Monster Hunter World
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite
Devil May Cry 5
Resident Evil 2 Remake

Could easily mount to 8 million if all make this financial year, and that's while under performing, which leave:

Monster Hunter XX switch
Dragon's Dogma remaster
Disney Afternoon collection
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
The Great Ace Attorney 2
And maybe Super SFV and some Switch ports

For 2.3 million, sound very reasonable! ;p

2 million for MvC:I, when the buzz has been overwhelmingly negative even before release, and they still haven't even managed those numbers for SFV? Good one.

Aren't they doing an RE2 remaster like the one they did for RE? Not sure that quite gets them there, but I bet lots of people want such a product and the first one they did was pretty good.

For reference. Capcom's confimed titles this year:

Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Kakugo
Disney Afternoon Collection
Dragon's Dogma (PS4/X1)
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
Monster Hunter: World
Monster Hunter XX Switch Version
Resident Evil Revelations (PS4/X1)
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers

This pulling 10 million seems like a stretch. 7 million at most.

Seems kinda doable? With Disney Aftertoon, Megaman Legacy, Revelations 1 remaster, USF2 on switch, and 4-5 million for monster hunter world alone. If they have one other big title(resident evil revelations 3, maybe? DMC5?) then they could do it.
The biggest Monster Hunter games sold a little above 4 million with most of the sales coming from Japan. Monster Hunter World is going to be lucky to sell a million in Japan and the West isn't going to pick up that much slack. For the ports, excluding Monster Hunter XX, they aren't too strong of a seller without discounts. Combined all their announced titles, I can only see 6 million assuming none significantly underperform. I can't see a single title in Capcom's library selling anywhere near 4 million aside from a main RE.

adorable

marvel is going to fucking bomb and it's all their fault. shout out to marvel as well for being assholes re: x-men and fastastic 4

Honestly, I knew deep down inside that they probably shouldn't even bothered making it.

Marvel and Capcom just aren't the same companies they were when MVC3 was in production. Marvel's all about the MCU these days, going so far to shun and blacklist a huge chuck of their popular legacy characters just because the head of their merchandising division is some old bitter fuck who's pissy that Fox owns the movie rights to said legacy characters. And Capcom is just kind of a carcass of a company which doesn't have the budget or resources to do big AAA games anymore (besides MH World I guess). Put these together and you're left with MVC Infinite, which pretty much lacks most of the soul and charisma of previous VS games.

With the way things are now, I think it would of been better to leave well enough alone when it comes to Marvel.

MHW to become the best selling game in the series extremely fast confirmed.

It won't. And, I'd forgotten that this is the rest of the fiscal year rather than the next fiscal year. They definitely won't be selling 10m.

What most people miss is they sold 10 million last year with:

1) RE7 - 3.5 million
2) MHXX - 1.7 million
3) RE4/5 - 2 million

I'm guessing

1) MvsC - 2 million
2) MHW - 4-5 million
3) something else (RE2:R ? ) (1-2 million)

EDIT: Looks like they got a lot of smaller releases

Only other idea is the expect Monster Hunter XX to pick up a load of slack which is possible. But with the hardware scarcity there's only so many people to sell to.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
The whole point of this game is to bring Monster Hunter to the western market.

It will probably do over 2 million (Tri did almost 2 million), but there's no way it's clearing Portable 3rd numbers.

The problem is Capcom always risks what they're good at and end up losing big.

Monster Hunter is a portable phenomenon in Japan? Lets risk that to make a Western focused console MH

Monster Hunter 4 is a huge success? Lets dump those profits into mobile

DMC4 is the best selling DMC yet? Lets hand a reboot off to a studio not known for good combat.

People love Resident Evil 5 and its the best selling one yet? Lets chase the CoD crowd with the next one.

Megaman has a vocal fanbase? Lets bury the franchise.

PR is important for fighting games? Lets totally botch it for SFxT and MvCI.

We have a treasure trove of beloved ips? Lets not even do budget $20-$30 titles and just ignore them.

Capcom are their own worst enemies.

4 major titles in one year would push sales way past 10m. That said, neither of those are happening this fiscal year.

This pulling 10 million seems like a stretch. 7 million at most.

This probably isn't everything they're releasing.

They did announce Revalations 2 at TGS iirc so maybe Rev3 or REmake 2 at this TGS?

RE and MH cater to different audiences so releasing them around the same time shouldn't be a problem.

This is doubtful even if Function vs Function Infinite wouldnt look so terrible.

And Monster Hunter alone wont sell that much.

The other things like RE Revelation etc. are all small sellers.

The only explanation that makes sense is if Capcom is releasing another Resident Evil game this fiscal year. I don't mean a mainline game but Revelations 3.

Revelatons 2 did 2.2 million so another multi-million seller is possible.

MHW isn't what will be problematic, MvC will.I don't see it selling that much after the tepid reaction and the fact DBFZ stole all the hype.

Here's the thing: I'm pretty certain Capcom's gonna use World as the basis for a portable game. That's their traditional model for Monster Hunter before the 4th generation. You make the home console game, then you make a portable version.

Even if World doesn't sell as big as a portable game, it's a chance to make a new audience, and if that doesn't work out, they can get a killer portable game from the carcass.

Where are all these DMC5 comments coming from? There's no way they would release that big of a game without hyping it up at e3.

They have new Resident Evil rereleases each year, so it doesn't take much imagination.
Obviously they are soon to be releasing a full remake of Dino Crisis.

Does the Western market even care about Monster Hunter? I dont see that game doing over 2 million.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sold 1.5 million units in the west. On 3DS.

I think it's safe to say that, in the west at least, MHW will sell quite well.

But I'm sure their expectations will be unattainable, as usual.

From an article from June, Hiroyuki Kobayashi said the following about REmake 2:

The only thing I can tell you is about something that’s already out in the public. Resident Evil 2, a remade version, the game, will be out from Capcom soon.

Namco's doing the DBZ Beta right before it comes out. They want to kill MVC:I dead.

And honestly? They have a good shot at it.

They do have a chance to screw them over but the actual game releases are months apart and MVCI and DB fans aren't exactly one and the same.

foxuzamaki

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
The only way I think they can hit that target IS if they hit the panic button and announce a switch version of MHW

A new Revelations or REmake 2? I imagine REmake 2 won't be far off release when it's announced so probably before the fiscal year ends?

If they wanted MvCI to sell that much, maybe they should've marketed the game better. It seems like every showing of the game outside of the very first one has been terrible for it.

Seriously, SFV looked way better prior to launch than MvCI does and it still hasn't hit 2 mil.

Capcom is banking hard on MHW being the breakout title huh? While i'd love that a ton I dont know if it will. But we will see maybe the platform and changes they have made will make people more interested.

They have a good shot at people who are into fighting games and DBZ. They have zero shot with the kind of casual audience that exists for Marvel products.
