Neo Geo games coming to Nintendo Switch

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
When is Metal Slug X

Sooooo Metal Slug is the first Neo Geo game I've bought for the Switch and I gotta say, I feel pretty burned. The controls are maddeningly unresponsive, and the slowdown is awful to the point of being really distracting. Please tell me other Neo Geo games aren't like this. =/

Can I get a refund on this? Is that possible with Nintendo?
as in 1? All ms games for some reason crap out when turbo/autofire is enabled

Call their support. I received a refund for NBA Playgrounds after speaking with them.

Will we ever see one of the most interesting games on the system return to the fold.

Viewpoint should be in the ArCade Archives and not lost forever.

Please Hamster Corp work with the rights holder and bring the game to market even if its for limited availability.

I think Sega would own Viewpoint now, right?

I don't think it's a good game but it sure is interesting. I have the NGCD and Genesis versions.

I thought Aero Fighters 2 was supposed to be hitting today. I just checked the store but didn't see anything new. What time does the store usually update?

How is the football game?

wait for Super Sidekicks 2. it's better in every way and the best in the series.

(I hope you mean the soccer game because there isn't a neogeo football game out on switch yet. dunno if "football frenzy", the only american football game on neoegeo, ever gets a release...doesn't matter anyway as it sucks ass)

edit:
And does it support split joycon multiplayer?

I'm under the assumption that every neogeo switch game supports split joycon multiplayer as long as the original neogeo game supports multiplayer.
the split joycon option acts basicly just as two normal (neogeo) controllers.

Is Super Sidekicks 2 better than 3 ? I only played 3 and found it very good.

sidekicks 2 is faster and easier to play compared to SS3.
I can't explain it exactly but somehow they changed the player controls for SS3. It's harder to keep the ball etc.

SS2 plays super fluently and is tons of fun. You get to shoot at the goal way more often in SS2.

SS3 has slightly improved (and additional) animations sequences (goal cheering etc) afair.

Overall I think it depends what YOU like in a soccer game.
Personally I had way more fun with SS2. It just plays like a dream.

Is SS2 coming to Switch?

So far I have SamSho 4, KoF 98, Garou and Metal Slug 3 on my Switch. I'm liking all of them, but I'm worried that I'll wear out my controllers playing the fighters so I don't play them often. Is anyone else concerned, or is it just me?

That's why Nintendo kindly made them replaceable! :p

I think playing on the pro controller is fine but yeah the joycon buttons don't seem to be well-suited for the kind of wear fighting games would induce on a controller.

My Hori Stick is to be delivered this week-end. Does anyone heard anything about Hamster patching the games so that we can remap inputs freely in order to have an abcd 4 buttons line like on the neogeo stick? On some early releases L and R cannot be remapped as of now.

Aero Fighters 2 is more expensive than any other Neo Geo game on the Australian eShop ($10.50 instead of the usual $9.10) and I have no idea why. Pricing error?

Surely they're not planning on raising the price for these outside of Japan...

So I decided to pick up 4-5 titles.

I am thinking

Sam Sho (IV is the better one right?)
Garou
Shock Troopers (which one is best?)
Turf Masters
and maybe Magical drop/Nam 75/Aero fighters

I think that should cover me for most of the good ones right? I want Baseball Stars 2, and a couple of the others that got wii releases that I bought. I would love to turn the switch into the Neogeo arcade machine I never fully did on Wii

Have they fixed the wrong pale colors via patch?
Maybe i will start buying 1 or 2 then.

Anything still broken like input lag or something?

probably, because it's the same price as every other neogeo release in germany.

Nice selection, I would say consider Metal Slug 3

Shock Troopers 1 without a doubt

Cool. Yeah, I've never played any of these games. They're all pretty much new to me.

In that case, I'd recommend Metal Slug X and/or 3, Neo Turf Masters (if you like golf games at all), Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and Aero Fighters 2. That would give you a pretty well-rounded look at the library IMO.

I've finished the Metal Slug games multiple times on different systems. It's all the same. I can say once you get past the slow down they are still pretty great games and some parts are better then others although large parts of it do chug. Metal Slug X is the best of the lot and a lot of the issues were fixed. It would be nice though if something could be done about the slowdown in these games. I know we want "arcade perfect" but I don't think anybody wants framerate hiccups in these sort of games.

That's a pretty strong list.

Honestly, I'd swap out SamSho IV though if you're only going to get one from the series... either wait for SS2 (unannounced but seems inevitable), or just go with SS1. Or maybe wait for Last Blade for your sword fighting fix (already released on other platforms so a very safe bet to show up before long) - actually, get LB1 immediately if/when it is released regardless of whether you have any SS games.

Garou - yes

Shock Troopers - most people prefer 1. I love 2nd Squad (mostly for the colorful anime aesthetic as opposed to the drab shooter of the original) but I know I'm in a very small minority on that and a lot of people can't handle the major slowdown in ST2.

Turf Masters - OH GOD YES

For your last one... Aero Fighters is a strong choice. I second the Metal Slug recs - either MS1 or MS3. If you're not satisfied on fighters, maybe KoF '98 (pretty universally beloved) or KoF 2000 (should be the August 10 release, perhaps my personal favorite for the great backgrounds/music).

Thanks! To be fair I got pretty burnt out on SS1 back in the day, SS2 would have been a snap buy, and I will get Last Blade when it shows up.

Looking forward to some ST1 with the wife, Garou / Sam Sho are for me, Turf Masters is for everyone...

Oh Zed Blade! Nice. Never got to play that one before.

Really have a soft spot for Joy Joy Kid as well. Such a simple game, but just so much fun to play.

zedblade is a very strange shmup. it's not bad but there are some very irritating things:
the super annoying (parallax)scrolling. it sort of "stutters" through the entire game and personally I get dizzy from it.
your ship is freaking enormous and has a weirdly shaped hitbox.
soundtrack is killer for your ears but at least 2 player mode afair is a blast (a little overcrowded though)
