Regarding the discussion about episode 3 with Highgarden falling so easily: Turns out that in show canon they don't have the largest army (or at least didn't back at the start of the war of 5 kings). Their army was smaller than the Lannister army, and with the Tarlys switching over, it makes sense that they would be outmatched.

Also interesting in that clip is that Arya knows that Littlefinger schemed with the Lannisters,

Part of the Renly's army was made of Baratheon's soldiers, I guess the two combined made the biggest army.

Season 7 though is where character arcs are dead and they just moving people into position. I'm honestly surprised we got Ed Sheeran and The Hound in Episode 1.

I really hope some things are permanently wrapped up this season. I REALLY want Cersei and Littlefinger gone by season's end.

The Lannisters were definitely portrayed as consistently stronger than the Tyrells on the show, but even still, the Highgarden scene seemed to ignore any value to having a castle. Until that moment the show has been pretty clear that small forces can hold castles against large ones, and you either need some trick to get inside, or to wait them out through siege (which in theory should be difficult against well-provisioned Tyrells).

The previous scene was all about a similar siege and the huge number of casualties the Unsullied took to pull it off, even after using the sewer trick. Last season had a multi-episode arc about how much trouble Blackfish could cause with a few dozen dudes because he had a castle. They had the whole Stannis backstory about a few starving men holding out against a massive host. If you can just walk up and take castles that easily, the whole military/strategic world of the show is completely upended.

What's weird is they wrote a trick to get them in there! They had the Tarly's betrayal. But then instead of using that to get the gate open, they storm the castle anyway, and apparently make off with extremely limited casualties regardless. A three minute scene of the Tyrells letting Tarly in to reinforce them against Jaime's coming army, and Tarly turning on them and capturing Olenna would've solved everything, and made that character's presence feel much more plot critical.

The Hounds arc sure as fuck doesn't feel dead to me, he is still very cerebral.

Hell I would argue episode 1 did the grave digger better then the books completely

Also don't think Theon's is either

There was some great character stuff last episode imo. Decent enough writing with amazing battle at the end made it one of the great episodes of the show.

Literally every Targerayan for the past 200 years is a direct descendant of a Uncle/Niece relationship. Complaining about the incest just feels bizarre considering the series and lore tbh.

Plus, that's exactly what Tywin did at the end of Robert's Rebellion. It's like poetry!

I've always been lukewarm on the subject but the show sure isn't doing a good job of making those two compelling together. We'll see what GRRM decides to do..... lol.

The true OTP is Jon/Val. Don't fail me GRRM.

I feel like getting killed by the white walkers is a fitting end for Littlefinger. Can't scheme your way out of that one!.. Unless he gets a ton of babies ti sacrifice.

I get the feeling Varys will kill Baelish. Maybe not directly, but he'll have a hand in it. Even though they're on the same side now, someone is going to have to deal with Baelish eventually because the man will not stop. Who better than The Spider? Just cold murder that fool and move on.

LF: "If you let me live I'll give you my son Robin."

I know he's not his son, Lysa would've mentioned it.

He's overstayed his welcome. He's relegated to just standing around saying Littlefinger shit, I imagine he'll make to the end of the season since it seems like he has some Arya-Sansa scheming to conduct.

I believe his fate is tied with Sansas which is why Bran keeps giving her those looks of disappointment.

Cool Fact: I met Bronn recently whilst attending a small gig for his half-brother (and extremely talented musician) Johnny Flynn. He seemed like a cool dude and attracted more attention than his brother.

I would also say it's where the show became more accessible for a wider audience. Scenes were made to appear badass or controversial

I don't see this whatsoever

The most controversial scene (maybe in TV history) was the red wedding - and that was prior to this

I have recently completed a rewatch on the entire series - in my opinion the clearest drops in quality are season 2 and season 5 - they are both noticeably clumsy

season 2 is salvaged by Tyrion in kings landing and Blackwater, season 5 is salvaged by almost nothing other than Hardhome

But season 6 was an admirable return to form

I barely remember season 2. I just call it "that one season with Ygritte."

i don't, and i'm bored to hell of hearing about it
I mean I assume you are watching the show because it's obviously happening. Davos doesn't get that line for no reason.

I honestly expect Dany/Jon shipping to get worse from here on out, especially if they push it off til next season.

I mean listen people. Dany has to fuck someone. She needs children. Who else out there can she fuck? Its not like she can go to OkCupid, or the local bar, and pick someone up. Tinder doesn't exist. There aren't many guys left eligible to be king besides Jon, Euron, Jamie, Robin, Bran, and Dicken, I can't think of anyone else with the age and lands necessary. She needs a King, or her dynasty will be pretty short.

I want a scenario were she ends up with Jamie. That would be an amazing conclusion.

She can't have children anymore tho?

Uhh yeah the text is pretty clear that Dany will never have children

This is a really big issue and I'm not sure how they are going to address it on the show. She can't continue the bloodline.

Jon can.

Edit: Actually, Can he? I assume he works just fine after being resurrected.
