Chocobo Hot & Cold is the fucking worst thing ever

So I've been playing through Final Fantasy IX and just got finished with Ipsen Castle. I recently learned via the internet that the game has different color chocobo shit and whatnot like Final Fantasy VII so I wanted to dive into that. I went back to the Chocobo Forest from near the first third of the game and, upon talking to the forest moogle, was allowed to play Chocobo Hot and Cold.

And it's the fucking worst thing ever. How many fucking chocographs are there? And finding each one of these stupid things is fucking randomized and I have a fucking minute to do it each fucking try? At this point in the game I'm rolling in money, but holy fuck it's annoying to do a minute of what consists of me running around in a circle on a fucking giant yellow chicken for a minute to find a picture of a river. Fuck this.

Zidane's ulimate weapon better be fucking worth it.

I got utterly addicted to this. It's one of the best chocobo mini-games.

All of the chocobo stuff in FFVIII is really terrible in comparison.

Yeah everything about the chocobo forest in FFVII makes me wanted break my controller. It's not worth getting the Chocobo triple triad card or whatever dumb reward they give you for using the ChocoSonar

fuck ultima weapons being locked behind minigames. Give me a sidequest with the game mechanics that I've been mastering for 45 hours rather than some new thing that I have to learn.

Here are some things to complain about ffix....
Excalibur 2 forcing you to speedrun
Stat growth based on equipment worn
Slow as shit battle openings
Chocobo hot and cold is fun and thread creators opinion is wrong

I love FFX and it's my favorite game of all time, but that has the worst mini games in the series easy. Chocobo Hot and Cold is okay, especially in comparison to X's.

That stupid Moogle game in 7 where you feed him the little nuts or whatever is also terrible.

I hated it the first time I played through FFIX, but that was when I left it all to the end of the game, and if you do it that way, it's a horrific slog.

But if you space it out throughout your entire playthrough it's actually a pretty neat little diversion that's pretty rewarding.

KWEH!

It's very fun to me, but I don't mind spending mindless hours just to get treasure!

The first area is the worst, and it doesn't get better even after you get the mountain chocobo.

?? It is right under my favorite minigame in the series, Final Fantasy VIII's Triple Triad. Play Final Fantasy X to see the worst.

If you're playing on Steam just play it on super fast speed it's pretty much cheating and you can rack up those points to get the Robe of Lords pretty easily.

Nothing else to add except I concur with everyone else. Easily the best minigame in the entire Final Fantasy series, has actual great rewards, super fun to play, treasure hunting rules. You couldn't be more wrong if your name was W. Wrong Wrongenstein.

Chocobo Hot N Cold and Blitzball are the two best FF mini games. I would put dozens of hours into Blitzball.

I like Blitzball more of a concept. A 360 underwater soccer/rugby game I would probably actually play. The mini game itself isn't bad just kinda whatever for me personally.

I've always wished we could have Blitzball as a real sport. I would play it all the time lol.

It's my favorite minigame in the series, but I can understand why it might feel annoying trying to get the chocographs after awhile. Maybe you will feel differently after going through the majority of it, the beginning is the worst part.

You actually can't do that though, a lot of the game has you isolated so you can't go back to Chocobo Forest. Lagoon and Air Garden are like both disc 3 stuff. That's the biggest problem with the minigame, most of it is left to endgame

I wanna know what people find fun about the minigame? It's completely random and the rewards suck. The time limit is restrictive and the game is repetitive as he'll. At least Triple Triad took some thinking.

I can think of worse FF mini games, OP.
