congrats on those O4S clears!

Man, I just want to get o2s done

This fight is easy, the mechanics are simple

literally just go stand here until the next thing, then stand here and yet...
I feel like O1 and 2 are actually a little prone to players spacing out purely because they are so slow when compared to older first turns like T10, A1S and so on. Either that or I'm getting old.

I'm close to a clear too. Should get it next raid night.

Thanks guys. It's a fun fight and I'm curious to see what other people think of it; it feels like they took the reaction to Gordias to heart and delivered a final fight more in the spirit of Thordan EX than leg killing simulator 2015 the Manipulator, but that's just me. Noct AST shields remain stupidly OP.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like

Did you post your FFLogs yet? I'm interested in looking at it

I actually do like the look of the AST weapon a lot, but yeah most of the gear is not great. TERRIBLE hat game this tier tbh.

The night in all its ugly glory. Five enrages (including requisite 1%) because we remain sloppy as hell; weapons next week should help people a lot/prevent us from ever having to not be sloppy. Soft enrage escalates to actual MP struggle pretty quickly, which was interesting.

I've been thinking about coming back because I want to play so badly. My account had a token on it and that's lost. I dont have the recovery password. I emailed support. Am i screwed?

This isn't an uncommon issue just give them a call instead of email 310-846-0345

wtf someone just told me the enrage for O2S is Catastrophe shooting you up through the roof? Is this true?

No, it's not true. It's a very slow casted Gravitational Wave (or whatever that party-wide aoe attack is) that one shots everyone.

But it's weird, once I've seen the boss do another -100Gs before the enrage, but other times he did not. When he did another -100Gs it added about 10-15 seconds to the enrage timer too.

No. It's a slow casting Gravitational Wave that wipes the party off

Yes, there is another -100G very close to the enrage

Thanks everyone!

Of course your gear is dyed metallic gold.

I mean, congrats!

Some traditions must always be upheld.

Nah, I can agree with this part too; both O1S and O2S have the non-cast bar mini-busters (Wyrm Tail, Paranormal Wave) which skews some of the "something is happening!" pacing as well as it feeling like their AoEs having longer-than-normal cast bars. Also, I legit forget Gravitational Wave actually does as much damage as it ends up doing which probably adds to the whole waiting around feel for O2S. I may just be distracted by tentacle wiggling a lot though.

@enrage - -1000gs would have been a far funnier enrage wipe than slowcast Gravitational. Just have it throw you up a little higher or like have everyone explode in an AoE when they land. Missed opportunities man.

Thanks guys. May the Manipulator rest in pieces forever and ever (and ever).

I think the fight massively delivered on a great set piece and very 'Final Fantasy' fight. I really hope people get to see it and enjoy it in it's full glory too.

Almost to Heavensward! The post-game of ARR is astoundingly long. I thought it would be just a handful of quests. Almost have access to Dark Knight I've been hoping to play for a while.

Can you learn mid 50s skills prior to Heavensward access? My Dragoon is almost 55 now and hasn't had access to a class quest since 50.

Full party allagan rot that extends through the whole fight. Each person marked with their own rot that must be rotated through the party one by one before it falls off and can start to rot rotation anew.

Nope; they all require HW acccess, even when your quest NPC is off chilling in a completely unrelated to Ishgard area.

They already brought back
Allagan Field and Shriek
. What other Allagan bullshit can they dredge back up for Super Savage.

Question for Paladins:

If I begin casting Holy Spirit and the Requiescat buff wears off during the cast, am I still getting one last buffed Holy Spirit?

Thanks, I figured as much. Switched to SAM to finish up the post-game so I wouldn't walk into Heavensward crazy overleveled. Planning on juggling a Dragon, White mage, and Dark Knight trio the rest of the way.

I wouldn't worry too much about being over leveled since you level-sync for duties. I bought Heavensward before I finished the post-ARR quests so I wouldn't have to concern myself with grinding to meet the level requirement for a MSQ. When I started HW I think I was maybe 5 levels ahead of MSQ, when I got to 60 I was maybe 2 levels ahead.

Return of Allagan Rot disco ball parties.

I just finished the main heavensward scenario , going into post-heavensward stuff.

That was good stuff , so happy i have more content.

So many quest signs , So many quest signs...

That shriek is the fake shriek it's more like petrifaction

True; it's mostly the reminder with the circle icon debuff, really. I like to believe there's a version of the fight on the cutting room floor that
involved freezing the water stack (while not hitting it with forked lightning) to LoS Shriek while also making sure it gets hit with Flood of Naught

Return of Allagan Rot disco ball parties.

Honestly, at this point Allagan Rot is a pretty tame mechanic. It's just a buff transfer! That wipes on failure but!

Netcode being what it is for some people, I'd just rather they avoid too many things that rely on it at this point. I think MT/OT threat things end up being a better version of "pick the tether up off the guy" if nothing else, for instance.

Allagan Rot at this point would be completely trivial.

Can we AFK outside of the boss door for 20 mins to cheese it though.

what's this prejudice against MCHs

I always feel the major problem with rot, was the small arena. Many times people passed rot to the wrong people, because space was limited to manouver.

I guess now is not much of a complex mechanics and we had way worst by now, but I understand, why me and so many others struggled so much with it.

Everyone is biased d against machinists at this point. The coolest animations in the world cannot save you from the wrath of Reddit.

T2's heyday was the bad old days of worse server positioning updates which likely would have added more latency on the passes/misses. Plus everything being all new, XIV's built in latency being a fairly unique setup in terms of modern MMOs, etc. with a few years of familiarity with server ticks, it's easier to subconsciously account for stuff.

They got the cool heated animations but they also lost grenado shot, secretly best aoe animation.

RIP Wide Volley and Grenado Shot, you had to die so Dragoons could be Dante.

Why do you hate yourself

Honestly I messed around with basically every DPS class for a few hours this week. I just love the theme of MCH more than the others. I like being ranged and mobile. I guess logically I should just go RDM or BRD because its good but nah.

Also the fact nobody else plays it makes me want to play it I guess
