w00f, getting some crazy studdering in Lone Echo. I updated to the lastest release of Revive before I booted it up. Haven't had the time to investigate yet but it seems fixable.

searched around, and tried it out... in advanced settings you just enable always on repro, and disable the other two options

smooth as a cats fur now

really excited to play, it was cool. I g

...and you don't get queezy??

Hopefully the Rift headset is durable, I accidentally hit myself with the Touch controller getting carried away playing GORN. Silly but fun game.

Edit: Games are very pricey though, anyone know how often Oculus stores have sales and by how much?
You just missed the big summer sale with good discounts, so there most probably won't be another sale for weeks if not months. Maybe something on black Friday, or Halloween.
Although it would be really cool if oculus made an "encore" flash sale repeating all the deals from the summer sale and combine it with the moment that the 399$ sale ends. Just a dream.

Arkham VR feels like you're playing the first act of a greater story, and then the last 10 minutes shove you into a half baked conclusion.

I can't believe that they charged $20 for this. Even $9 feels like it's pushing it.

Just got around to playing brookhaven on my rift and playing survival in the town square everything is so bright I don't need the flash-light.Can headshot zombies in the distance.
Fired up my vive and it's as dark as it always was.Anyone else come across this or maybe it's my setup
My rift is part of my portable vr system (in a suitcase) running on a 6Gb 1060.
My vive is in my main PC running on a 1080.

My rift finally arrives tomorrow, any advice for first things to do?

I'm very excited!

Set it up and go through the touch tutorial that it will launch automatically. After that, install and play robo recall. As your first vr game it will blow you away :D Forget the small stuff that was available during the first weeks of vr, theres high quality stuff out there now so jump straight into the deep end of awesomeness.

Also get these tools:
Oculus traytool (lets you turn the rift off if you like to leave it connected, control default audio + mic and set supersampling options per game)

Guardian Boundary Editor (Lets you manually tweak the guardian boundary without having to go through the setup again. Also lets you save multiple boundary profiles that you can load to replace the existing one at any time).

And finally, check out this list of free stuff for the rift:

It seems mostly fine. It was unplayable before.
TBH I haven't had time to play a lot of it. Gonna try more right now. I don't know exactly what's going on, I wouldn't say the image looks heavily reprojected. But from googling around I had to set it to always on to stop the insane rotational stuttering

So I refunded Battlezone and got House of the Dying Sun and Rez instead. Think I'm going to enjoy them more. Battlezone has some legit gameplay but it was giving me a headache for some reason and it seemed very reptitive playing solo. Also ordered a third sensor. Feels like a lot of money to throw down combined with the cost of the rift but room scale just seems like such a big game changer.

Yeah I saw the bundles earlier but none of them really interested me. I'm guessing their sales aren't really comparable to steam, but I hope they do some (more?) individual game sales before the summer of rift ends.

Well, if we compare apples to apple, VR games on Steam are not hugely discounted either (maybe with some exceptions of indie games that sold poorly and slashed the price as a last ditch effort to recoup some money)

Cool looking mech game called The IOTA Project. It has a melee focus but you have rockets as well. Still pretty early in development but should have a demo soon-ish.

Thanks for posting these, just got them set up and they're already proving incredibly useful.

I posted that with gifs like 3 posts up dude :p

This could be cool. Did they say somewhere it would have VR support or was it in the trailer and I missed it?
Says it on the store page:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/510390/Unknown_Fate/

EDIT:
From the developer (working on this alone) on steam forum:
hi,
I'm MarsLit Games main (and only xD) dev.
The VR version of the game won't be just the base game played with a VR headset but a "separate" version purposely thought to be played with VR ;)

Yes Unknown Fate will last A LOT more than 30mins, it will last around 4hours of gameplay (probably more if you are playing it for the first time).

Cloudgine, the company responsible for developing Crackdown 3's cloud based physics tech is making a new VR game using it called They Came From Space. It's a multiplayer game where you control a giant alien ship in a race against another VR player to destroy the city. It supports up to 10 players where the rest are made up of players outside VR controlling your wingmen ships. VRFocus.com has some more on it.

TRAILER

this idea seems awesome!! but the game would need to be super cheap for non vr players or free

"Played" Firebird - La Peri, for the price of a Chilli Cheese Burger (prices may vary depending on location) you get 15 minutes of John Rhys Davies narrated VR art(sy fartsy).

I didn't really understand what was going on but that's not a first with me. Have to say though that I'm quite impressed by the 3 minute ballet dance at the end. That's some beautiful and awe inspiring stuff, would watch more of that for a longer period of time and even pay money for that, if it's done like it is here in this "Game".

