Dragon Ball FighterZ - Characters, Specials, and Stages Discussion

Do we know how long the current arc is planned to run?

The game probably won't be out until March at the earliest. That's roughly 7 months and 28 more episodes. Then you have to assume at least a year between new games (probably two years with DLC for the first year), so that's another 52-104 episodes for a total of roughly 80-132 episodes from now.

Even if we bank on the low end of 80 episodes, this arc would have been over long before that given how the past four arcs have gone. I can't see a sequel just adding characters from the current arc as the main selling point. I think those characters would be DLC throughout 2018 with a new game focusing on the current cast, DLC and then characters from the arc that follows this current arc, plus maybe more obscure characters from all of the series.

Being an Arcsy game I wonder if there will be like 5 revisions, lol

I hope the revisions go like this: DragonBall FighterZ -> DragonBall X One Piece -> Jump FighterZ and I can have my ultimate team of any fighting game ever: Kinnikuman, All Might and Whitebeard

Now my heads going wild with the roster for that game and also trying to remain in a mind of assuming that's a FAR off Dream~

I want the jump crossover so bad if it means we get Yu Yu Hakusho in the fold

Same here, though it'd also mean that Hunter X Hunter, My Hero Academia, & JoJo would get representation alongside Yu Yu Hakusho. I just hope that it would still be dubbed (even though Bamco & ASW would have to work with Viz & Funimation for the franchises I mentioned alone).

The cross over games sell far less than the DB games, that'd be kind of bad for them to do that.

Rather have new DB characters from movies , Super etc... Especially now that even Naruto has mostly died in the west.

But let's not get greedy, let's get this game first :p . In the long term it'd be cool to get a cross over but I'm not holding my breath.

To be fair, the likes of OPM, JoJo, MHA, & HxH are gaining quite a bit of prominence in the West (JoJo & HxH being partially thanks to Toonami, though both were doing a good job of gaining steam in the West already due to their respective animes). Plus there's legacy stuff like Yu Yu Hakusho that have tons of nostalgia amongst Western fans.

Yeah it's good for them to focus in right now. I'm still pretty 50/50 on anything outside of core Z being represented in the base roster. I think I'll be happy regardless!

*points at Golden Frieza*

That plus Beerus is a pretty safe bet for the base roster, given his popularity.

Golden Freeza originated from DBZ Resurrection. So not quite core Z, but still Z. Most people associate Golden Freeza with Super, though.

I still remember the one poster that said he's fine with stuff like Beerus and Golden Frieza because it's technically a part of Z lol

I am now on Super ep #30. Only been watching like 1 episode a day. This universe 6 arc is so much better then the previous 2 arcs too me so far. It feels like the writers finally get a chance to show off some real creativity. I'm sure I didnt even make it to the good stuff yet.

I'll hopefully been caught up with everyone in a few weeks at this rate. By the time the game finally releases I'll really be good to go.

That's why most of us suggest that newbies just watch the 2 recent movies & jump to Episode 28 of Super afterwards.

The problem with cross over games is that you only ever really get the main characters for a lot of series. I'd rather them pick one property and pull deeper from its library of characters than play a game with a roster composed entirely of main characters. More than half of which's special trait is being a jack of all trades who hits really really hard.

So basically do this DBZ game then do One Piece. Just like with the DS ones lol

Weird that Krillen has an S reach, when Gohan has B reach. And Picollo is only S reach when I think they mentioned he can extend his arms, kinda like Dhalism. Have we gotten any video of these two since the reveal?

Also weird that Krillin has C technique when they mention he has a lot of different techniques. What does even techinque means in that stats chart...

Ghoan and Krillin are small fighters but the scans said that meanwhile Gohan is close combat fighter, Krillin is a long range one (kamehame, discs) with gimmicks (images, beans) one.

ShonenGamez has translated the official website with the character stats, pretty interesting.

The artworks are all fire.

I really hope they can get the final models ingame to look like those.

Especially Goku's and Trunks, that are pretty far off.

I'll remake the OP with those artworks eventually.

Going to call it right now. If the animation looks like this for his support move, you know the crowds are going to be going "SENSU BEAN!"

Still, that's pretty interesting that you have a character that is far from the strongest, and yet he can be utilized to heal his allies. The question I'd like to know is how often can Krillin throw out Sensu Beans? Will it be a limited supply? Or will Krillin's heals not heal that much?

Man in the context of infographics some of these stats are completely lopsided, lol.

So far everyone is really easy to play at least! lol

They probably won't heal much since they're a meterless special/assist and it looks like he throws out an "item" similar to Faust's Candy Bar in Guilty Gear. Meaning it's less of an ally heal on command and more of a pick up either player can get. At least it seems to work that way with Krillin on point.

Honestly it doesn't look very good but who knows. Maybe it could be something more wild but I think significant heals in fighting games are annoying to deal with and almost impossible to balance.

We can have fun trying to come up for the stats of the other characters.

Broly - SS power C speed B technique A reach S energy

Android 17 - A power S speed C technique B reach SS energy

Reach and Technique are backwards. I sent them an email through their tip page to fix that.

Stats don't mean shit for how they'll actually play. At best it'll give us a bit of insight on how the devs or perhaps marketers feel the characters sit at, but it'll change drastically by the time people actually get their hands on the game.

Probably will be balanced by not making them heal an outrageous amount and also the fact that it looks like he has to do it while ON POINT. That means he's likely wide open to being attacked while doing so (especially if it has significant endlag), so it seems like they'll balance it around that. I'm sure you could use certain assists to help cover you, but if done right I can see people being able to beat your assist and Krillin trying to heal if you do it carelessly.

That makes a bit more sense. They did mentioned Gohan having shorter normals but in exchange for more raw power. I don't care much about these things but having Krillin reach being an S seems a bit off.
