I wonder if there's something about EW that they're using that over XCOM2, or if they just don't like the sequel that much.

Actually, fuck XCom. WRESTLING REVOLUTION 3D! MDickie finally made it to the big leagues.

It's awful, but the kind of awful where you can have 30 men in the ring at once and that ring is 5% the size of a normal ring and there's 40 ladders stacked on top of each other.

I like GB West a lot.

I do too as I feel they provide a nice contrast to East's eccentric/enthusiastic style(which is what people want West to be as well for some reason) but I think the complaints/criticisms when it comes to features is one that is sound. Hopefully they are able to get over their technical hurdle and also get Jason some help. Poor guy has been doing shit alone for a long, long, long time now.

West crew works well with the dry humor kind of style that they have. The only way to improve it is to have an eccentric person to bounce things off with him/her. However, I also never saw GB as an east and west thing since they're all working together towards a common goal but I dig the difference in styles and what each side of the coast brings to the table. I just hope west crew are able to fix the technical problems soon and hire the new person even sooner. Whether East or West does content, we all win(unless you have strong bias to one coast then I can't help you).

Except for Dota. Dota videos are only enjoyed by Dota players.

I assume it's because it's a friendlier game (well, as friendly as XCom can be...) than the sequel.

The turn limits in 2 would probably be too overwhelming, especially for newcomers. I don't think I ever lost a mission by running out of turns, but it's still stressful - and I played a lot of the previous game.

I wonder if they're gonna be switching by turns, by mission or by episode. If that's actually the concept, of course. It could be fun.

Oh, is the new feature X-COM? That's... a little disappointing; I don't really have any connection to those beyond sucking at the really old original a few times. I'll probably be into it once it gets started, though, and that intro's rad.

i said it earlier in the thread, but I remember in Xcom 1 if you forget to do the satelites right you basically lose the game. I feel like the meta stuff was very strict in 1

+1 to everything said here

yes

I've played 60 hours of it and don't see myself stopping

Eh, I stopped playing due to gaming with podcasts being more enjoyable, but I would have stopped anyway. Its 1 winner and 99 losers. No one cares where you place, so if I assume I'll lose 98% of the matches regardless of skill I want every moment to be spicy as there's 0 tension. The middle game kills it for me.

The stress is so good though, but yeah, I get it. I'm a media masochist. I want all the negative feelings drilled into my skull and heart.

That's definitely the main risk and the cause of many a failed playthrough.

I can imagine Alex saying to Abby in episode 1 "this is gonna be a spoiler / hint free playthrough for the most part, but for the sake of the feature, here's my one and only tip: build satellites."

What if they bring in a Kingdom Hearts speedrunner.
They watch all the cutscenes, but someone else rushes through the game?

Oh man I would love to see Spike Vegeta interact with the Beast crew lmao

They did a QL but weren't too hot on it (they mostly showed one of the worst parts of the game, a tailing mission in tight quarters).

I enjoyed the game but not as much as the first (I actually haven't finished it, should get back to it).

You should finish it! The final hours of that game are so good

I do think some of the quantity criticism of GBWest is unfounded. I haven't gone back and looked for a month of two, but not even counting the longer podcasts, West had put out like 10-15% more minutes of content than East when I added it up around E3. It's just that East is doing the bulk of the premium stuff and West handles more QLs and Unfinisheds. And judging by this thread, that probably makes sense. GB superfans, at least here, like East better, so cater to them with premium East content. Less rabid fans, of which there are naturally more, are happy seeing familiar faces like Jeff and Brad, so give them QLs and UPF, GB's most watched show.

On another note, I hope they plan to save scum XCOM because I have a feeling having no grand plan and letting everyone do what they want is going to get them massacred. Can't you imagine Dan, world's worst teammate, pulling another Rocket League and running off on his own for glory and leaving his friends to die?

I've moved to that weird period where I'm following the overwatch esports scene very closely but not really playing the game?

Yeah, I really should get back to it. I think one of the reasons why I stopped was because I wasn't digging the music as much as the first one, and also the different gravity styles kinda took away some of the simplicity of the original, but I really should give it another try and see it through to the end.

I really want to finish gravity rush 2 but ehhhhhhhhh.

I feel like the camera is really pushing me away from the game.

I did my XCOM 2 playthrough last summer-ish and it was pretty bug free at that point. Them being concerned about bugs (if true) at this point is a little silly.

I don't think anyone really played it much outside of Dan, I feel like even if it didn't have a rocky launch the crew still wouldn't have played much of it. No one really seemed that interested.

It's also a bitch to learn compared to first one, my first 8 hours were just a lot of trial of error even though I had played XCOM EU/EW like a year earlier.

Sweeeeeet, I can see Xcom being fun as hell, it's going to be great to get attached to whatever freakshow of a roster they come up with.

It's a little weird that they're doing EW and not 2, but I guess it's for the better. I have an inkling that Dan was just friggin' terrible at 2 and it wouldn't have been a very fun playthrough to see them get wiped a few months in.