Oculus arrived, set up was easy and most games worked, the two art apps (quill and medium) crash at launch though, but haven't looked up any troubleshooting yet

Also found out it won't work with steamVR yet as both video outputs need to be from the same GPU so I ordered a dvi to hdmi adapter

Toybox was a awesome first experience and felt totally natural

Bigscreen is super cool but made me wish it was clearer

Robo recall is great but tough to wrap my head around the teleporting (and fuck that jump moment at the start)

Looking forward to more for sure :)

Just completed the last available mission on raw data(as of the current build, since the real final mission is still locked until a future update).

Ended up using the pistol class which felt more my style. Originally wanted to go through as the katana class but her damage on heavy enemies felt really weak (especially the giant boss like ones). Will go through all the missions as each class though and get all the class unlocks.

My favourite mission was probably the train/tram one as that felt less like a wave shooter and more of point A to point B styled campaign mission (also had some interesting mechanics like the hallucinations and the meditating part). Also Loved the addition of the laser beams in the later levels, having to physically crouch for like a minute whilst shooting enemies was pretty cool :D

Couldn't find any pvp or co-op games whenever I tried to which is a shame, not sure if thats something wrong on my end or if the multiplayer is a ghost town?

They indicate vr and motion control supports in previous trailers, and on steam page

EVE Valkyrie warzone dlc trailer

Paranormal Activity also exits early access today in line with PSVR retail release

The Soulkeeper release today on Steam as early access

Any of you play Soulkeeper yet? I'm dying to hear some impressions. I'd be running it on a 980ti fwiw

And does the Steam refund ever run out? I just refunded Vanishing Realms despite it being super fun, it was 100% unplayable without full 360 degrees. Now I'm thinking I may have to refund Rez Infinite but I'll give it another chance.

So I already feel like a dick and I'm wondering if Steam will start thinking I'm scamming them if I were to buy Soulkeeper and refund it if it's too buggy.

Another article about VR as sport (And not as in e-sport! Actual calorie burning exercise).

”Audioshield, when modified with the proper settings, has a higher calorie burn per minute than an elliptical treadmill or a rowing machine," Stanton said. ”And games like Knockout League for boxing actually have a metabolic score that's very, very equivalent to real world sparring."

Got my Rift on Monday. finally just had my first driving experience with Project Cars. I don't think I can ever go back to non-VR driving games (save for Burnout, etc). Holy moly. Just incredible feeling.

I think the general feedback on it right now is that the content in the game doesn't justify the price. Its getting a few bad reviews from people who believe early access = demo with free dlc later on. It has a lot of bugs right now so its worth waiting for a few updates before getting it since its still early in its development. They seem to be aiming for atleast 8-10 hours of content for its final release.

Other complaints are no spatial sound (2D sound), movement system isn't vive friendly right now (pushing touchpad to walk I think), performance/optimisation issues but everyone who has it says the graphics are amazing.

I will get it at later date I think after its got the current problems fixed and have more content.

Some of the other stuff seems pretty fair for early access but I'm still amazed when bigger VR games come out with these particular issues. Spatial sound has been important and made a big deal of since the launch of VR and having the option to touch instead of click the trackpad is such an easy option to include. I don't see how that last one in particular happens with a game that was in closed alpha for so long.

uploadVR's review for killing floor incursion is up:
https://uploadvr.com/killing-floor-incursion-review-vr/

They completed the game in 3-4 hours, said it was more action focused than horror, gave it an 8/10 saying the game is great but they think Arizona is still the better zombie game.

3-4 hours is way too short for me for a game at that price, but the review doesn't give much context on the playstyle (did they rush through the game? did they explore the environments if possible? Did they play on the easiest difficulty if there are difficulty settings available?). Some reviews claimed Lone Echo was 4 hours long, but that took me 9 hours XD

Just tried the Fully Possessed VR mod for DOOM 3, and damn is it intense. The modders did a great job modifying it for VR, you really get drawn in to the world. Which in my case means constant heart attacks whenever an enemy shows up. Not sure I'll be able to finish the game but it's really neat.

The world scaling is a bit off though, like most of the objectives seem way bigger than they should be (soda cans, datapads, doorways etc.).

Did you play on the Rift or Vive?

I didn't know there was a VR mod for Doom 3... I gotta check that out!!

Are there any other respectable mods for recent/somewhat recent respectable AAA games?? I heard about Alien, which I need to try, but that's it.

EDIT: Shit, I was thinking Doom 2016

Somewhat recent is only the Yooka Laylee VR mod not sure if it still works after the recent updates, have not tried it myself yet.

There are several flight-sim mods but all are (nearly all) getting official VR support as far as I know (or they already have that).

Then the mods for older games:

Richard Burns Rally

Penumbra: Overture

Of course Vivecraft

There will be a Half Life 2 Mod

Not sure if there is more.
