Since the steelbook I had preordered is definitely lost, I'll probably go with the digital version now. Can I still get the Van Uber ship or was that only for those who preordered?

Damn, that's a fantastic gif Sunhi. Reminds me, I should jump online at some point and help populate the servers a bit. Crash has been pulling me away!

I have a wishlist for this game.

1. User choice of ship voices. I love the woman for Mirage but hate the ship itself.
2. Lobby message. I prefer tournaments online but would love to be able to post a message saying, "will start tourney after 4+ players".
3. Better integrated support for custom music.
4. Return of the speaker setup check.
5. In racebox to be able to use any ship on any track.

Wish they would fix/implement the 'Players Met' functionality. It never lists anything for this game. Thought this should be a system-wide thing, yet I've seen some games where it's left seemingly unimplemented. Sucks.

Totally agree. Spotify is great and all, but they've carelessly not implemented any in-game music integration with their API. I wish they had thought of this when they brought Spotify in--it's sad that it's just a constant stream of music, instead of the glory days of PS3 on games like Wipeout HD and Gran Turismo, where the music would logically change between races and in menu areas. Hell, GT even let you have a separate playlist for menus. As it is, the Spotify music support is 'nice', but very lazy.

I don't think it's a matter of 'laziness', I'm pretty sure it's just not natively supported on PS4 as it was on PS3.

Finally transcended for a 2nd time. I wish the online grind for 2048 on the vita wasn't so much or I'd go for that as well.

Excellent game and very glad to have on ps4

I've been trying to get a group of people to play the online campaign. Maybe we can co-ordinate it at some point? Haha

I keep bumping into the same dude/dudette online and I swear they're using a cheat code or something.

They're generally in an Auricom on the HD game mode, I'll be in Icarus which has a higher top speed. Yet this person will overtake me no problems, even without the use of speed pads. This shouldn't happen on a straight given the higher top speed of Icarus compared to Auricom.

Any ideas what I'm missing here?

Mad skills?

Sorry.

I was talking about the Spotify integration itself as lazy (i.e. that they did not do the integration so that it is 'natively supported', or rather more deeply integrated). There should have been a way for game developers to directly interact with/access Spotify (or other music apps on the system like the USB music) so that they could accomplish the above.

Now you guys have had the game for a bit, how do you rate the soundtrack? Any standout tracks? Still yet to break the seal on my game as I'm trying to clear some backlog.

As a fan of rock and metal, I'm not impressed with the soundtrack at all. I'd imagine if electronic music is your bag, it's great. I'm thankful that there's at least some support for custom soundtracks.

It's arse IMO, don't like the vast majority of tracks. Stick with your favorite custom classic Wipeout Spotify playlist, it's way better.

I didn't like the soundtrack when I first heard it and still feel the same. There are only few tracks that I like. Some songs I even find annoying and distracting the race. Always use Spotify playlist instead. This game just needs better Spotify integration that would sync with games visuals and audio effects if custom soundtrack is not possible.

Those wanting custom soundtracks are more than justified, as nothing beats a fast racer with your favourite tunes blasting away. Although, this can be easily remedied with just switching to sound effects in Wipeout, and using an external mixer feeding an external sound source with your favourite music.

On a side note, I've decided to continue playing with the PSVR HMD, even with the lower resolution, it is more immersive and the screen has less shimmering/ aliasing.

Are you all using the standard PS4 controller? I picked up a Nacon Revolution Pro, and find it much better. Still miss a NegCon-type controller by Namco from the PSX days, and a missed opportunity for a special edition bundle.

I think it's pretty good - still needs some Exceeder but no complaints

I definitely prefer the old PS3 soundtrack.
This one has too many annoying songs with vocals that remind me too much of R n B.
Have never used Spotify, but might have to get an account.

Disappointed to see that you can't add music tracks; this game's music is a little dull compared to past entries and they get stale quickly.

Any opinions on whether the Van-Über ship is worth redeeming? I might end up selling this game some day so I'll only redeem it if it'll help me race better. I loved Van-Über in Fusion.

WipEout HD/FURY still has it beat. Can't beat Exceeder, Le Night Dominator, Just Hiss, Steady Rush, Aerodynamik, Smart Systems, Machine Gun... Basically every track was gold!

Not a patch on 2097 or HD/Fury but I've been bopping along quite happily to a few of the tunes.

The best session I've had was playing Aphex Twin's recent set at Field Day in Hackney & had a transcendent zone/Garden of Linmiri moment.

I like the soundtrack a lot. More than HD Fury, XL, and 3.

But I don't like it enough to be ok with the exclusion of being able to use custom music.

So other than the (supposedly) so-so soundtrack (which is a non-issue for me since I can just play some music on my stereo), what's the verdict? I played the shit out of HD, but haven't played Fury or 2048.

Man going from 2048 to HD it feels so damn slow. Also weird that Novice is the default difficulty considering it's hilariously easy.

2048 is a really great game, Fury adds some crazy amount of meat to HD and you get the definitive version for HD as well.

If you like WipEout, it's well worth it.

Wish there was a way to remove the HUD. With the amount of aural information given, the HUD is almost superfluous.

Can anyone tweet the devs for me?

Yeah that's my most wanted change as well. Really want the ability to see the whole environment and be totally immersed, the WipEout 3 HUD is the closest so far. I'll give them a tweet.

If you played the shit out of HD and enjoyed it, this is a must-buy. Fury and 2048 are fucking fantastic.

I hope you've already bought it? Best game.

Thanks man.

On a separate note, Zone Battle is still an absolute bullshit mode. It's 90% based on luck, as once you hit a barrier, that's it: may as well restart the race.

Hated it on PS3, and still hate it now.

Can you tweet them to make WipEout 3/2097 HUD for Zone Battle and Detonator as well? It just feels kind of incomplete when those modes only have default HUD.

I don't think that will ever change, unfortunately. Would require them to make new assets for an existing HUD scheme and I'm sure they don't want to mess with that too much.

Anyone else finding this game a bit of a slog? I was losing the will to continue during the later sections of Wipeout HD. Having to repeat the same tracks over 8 stages was just a bit much for me.

Gonna go try the online for a few hours then I think I'll send it back to Boomerang.

Tried to go online now in the US and there is no one online, nothing. I dont think this game sold very well. I dont believe it charted either in the sales threads.

Having a lot of trouble downloading that custom OST on the first page, anyone possibly able to upload it elsewhere so I can try it out?
EDIT: Nevermind, sorted it out. Sitting through the tracks now.

I finally beat the 2048 campaign last night, elite passed everything. Fun fact: in two seperate zone events, I finished 1-2 spaces higher than matthewmatosis.

I think it did in the UK charts, but not sure about NPD.
It's an amazing game, and the developers did a better than fantastic job with it.
Really wanted this to do "Crash" type numbers so that there would be interest in a fully fledged new game. Dream may be lost now though.

Even 1/2 of Crash success would be great. I think HD on PS3 had long legs and sold many years after it launched if I remember correctly. So in the end i think it did decently.

I hit a wall in the 2048 campaign and had to give up on it. It's sad if that ends up being the franchise's last game.

I'm having WAY more fun in multiplayer. Elimination with 7 other players is a freaking blast.

Decided to not even bother finishing Fury because it was so boring. Think I'll probably send the game back to Boomerang tomorrow.
